    Nazare

    October 14 in Portugal

Travelled here after the storm through areas which had seen much damage. Many trees down and power lines too. We thought this coastal site may have seen some damage but other than a few small branches not much had been sustained.
We set up, met up with Mike and Kerry who we had previously noticed in St Vicente and enjoyed a coffee with them. We then walked to the Norte beach - famous for its surfing waves and up to Sitio above at the top of the cliff. The sea was pretty spectacular but no surfers out - the big wave season runs through winter.
We had our first morning of rain for some time so we set off to have a look around somof the surrounding area. The church at Alcobaca attached to the monanstry is spectacular and the town overlooked by an old castle which we walked up to.
Caldas da Rainha an old spa town.
Sao Martinho do Porto where in the afternoon we walked along the beach in sunshine.

    Portugal, Nazaré

    September 25 in Portugal

    Jubiläum!
Vor einem Jahr hat meine Reise begonnen :-)
    Unglaublich...

    First day in Nazaré

    May 2 in Portugal

After a long flight via Dubai and London we flew into Lisbon. Arranged phone SIMs and a hire car and drove straight out to Nazaré. Picked up the keys to our apartment, picked up Dad from his house and went out to one of our 3 favourite restaurants in Nazare for some beautiful fresh fish.

    Portuguese Lesson #1

    May 3 in Portugal

O espaço de estacionamento é opcional
    Parking bays are optional

In Portugal you can (and they do) park anywhere. Don't be surprised if you find double parking in a narrow lane way. It is perfectly acceptable to double park, whilst you have your morning coffee and pastry.

    Portuguese Lesson #2

    May 5 in Portugal

Smoking is everywhere! Hopped into the local 25m pool and punched out a slow 1.5km. The piscina is located at the top of Nazaré with a beautiful outlook - beats MSAC!

There were half a dozen kids in the pool and a lifeguard watching. Halfway through I looked up and saw him smoking out the front with the receptionist !

The no smoking sign was an after thought I think ...
