London
April 25 in England ⋅ ☀️ 3 °C
Started the day with a jog around Regent Park / London Zoo with Krissi. The houses in the Swiss Cottage area were classic English homes - lots of money there! Good way to start the day despite the fact it was 3 degrees.
We then headed to the breakfast buffet with the kids - a highlight for Clare who has been asking for a hotel buffet ever since we landed.
Then we made the hike to Abbey Road Studios for the ‘photo’ and found there was also a merch store. So we decided to keep them afloat and buy a few things….🤣
Checked out of our hotel and into a black cab for the trip to our next hotel. Dropped off the bags as the room wasn’t ready - and did a little walk to the Thames and Trafalgar Square.
Next it was the epic trip to Harry Potter Studios all the way out in Watford - which meant a walk, a train, another train and then a shuttle bus.
All up we were in the tour for 3 hours. It was great actually, but as I’m not a huge HP expert maybe some of it was lost on me. None of it was lost on Clare who had a great time.
We found a store at the end - and decided to keep them afloat and purchase some merch. 🤣
Then we made the long trek back to our hotel and out for a pub meal.Read more

The best til last

What a great day we had on our last day in London. We went to Madam Tussaud's where we had photos with some famous faces. Then a leisurely stroll to the London zoo and a ride along the back canals of London lovingly called Little Venice. The long boat ride took us to the Camden market where we enjoyed some street food and shopping. We finished our night out at the theatre Come from away and a sneaky whisky.Read more

The London Zoo

No vacation is complete without a trip to the zoo (in my book anyway). Sadly, there appears to be no such thing as a sunny day in London, so we still had some rain to contend with. Many of the animals chose to take cover, but the London Zoo is laid out in such a way that you have a good view of both indoor and outdoor habitat areas.Read more

I farewelled Betty & Al at Heathrow after our 4 months on the road! What a fantastic time we've had together. Bek & I are now spending some lovely family time in London with Ross & Kimberly, Ellen has come down from York Uni for the weekend and we caught up with Nathaniel at his work this morning. So great to see them all before we head off to the USA for a month's travel. Always so much to see and do in London. Yesterday- the start of our theatre time! Beginning with Aladdin yesterday- it was great. Today John Soane Museum- interesting and then off to the British museum for the afternoon.Read more

AllHallows Eve is Halloween so we have now learnt the art of pumpkin carving. (Apparently started in Ireland where they carved turnips then the Irish immigrant took this to America). Cleaning out the inside was- MESSY.Read more

Bek & I had a great day day in London- London Eye & then the theatre 'An American In Paris' - loved it. Thanks London Gilmour's for a wonderful stay- we'll miss you all. Thanks Kim for the early morning coffee this morning and Ross driving us to the airport. Bek & I are now sitting at Heathrow waiting for our flight to Boston where a jet lagged Meaghan waits for us!Read more

Primrose Hill - Blick auf die Stadt

Vom riesigen Trubel der Camden Market ging es für uns in den Primrose Park. Obwohl Nadine erschöpft war und es sehr windig war, habe ich es geschafft, sie den Primrose Hill hochzuscheuchen. Der Hügel ist 78 Meter hoch und bietet einen wunderschönen Ausblick auf die Stadt London. Da der Park etwas außerhalb liegt ist die Stadt natürlich nur am Horizont zu sehen. Leider kommt der Ausblick auf den Fotos nicht so wunderschön zur Geltung wie in echt. Am Eingang des Primrose Park stand das wunderschöne kleine Häuschen. Ob noch jemand darin lebt, wissen wir leider nicht.Read more

The weather is really amazing not „londony“ at all.. no rain no clouds.. it’s a little to hot for a city trip🥵
After the waxy figures we had lunch in a beutiful garden and visited the animals in the zoo. Luckily Harry Potter wasn’t there and set a giant Boa Constricor free..🐍Read more

We've had a wonderful couple of days in London. Buckingham Palace, Harrods, Hummingbird Bakery, my favourite museum- The V & A, 2 more shows- 42nd Street (loved this!) and American in Paris.
