Wir waren kaum im Hafen eingelaufen, da ging es mit dem Bus schon wieder ins Landesinnere. Ninh Bihn, unseren wohlklingender Zielort erreichten wir nach einer etwas anstrengenden Limousinenbusfahrt, bei der wir uns kurzfristig fragten, ob der Fahrer uns entführt. Dem war allerdings so, er wollte lediglich andere Mitreisende zu ihrem Anschluss bringen und fuhr deshalb eine halbe Stunde in die für uns "Falsche" Richtung.
In der ansprechenden Unterkunft wurden wir freundlich empfangen, leider auch von zwei Kakerlaken, was eine Nacht bei eingeschaltetem Licht zur Folge hatte. Vom langen Tag müde, konnte aber zumindest Lennart sehr gut schlafen. Bei der Bootsfahrt in Di san Thrang An am nächsten Tag erkundeten wir nicht nur eine kilometerlange Höhle, sondern machten auch Bekanntschaft mit Maeve und Toko. Mit der in Neuseeland lebenden Japanerin trafen wir uns auch zum Abendessen. Beim Erblicken von Kathrins von Pins gezeichneten Maps-Weltkarte musste sie gellend lachen und wusste anschließend genau, wer für die Planung der Reise zuständig ist. Generell war es in Vietnam bisher sehr einfach mit Reisenden ins Gespräch zu kommen, das ergab sich irgendwie immer ganz natürlich.
Zur Mua Höhle sollten wir am nächsten Tag Recht zeitig aufbrechen, um den steilen Aufstieg zur Aussichtsplattform vor der Mittagsonne hinter uns zu bringen. Die von Maeve angekündigten "500 stairs" erwiesen sich allerdigs als deutlich weniger. Bei der sengenden Hitze wollten wir uns allerdings nicht beschweren und erkundeten im Anschluss den Lotusgarten sowie die Bich Dong Pagoda. Die Abkühlung im Pool des Homestays brachte uns auf den Geschmack, bei den Temperaturen sollten wir wohl häufiger das kühle Nass aufsuchen.
Exkurs Geld:
Dass es in Vietnam einen gewissen Personenkult um Ho Chi Minh gib, lässt sich beim Blick auf die Geldscheine erahnen. Der Nationalheld ziert mit seinem Konterfei ziert mit seinem Konterfei sämtliche Banknoten. Der Wechselkurs des Dong ist mit 1 zu 27.000 etwas abenteuerlich. Interessant ist auch, dass die Scheine (Münzen gibt es auch gar nicht) teilweise transparent sind. "Plastikgeld" hat hier dem Vorteil, dass es um Gegensatz zu Papier widerstandsfähiger gegen die hohe Luftfeuchtigkeit ist.
