      Alles Käse ??

      August 28, 2019 in England ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

Was schleppen wir raus... na logo...KÄSE 😂😂

      Yorkshire Dales National Park

      July 18, 2022 in England ⋅ ⛅ 73 °F

This beautiful area of moorland and fells (hills) of limestone and sandstone was carved by glaciers and rivers, making picturesque dales (local name for valleys).

There are more than 20 dales in the national park. Each dale is usually named after the river that flows through it: Arkengarthdale, Ribblesdale, Swaledale, Warfedale, etc.

There are beautiful views everywhere you look. The pastoral landscape of intricate dry-stone walls and field barns was created over centuries of livestock farming. Picturesque stone farms, bridges, villages and towns are sheltered in the dales. Almost all the roads are lined with stone walls, making it precarious when the roads are narrow and winding.

This is Wensleydale, the first dale we explored so far. I felt bad that Dean didn't see much of it, just the road in front of him. There are very few if any pull-outs.

      Hawes, Home of Wensleydale Cheese

      July 18, 2022 in England ⋅ ⛅ 79 °F

We stopped in the Market Village of Hawes to see where the Yorkshire's most famous cheese is made. It is a mild, crumbly style of cheese. We tasted several kinds, and bought some with dried cranberries. We also learned that fruitcake and cheese are eaten together here. That combination of sweet and salt --- mmm!Read more

      Swaledale

      June 26, 2022 in England ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Well that was a bit of a windy night on top of the Dales and a bit of rain as well for good measure. Anyway we set off in murky conditions following the river Swale valley through iconic Dale's villages. Narrow roads kept me on me toes as herself oohed and aahed round every narrow blind corner - well yow know wot ers like! Short stop at lovely Reeth but not so nice in cloudy weather so they decide to head for tonight's night stop in Hawes via the Buttertubs Pass. A spectacular road but misty weather limiting the fine views. We arrive in Hawes and park up in the blinkin cattle market car park which slopes steeply which I ay keen on at all. Even up on me blocks don't level me, but ees appy cos it's a free night as opposed to the £38 the Caravan Club site want for the night. They wander off to Hawes for a look round, and yo won't believe this, they ave a pint in one of the pubs! Three other vans here so we ay on our ownsome and we ave a peaceful but rainy night.Read more

    • Day 2

      Dodd fell

      June 10, 2023 in England ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

1st day of the comp headed over to the back side of Dodd fell after briefing at the pub garden of Street Head. Trev needs to learn to shout louder when he briefs the pilots due to excess cat calling. A task was set, 60km to anywhere. Grant Crossingham gave it a punt, and in spite of adding a fair bit of air time to his log book he failed to inspire anyone else to join him.Read more
