Creek Street, originally the red light district of Ketchikan is now a historical district filled with tourist shops, elevated over Fish Creek.
Every part of the cedar tree is used. Cedar bark is stripped very finely for weaving.
A fun way to celebrate our last day in Alaska - a presentation that showcases the timber industry. Wood chopping, log-rolling, climbing the trees, throwing the axe and heaps of audience participation.
We watch as families gather on the creek bank above the salmon ladder to catch the fish and release them back. The fish are so thick here, its hardly a sport.
