This place was amazing! I wasn't expecting much, but it was very impressive how deep this canyon was (it's my first time seeing a canyon) and it was a little scary looking down! We did a small loop around and followed the path of where the water was flowing. It was quiet refreshing, as there are some areas where you can feel a light spray of water from the canyon. Just be wary of some of the steps as they can be quite slippery, especially the rocks.Read more

First stop of the day! Athabasca Falls. It was spectacular! It doesn't seem like much at first sight as it seems like a flat stream, but once you get to the fenced area a bit further down, you'll see the flow of water. I was lucky enough to capture long exposure shots of the waterfall without my filter and tripod as it was quite dark and gloomy when we went. The further you walk down, the more impressive the waterfall gets! Worth a visit.Read more

Sunwapta Falls

Not far from the Athabasca falls, we made a quick stop to Sunwapta Falls. It's not as big as the other waterfalls we have seen but it still has its unique features. One thing Ifirst noticed about the place was the amount of Crows that wander around. They can get very close and they're probably just searching for food so there's nothing to be afraid of! In fact, I find them pretty cool!

Sunwapta has interesting trees around. The roots all come up and create this wonderful pattern. Mind your step though, as you can easily trip and fall over them.Read more

For this trip, we bought tickets to go up onto the glacier which also includes the skywalk. We spent about 3 hours for both the glacier tour and skywalk.

There's a cafeteria at the centre, but I recommend avoiding it during lunch hours. Our tour was at 1pm so we though we might grab something to eat before our tour. However, the lines were huge, it was packed and a lot of the things were sold out!
We came back after our tour where there were less people but food was limited.

There's a bus that takes you to the base of the glacier. It's a 10 minute ride just across the road from the centre carpark. The bus driver we had was very informative and gave us information and facts about the glaciers. You'll see mountain goats on the way up too!

It's really windy and cold at the base of the glacier. To go up onto the glacier, there's another vehicle you take. The driver gave us more in depth information about the glaciers which was pretty cool. On the way to the glaciers you'll see the double A glaciers - Andromadon and I can't remember the other glaciers name!

You get 30 minutes to have a wander around, to take photos and take in the view! We also got to fill our bottles up with glacier water.... Very refreshing and cold. Just be mindful... It can get quite slippery.

Overall I was very pleased with this experience. It was breathtaking and I was glad I got to experience what water tastes like straight from the glacier!

The same vehicle will take u back to the centre after 30mins. You must be on time, otherwise you'll miss out on the ride back to the car park!Read more

Athabasca Glaciers Skywalk

After arriving back at the centre, we took another bus ride to the skywalk platform. This ride took about 15mins and our driver also gave us facts about the geology and flora and fauna around the area.
At the skywalk, there are buses that come every 30 minutes to take you back to the car park. So there's no time limit!
There's an option of taking a free audio tour. I took one but someone was speaking to me when I was listening to the instructions, so I missed all of the instructions on how to use it!

Theres a path that takes you to the main skywalk and on the way to it, there is amazing views of the other glaciers surrounding. You can also spot some of the waterfalls and streams that come from the glacier.

The main platform was quite an experience! Probably not the best for someone with fear of heights, but it is quite an adrenaline rush being able to see the bottom from under your feet! There are quite a lot of people around, but the views are amazing. It's worth going!

You'll also see some mountain goats climbing up the side of the mountains. It's interesting to see how they manage to do that on such a steep mountain side!

Afterwards, we made our way back to the bus line and took the bus back to the centre.

Overall this whole experience was great, it's worth going to both the glaciers and skywalk if u have the time! In my opinion, walking on the glaciers was my favourite out if the two!Read more

Peyto Lake

Our last destination of the day was Peyto Lake. Its a 10 minute walk from the main car park, but it's a gorgeous walk! There was still snow around this area so we were careful not to slip and fall. There were tall green trees all around, reminded me a bit of Christmas!
The first view of the lake is stunning. Honestly one of the bluest lakes I've seen. I've heard that this lake looked like a cat or a bear. To my eyes it looks like a cat.Read more
