That's a really nice map to have. I'm enjoying following your journey! (Elaine, islandwalker)
It’s in the low 30s way up here on the north. Hoping you don’t get really hot days for walking. Buen camino AJ!!

It was raining lightly when we left our accommodation this morning. We thought it might be an idea to stay out of the rain, and see the Refugios de la Guerra Civil Española. Our little info sheetRead more
Andrew, I'm so glad you got to see the market, the Centro de Interpretación Patrimonial (isn't that an amazing map just inside the door!), and the Cable Ingles. As you make your way along the Mozabe and see the remains of the mining sites, you will have the picture of the Cable Ingles in your mind frequently. Thanks for taking the time to write all this up and share the photos. I especially loved your photo of the Cable Ingles.

We're in two minds about seeing the Civil War shelters. We had a chat about it with Nely, and it still is raw in minds of the people in Almería.
I totally get that. One thing that I remember was the makeshift hospital down there. Not only to treat the wounded but also a place where babies were born —talk about the resiliency of the human spirit. And a confirmation that through the worst of it all, life goes on. But it was a very sobering visit. On a less serious note, how great are the amigos!!! If you meet Veronica, give abrazos from me!
