A busy Wednesday morningJune 28, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 75 °F
A stroll downtown as far as Penn Station, via Times Square, to buy the train tickets back to Newark Airport. We checked the logistics of the notice board and access to the tracks. It is a bit of a scrum, once the track is announced. The tickets work for any train any time on the New Jersey Transit system. The sales person pointed out to us that at 6 on Saturday there are only two trains then an hour's gap. Good to know.
We detoured through Macy's (NLB) then a planning meeting in Bryant Park.
The afternoon schedule was agreed: Flatiron Building, Union Square, Strand Books.
There is a connection between the Flatiron Building and Old Sturbridge Village. The maternal grandfather of the brothers who set up OSV was the architect of the Flatiron. A quick detour to see Teddy Roosvelt's house and a visit to CVS to stock up on pharmaceuticals at one-twelfth prices at home. We stopped off for a smoothy for MTC and a diet cola for me (me being smooth already) at McD in Union Square (very good AC & wifi).Read more
