Started our day from our stay in Ponds Resort just outside Miramichi. Great place to stay complete with our own sauna and propane fire pit! Peaceful stay right on the Miramichi river. One thing to note thought- pub and restaurant here are only open Thursday to Sunday. Hiked to a Nelson Hollow Bridge and Fall Brook Falls waterfall (quite a treacherous hike but Barry got all the way to the top). Next stop was in Sussex for lunch at JJ diner. A cute diner with a 50’s vibe. Food was good too! Toured some of the murals, Sussex is known as the mural capital of Canada. Made our way to the beautiful sea caves in St. Martins! Put our toes in the ocean and took in the scenery. This is a must stop!Read more
Fantastic start to the day! We had the best breakfast at Evangeline Bed and Breakfast. Breakfast consisted of freshly squeezed peach juice, coffee, blueberry cinnamon rolls, fruit and real cream with honey and a loaded quiche plate! We stayed here last night in this charming old home built in 1890. An experience to remember for sure it was great! We got to Halifax about 1:00 checked in to the Barrington Hotel. Spent the rest of the day on the wharf checking out the local pubs, entertainment and shops! A very fun time!Read more
Started our day at Alexander Kiefs Brewery and market down by the wharf! Enjoyed a market cinnamon roll and coffee on the pier. Next was Peggy’s Cove. I loved it here! Stunning views, history and art. My favourite spot so far. Stopped for a Foggy Doggy and Seagull Screamer lol, before heading back to Halifax, they were delicious☺️And the roses are absolutely beautiful in Nova Scotia, large, fragrant blooms everywhere!Read more
Enjoyed this historical charming town. Learned more about the Bluenose and Bluenose II and the original fishing schooners and dory’s of Lunenburg. Bluenose was built in 1921 and was the fastest fishing schooner ever built and was known for the largest catch of fish! It was so interesting to see the living quarters and hear about how the fishing crews lived and worked! The youngest crew member to ever to work on a fishing boat was 7 years old! Most started when they were only 10!! Had the best fish and chips! We stopped by the memorial site of the Titanic and Halifax explosion. Then took a harbour tour on the harbour hopper which is a truck/boat vehicle. An old Vietnam war vehicle turned into a tour vessel. And of course enjoyed live music at the local pubs throughout our stay. Amazing!Read more
Wonderful stay in Charlotte Town. Enjoyed the wharf and amenities. Victoria Row made for a fun evening. Had a nice breakfast at Kettle Black a cute little bistro, very charming! Visited Beaconsfield Historical House. Toured on to Cavendish the next morning made a detour to Deep Roots distillery. A fun tour through the Apple orchard and some sample tasting was delightful! Then we went to Anne of Green Gables, a very whimsical time, reminiscing about the adventures of Anne Shirley :) I even walked through the “Haunted Woods” We then walked through the town of Avonlea, which is now gift shops, eateries and pubs, again very charming! Then took a stroll down Cavendish beach and ended the day with supper at the Lost Anchor. Named after the discovery of the Marco Polo ship. Day 2 in PEI we spent relaxing on the beach. Brackley beach had a beautiful stretch of red sand and a great spot to go for a dip!Read more
