We're here!! Got an Uber from Nice airport, it was a black Tesla. Navigated through the streets of Antibes using google maps to find our little alleyway apartment. First challenge was getting our cases up the spiral staircase to the second floor. Cute little apartment and obviously they have tried to use every space available. Interesting kitchen design.
We went our for an explore and had dinner at '32 Pizza & Bar'. Amelia and I watched the sole 'chef with attitude' cook pizza's.
Went back to the apartment and all fell asleep and apart from an hour or so awake during the night, we all had a great sleep.Read more

Exploring Antibes

We only have one day in Antibes so set out this morning to explore. We started down at the Mariner to check out the mega rich people's toys. Their 'crews' were out scrubbing the decks and polishing everything else. We wandered the streets, took a few wrong turns in the maze of little streets and alleyways. Managed to find our way back and came across a great place for a late lunch, Amelia tried 'Moules Frite' mussels and chips. The day wouldn't be complete without a gelato (check out the pic!) and of course Amelia had macarons.Read more

Sophia Antipolis

Up at the crack of dawn to walk to the bus station, hauling luggage along cobbled streets for 30 mins was definitely challenging. We're on the move today to Sophia Antipolis where Paul has a few days of meetings. Time for Amelia & I to put our feet up and relax. I thought it was going to be a great opportunity for us to chill & get over jet lag but we seem to be fine. Kind of a remote location so enjoyed the day in the courtyard catching up on a bit of reading.
We're staying at the Novatel and its very nice. Paul and his 'friends' sat at the table next to us for lunch, that felt a bit weird.

Paul's day two of meetings.
Good start, after showering, I took my bottle of perfume out of my toilet bag with slippery hands and dropped it on the tiled bathroom floor. The room smells AMAZING and will for some time.
We all had breakfast together before he left for his meeting. Amelia and I walked to St Philippe to get out for a bit and also pick up some bug spray and after bite relief from a Pharmacy. We went early because it is supposed to rain today.
Shared a bowl of fries at lunch time and a sneaky dessert. We were about to look at the dessert menu when the waiter brought over a complimentary dessert from himself.
Paul went out with colleagues for dinner so Amelia and I had bolognese in the hotel dining room.
Getting ready for bed I put my PJ's on and was reminded that they were on the bathroom floor when I dropped the perfume!Read more

Enroute to Venice...

Left hotel @ 9am cutting it very fine for the train @ 9:35. Uber got us there in time and we then relaxed and were very relieved. Next minute the train arrived and we couldn't get on with all of our bags because there were so many ppl standing. Couldn't believe it. Got the next train at 10:06 still so many ppl that we had to stand most of the way to Ventimiglia. We had to buy a new ticket once we got to Italy 🇮🇹 because we missed our next leg.
Left Ventimiglia at 11:57 for Savona, relaxing trip with seats available, then onto Milan. Had 6 minutes to get to the platform to catch connecting train to Verona, 4 flights of stairs with all of our luggage, made it! No seats available so had to stand for the majority of the trip
Train was late so now 2 mins once in Verona to get from platform 3 to platform 10 to make it onto the train to Venice, more stairs and also made it!
Finally arrived in Venice at 8:37pm.

A day in Venice

Considering there were supposed to be thunderstorms from lunchtime, we had an awesome day discovering Venice.
Caught the bus this morning, bought the ticket via WhatsApp?? Took a while to figure that out! Venetian masks and beautiful Murano glass galore.
The canals busy with traffic, boat taxi's & gondolas. Even had the boat Police race by with sirens and flashing lights.
Finished off the day with a Carbonara (large) and walked back to our room in the rain.Read more

Had a fabulous day discovering Florence. Walked from our hotel into the heart of the city and 'wow' you knew when you had arrived. The old buildings and architecture were incredible and then you happen across the luxury shopping district! (Totally out of our league)Read more

Fabulous first day in Paris. We fast trained in from Lyon where we had to stopover to have a few hours sleep after busing from Turin. This was an extra stop because of the rockfall in the alps which has stopped all trains passing through.Read more

On the move again to Amsterdam

Left Paris hotel quite early. Lugging all the bags down the 5 flights of spiral staircase wasn't as bad as I dreaded (Paul did most)
Walked to Gare du Nord train station and hopped on the Eurostar which sped us to Amsterdam, took the city tram to our hotel.
Went for an afternoon wander around to check out the city and spotted some things for revisiting tomorrow. So many ppl travelling on bikes, commuters, ppl out shopping, you have to keep your wits about you so you don't get in their way!Read more
