    gabbing stuff

    September 17, 2016 in the Netherlands ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

This is my first post so don't judge me. Cause most people unfortunately don't speak Dutch I'll do my blog in English. A'j neet twEngels kun't sprek'n of lez'n dan he'j 't schoap an't driet'n an en dat zal mien een bal jeuk'n.

I've got now the most of my stuff together for my trip. I had some vacuum bags, what awsome invention! The person who invented this should get a diploma for it! Now the my backpack is easier to pack. Currently trying to get all my stuff in the backpack, it takes a lot of effort. They should make an Olympic sport of it.

Tomorrow my full last day @ NL. Most people get some resting or chilling. Not for me! Tomorrow my last cross competition hopefully with podium place. Witch maniac would ever think doing one of the extreme sports just the day before they flew to their Holiday? I do! Haha.
After the competition a dinner with family and friends.

Monday going to the airport @ dusseldorf.

  • Last day @ NL

    September 19, 2016 in Germany ⋅ ☀️ 13 °C

Yesterday cross competition was good, eaten a lot of dirt! And most of all, I finished all manches with an broken engine! I finished 4th so a good result for the last competition.

In the evening had a dinner with most friends and family, that was an awsome surprise! Thanks everyone for the great evening.

Today try to catch my flight to Hong Kong it leaves 13:25 local time @ dusseldorf. I think this is the first time of my life I'll be bored for 11 hours! But I have to sleep. Cause I'll arrive 6:35 local time @ Hong Kong and want to see the city there. Else I have to bore myself for 15 hours wat in my opinion is impossible to accomplish.

  • first day Sydney

    September 21, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

Finally I could sleep in the plane, only I got a stiff neck from the chairs. I arrived @ 8:30 at the airport. The douane was a bit stricter. But lucky not as insane as on TV. Then wait for my transfer and arrived 11:00 at the hostel. I was still a bit tired so slept like an owl for a couple of hours.

I hoped the travel agency received my simcard. But that wasn't the situation. And the hostel has very expensive wifi. So now go to cafe's to get Internet. It's terrible, hopefully the simcard Will arrive in a few days.

And this evening hang out with my first Aussie mate!

I'll probably go to bed after sesamstraat so I'll be rested for tomorrow. Temperature is 19 degrees so a chill summer day @ Netherlands.

  • walk though Sydney

    September 22, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

Today first meet the group for introduction week. We went to the bank and activated our bank cards.

In the afternoon we went for a walk through Sydney. But I would guess Sydney is a part of the Netherlands, we had yesterday and today rain. Not as bad but had rain!? Dammit it's fuck'n Australia no rain is allowed! I think the rain must have sneaked into my backpack. Hopefully on my way back I take some Australian sunshine with me to Netherlands!

Tonight we had a drink and slice of pizza @ the bar downstairs. The beers and sigarrets are way expensive. Beer on happy our $5 and normal like $6,50 that sounds more like an unhappy hour... Lucky I don't smoke anymore! A pack of 24 sigarrets cost about $26 dollars! What!? Yes $26 dollars that's more than $1 each sigarret.. So if you wanna quit smoking just go to Australia. Other reasonably food is the same price as Netherlands.

Tomorrow hopefully no rain @ the boattrip.

    September 24, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

Today we had to experience an old classroom talk. It was all about work and traveling Australia. We had a lot of info so a lot to process.

In the afternoon we had a boar trip! Yeaaah!! It was all sunny and we had to go on a small boat and everyone thought NOOOOO!! That would never fit with almost 30 persons. But it would fit. And we had an awsome barbie(bbq) on board! We had a swim in the chilly water and learned some people say kippenvel! The pronounce was so terribly funny. Afterall it was an very good boat trip.

I grabbed a pizza with a couple of friends at domino's. Here it's so cheap, only $5,95. Other food is like $20. So really cheap!

Good night and maybe tomorrow we'll have an zombie walk in stead of an beach walk:-P.

  • Beach walk and bar walk!

    September 25, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

Yesterday we got to the sidebar. That's a bar beneath the hostel. A dutch friend Danielle she would order a drink there and an offer friend mara whistles at the manager. And de manager thinks Danielle did it so she get the wind up front. She was really pissed off. But luckily no fight.

This morning trying to get to the skydive center and they were closed! What!? They should be open. But doesn't matter. I got to a breakfast bar a downloaded a film totally legally:-D Haha. Got some food from the supermarket. I had to check blieb it myself, really strange. The meat is really expensive here. Like 1,5 times as high.

In the afternoon we had an beachwalk with an incredible sight. We walked though an incredible big graveyard!.

After getting back I went with my German roommate and an other German guy to domino's to get pizza. My roommate was angry that he talked all the time English to me while I could understand and speak a bit German. Haha. When we waited @ domino's some guy starts to kicking an other guy. The angry guy says: YOU STUPID FUCK! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? YOU DON'T FUCKING CALL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SIDEWALK!. Yeah I know, wtf is the angry guy thinking. The sidewalks are here 2 times as big als Holland. So I guessed the angry guy must have problems at home. Really weird situation but cool story :-P.

This evening we had an bar walk with 2 groups. The first 2 bars where okay. The third one was a club and it was a lot better than the bars we had been to so great!. From the club to the last bar we went 5 minutes with an party bus! It was awesome! Great music and everyone who was standing almost fell on the ground. At last we arrived at the sidebar again and this time it was an fuck'n good evening with a lot of mates!

Tomorrow checking out of the hostel and going to base camp above Newcastle. Goodnight fella's!

  • base camp!

    September 26, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

We are going with bus to basecamp. In total it was a drive of 4 hours and on the map of Australia is only 1mm. Australia is so big! We had to order alcoholic drinks before we arrived so they could get it from the store, $35 for 24 bottles of beer! So expensive here.

After we arrived we had to share a bungalow with 4 rooms and 24 sleeping places. It is here in nature, so much better than Sydney. Everyone whant to had a drink with the pizza. And it was raining so badly, nobody would run 100m to get the beer out of the van. Really! Today almost half day of rain and real hard rain. This is Australia why all the rain?. But finally we had the beer and did some games with a great group. After a while some people were tired and they get to bed. With the others we did go to the beach, it was very pretty with all the stars and the sound of the sea.

Monday we had to get early out of bed. Like 6 a clock and have breakfast. We went to the sand dunes here and went sandboarding. That was really a awsome experience!. We went to the dunes with some sick jeeps. And to get there we had an great off-road experience. On the way back we drove next to the sea on the beach. After we got back we left again for a 30 minute hike up the mountain with an incredible view!!

In the afternoon we had time off and went together to the beach, the weather was nice, sunny and 24 degrees. I tried to surf but couldn't get in the board. So I'll have to learn it at surfcamp.

    September 27, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

Last evening we had an good 'bbq'. Everything was already prepared and there was no actual bbq. A bit disappointing. After dinner we had an reptile show and could hold some lizards and snakes. It was very cool, luckily nobody was killed by harmless reptiles :-P I went to my room and found a spider, it was harmless and was like 6cm big. All the girls who stayed in that room panicked when they saw the picture!

after the reptileshow we went to party on the beach and make a fire. It was quite cold but with the fire it was just warm enough. I definitely will do it again!

This morning I went to see a car near basecamp. And I gonna buy it. But not now, I'll have to go to Sydney to skydive, and after an week I'll go back to get the car.

I was just in time back @ basecamp to pack my stuff to get to the harbor for a boattrip. With de boattrip we spotted some dolphins but they weren't getting close to the boat.

Now heading back to Sydney by bus and train.

I'll want to change my plans and move surfcamp up an week. Cause then I have time enough to get the car and travel through the blue Mountains up to surfcamp. And on my way I gonna buy some stuff for my car like refrigerator and mattress. And from one mile to surfcamp would be a long ride.

The bus and train trip was way to long! It took like 5 hours to get in Sydney.

Yesterday I had to arrange stuff like a Medicare card and pickup my new mobile number. I also went to the skydive center for information about next Saturday and he said that I could stay there at an hostel. I have to be on the dropzone @ 6:45 so that's a bit early. I also met a new friend Ryan, he's from the US and probably he'll come along with my car trip and travel together. I'll pick him up on my way to surfcamp.

Today I'll do my laundry and have an lazy day. Tomorrow I'm headed to the hostel @ the dropzone. I'll let you know how everything went with skydiving.

  • skydive center - arriving

    September 30, 2016 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 12 °C

Today I had to check out of the hostel. It was to bad. I thought it was nice with all the friends on the room.

I went to the skydiving center with train an cab, it took like 3 hours. Pff I'm happy when I finally have my car. I never ever did so less on a whole day as today. After arriving @ the dropzone I met some local people who lived there. What a mess! All old caravans and old buildings. But the people here are very cool. I walked around and every time I saw someone new. And I did completely nothing whole time from 2 pm.

I already have my wingsuite for tomorrow :-D. (wingsuite is for people above 300 jumps). Now early to bed because tomorrow we start at 6:45.

  • skydiving center - day 1

    October 2, 2016 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 17 °C

If you start with skydiving you do the AFF (accelerated free fall) course

First day ground course, there was a lot of information to process. We had to remember the hole first jump and all emergency procedures because @ your first jump you may need it.

The first jump you have to check if both jumpmasters (jm) are ready, then you signal and jump out of the plane together with 2 instructors. You always check your alti (altimeter or hightmeter) every few seconds. We had to do an practice throw, so we pretend if we wanted to trow our Parachute. After that another one. Than looking at your alti and wait until 5500ft (1,6km) than throw your parlet chute that opens your Parachute.

I passed the exam (theoretical and practical) and had to do the TAF (tandem assist fall) first. Because I didn't hear what the teacher was saying and did the wrong thing.

    Exited about tomorrow!

I don't have any pictures so sorry guy's!

  • skydiving center - day 2

    October 2, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Today my first day of skydiving!

    TAF STAGE 1
I had to put on an suit, goggles and alti. I was going with a tandem jump so like everyone else, but now I had to do also the routine of AFF STAGE 1. It went very well and we landed on our butt. I was a bit disappointed because I expected more from skydiving. But it was fun.

After doing the TAF 1 I had to do the AFF 1. But it was so busy that I had to wait till 12:30.

    AFF STAGE 1
I was briefed by the JM's and they took me through the dive and did a practice dirt dive (same as in the sky but om the ground). We went up in the plane and I jumped out of the plane. Got stabilized with 2 JM's attached to me. Checking my alti and looking around. @ 9000ft did an practice throw. Again check alti and looking around. @ 5500ft throw my first Parachute and it had line twists. So I had to turn to get rid of the twisted lines and grab the toggles (that's for steering the Parachute). Then look down to locate the dropzone. And find the arrow that the TA (target assistant) pointed. I had to follow exactly the way the arrow was pointing. After I was almost at the ground I had to follow the instructions of the TA for landing my Parachute. My landing was perfect. On 2 legs and only 2 passes walking. Jumping alone was so much more exiting than tandem jump! up to stage 2!

    AFF STAGE 2
Also briefed by my JM's. This jump I had to do and practice throw immediately after I stabilized. After that moving forward with my arms behind me. Than boxing position (the more relaxed position in free fall). After that Turning left. A guy asked if he could jump with us, he had an camera and filmed my jump for free!. I'll share the link for YouTube as soon if I got it on YouTube. When I jumped I forgot to do a practice throw and we didn't have time for an turn. I should opend my Parachute @ 5000 ft but was a bit to late @ 4500ft. Also reasonable opening of the Parachute, had to do a practice flare (brake) and Parachute was perfect. Also on directions of TA and landing was perfect! Up to stage 3!

I got briefed and everything, got on the plane but we couldn't get any higher than 8500ft (to many aircrafts in the sky). And for stage 3 we needed at least 9000ft. So had to land with the plane. Tomorrow next try for stage 3.

The weather today was perfect, not to much wind and 26 degrees. Just lovely!

Again sorry for letting you down on pictures guy's!. Movie is coming soon!

    October 4, 2016 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 14 °C

Today early out of bed to get on the first flight. But the wind was to strong to jump for an AFF course. And tomorrow would be worse. So I made the decision to get my car and stay 1 night next to BASE CAMP! An other student took me to the train station in Sydney, thanks mate!

Wait 50 minutes for the train, than 2 hours train drive and another 60 minutes waiting for the bus. Than 60 minutes with the bus. Sooooo long drive. I finally got to the bungalow Park and got my car finally! 4WD yeah!

Got some groceries at the aldi... Yeah I thought wtf aldi! But it's real, even all the weird items in the middle. They even got solar panels for camping!

After I got back I went to the base camp site to meet my other mates! They didn't expect it, especially Ryan. But it was so cool! We went to the beach and had a great fire. It was so cosy, even way better than last time. I had an great fuck'n time.

Tomorrow get my car all sorted out and get other stuff EN go back to the dropzone.

    October 6, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

The wind was to strong wensday. So I couldn't jump all day. I waited for a couple of hours for the wind to drop but it didn't happen. So I drove to try to get my car on my name. They are so exhausting, I had to have a paper signed that I was staying @ some place. So when I got that I can go back and try again.

In the evening I got and actual fridge, only 240v power so that should be no problem because I got an inverter. The Indian people where I bought it from they where so kind! I had something to drink and they give me some blankets. After that I got an roof case for the car so I had some more storage space.

  • 2nd jump day

    October 8, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Today I finally could jump for my STAGE 3. Everything went well until 1 JM let's me go and came up front of me I started to turn slowly. After the other JM releases me I started to spin quickly. And he came back to me and pulled my Parachute. So that's not a good thing. With the landing I flared (brake) to quickly and dropped like 3 meters to the ground. The landing was pretty hard and I bruised my heel. I did put some ice on it and It didn't swell as much. I couldn't walk on my heel it was to painful. So I need to rest my feet couple of days or maybe weeks. I'll see. Luckily it's my left heel and I got an automatic car!. So driving is possible.

After I'm fit again I can do STAGE 3 again.

  • lot of driving in Sydney.

    October 9, 2016 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 17 °C

Yesterday I did a lot of driving and walking wat not my best idea ever was. But I got some timber and today I made my floor in the car. I tried to connect the fridge. But unfortunately my inverter isn't strong enough and have to sell my to big fridge. I also got another fridge witch is a bit smaller and works on 12v. So much better. Now only have to figure out a good way to mount the solarpanels on my roof.

The traffic here is quite weird. Besides driving on the other side of the road they have traffic lights before and after a crossroad. See the picture. Also the speedlimits, that's so NOT handy. They got 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 100 and 110. So in the city I drive together with other traffic or else I drive just as hard as I think It should be. I don't know how fast I can go everywhere. But I just drive. The most dangerous things are roundabouts. Everytime I look to the left in stead of the right. Had because of that already almost 3 accidents.

My friend Ryan was driving with an rental car with some others of his ultimate Oz group. He drove once @ the wrong side of the road and he couldn't go to the other side because the ways were separated from each other. Luckily there was nobody and a driving lane where he could turn around. Else he would definitely had a flat nose. Alswell he and the car.

    October 10, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 31 °C

Today finally got the car on my name. And in the shopping centre finally got wifi to update my apps. You use really a lot of data over here!.

My feet is slowly getting better. I definitely shouldn't walk that much when you got an sore foot. But yeah I have to do a lot of things and I can not wait. No I'm not stubborn.. :-P

This evening met some guys and buyed there Matress. They don't needed it so that's perfect. Now only the solarpanels.

Today the weather was good. It was 35 degrees. So fine day over here! Tomorrow probably a lot colder with 25 degrees.

The consumption of fuel is not that bad. The car uses 1 litre per 7,5 km. And that's with an v6 3,3 liters and Hill up and Hill down. And I think the weight is almost 1900kg. So it's really not that bad.

Today was my last day at the hostel @ bondi beach. It was very windy today and also raining. Luckily is Lennon (car) water and wind proof. I had to wear my long jeans and sweater and still it was cold.

I drove to the royal national park and all the toll gates were closed. So just drive along. I stopped at at some viewing point. Then to a beach, it was nice over there.

Then I went to Wattamolla, that was so awesome! Real good! There was a lake that's sometimes connected with the sea. It was so nice there and there was almost no wind and that made the temperature so much better. I jumped also off an cliff of 6 meters high I guess, that was so cool to do! The movie is coming soon! It was a paradise over there.

In the evening I drove to the village in the top of royal national park where I met 2 other backpackers. They were cooking spaghetti. I talked to them and they asked me If I wanna join them. So I did. We went to the 'balcony' that are a lot of rocks that looks like a lot of balcony's. And we ate there with view on the sea. Afterwards we were chilling underneath a rock and watched the sunset, light bulb of Sydney and the moon. Is was a good evening!

    October 15, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

Today I woke up @ 6:00 to watch the sunrise. That was very beautiful and cold. I had 2 vests and it was still cold. Then I hiked for like 2 hours and found some abandoned cave house. That was so cool to see! Look at the view from the window. I also saw the first wild Kangaroo! Look for it in the picture with bushes. Leave a comment if you find it.

Then I drove to an other car park and hiked to the burning palms beach, that was only a few km but it was intense. Next to the beach you could walk over an sidewalk of the rocks to the figure of eight pools. One side was a cliff other side was the sea. The sidewalk was 10 meters wide and the water was splashing over the sidewalk. That was so cool!. The hike was over rocks and stuff, there was no walking path so a lot of jumping from one rock to the other. The pools were so great! Just a natural bathtub witch is almost 2 meters deep and 1.5 meter diagonally. In the pools where living corals, really special to see. When I arrived to my car I hiked enough for today (almost 5 hours). I used the stove for the first time making the best backpack meal ever! NOODELS! Haha.

Now see if I can sleep somewhere and see what I'm doing tomorrow.

  • surfcamp!

    October 21, 2016 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 18 °C

Hi guys! Finally learning to surf! Exited, yeah!. I had to be 11:30 @ surfcamp at latest. I couldn't find it straight away so I was exactly on time on surfcamp and nobody was there. So most times are ish over here. We were sleeping in a few bungalows around an central sitting place. It was very cool. We could fit an wetsuit after lunch and go surfing straight away.

We had to walk 10 minutes to the beach. We had some explanation of surfing. The surf check is important to look at the surfing conditions. Also how to stand up on the board is pretty handy with surfing :-P. After warming up we went into the water.

The first time was pretty hard to stand up and I had to take some time to do all the movements right. But after an hour I could stand up on my board. That was so cool!

In the evening we had some drinks and did some beer pong and ofcourse perudo! Best game ever.

The next days we had different surfing Conditions and I could stand up more quickly and did even some tricks! Every evening we went to the beach to party. This was so awsome week! Maybe after a while I'll do again some days of surfcamp!

And because I had a car I did a beer run. Not as big as campzone but still worth it:-P.

Now searching for a own Surfboard and wetsuit. Next stop is the dropzone to do some more jumps this week, and hopefully finish my a license!

  • 4wd track

    October 22, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 6 °C

There was a lot of lightning and rain last night. I stayed pretty long in My car. I tried to find the earplugs for the thunder. But couldn't find them. I searched the hole car and still couldn't find it. So I went back to surfcamp and couldn't find it there either. So that was a good start of my day (not)... But no worries nobody died.

I wanted to get some stuff for my car and get some food. I got stuck with fitzroy falls. I hiked over there to see some waterfalls, it was pretty cool. Especially the waterfall on the cave! When I was hiking I saw an 4wd road. I went back to my car and took that road (movie is coming). The woman from the information desk sad I might have to turn around at the end because of the rain last night. I drove all the way to the end without any troubles, it was a lot of fun.

A Kilometer further an other 4wd track appears, I took the track. This was a bit more difficult than the one before. I used a piece of wood to see how deep the puddle of water was. And mostly it was not so deep. One puddle was just as deep as the bottom of the car completely touched the water. And unfortunately I hesitatet with one puddle to drive trough it. I wished I haven't done it. Unfortunately I got stuck. So tried some things to get out but got no luck. So I started walking and running back. Went to a few houses and finally after 45 minutes(35 minutes walking and running on the track) I found a house where somebody was home. I asked her if she could help me. But she hadn't an rope or chain to pull me out. She called pete (an neighbor) and asked if he got an rope or chain. And he wanted to pull me out with his tractor. She drove me to his shed and there Pete was getting some stuff to dig me out if it was necessary. I sad on the tractor and when we got @ the car. It was only a few seconds and I was out of the puddle. I thanked Pete for his help. The people are so nice and helpful here.

I drove back to the road and headed to an village with the aldi!. In between I stopped. When I would head off I tried to start the motor and heard a bang, than screaming sound and a lot of smoke coming from the hood. I thought nooooo you got to be kidding me. So I turned off the motor and tried again. Then I went looking under the hood and found a broken vbelt of the power steering. So I removed It and started the motor again. So now car driving is a workout for my arms. I'm gonna fix it next week. I think all the shopping centers for those things are closed.

So afterall I had a perfect day! It was raining, lost my ear plugs, got stuck with my car and v-belt of power steering has broken. Pff, but it was an good story for this blog.
