Oggi è stata una giornata emozionante.
Questa mattina siamo andati a vedere un funerale tradizionale di Toraja, dove vengono fatto dei sacrifici animali (bufali e maiali) per la persona morta. A dipendenza della ricchezza della famiglia vengono sacrificati più o meno animali - i famigliari lavorano una vita per poter comperare i bufali per il funerale. Si può dire che qui vivono per il loro funerale.
Dopodiché ci siamo spostati ad un’inaugurazione di una nuova casa, dove abbiamo ricevuto un buon pasto e visto le danze tipiche di Toraja. Anche qui per tradizione sacrificano maiali che poi vengono macellati e distribuiti a famigliari ed amici.
Una mattinata piena di emozioni, ho visto delle scene brutali, ma è una cosa da vedere una volta nella vita.

Al pomeriggio ho fatto un giretto in scooter con la mia guida e visto tanti campi di riso (purtroppo per via della siccità tanti sono secchi). Siamo andati a vedere la statua del Christo a Makalé a 1700m, che con i suoi 40m è una delle più grandi del mondo.
Di seguito Lemo con le sue statue. Le famiglie ricche ricevono delle statue dai propri famigliari. Ma solo le famiglie ricche le ricevono…
E infine siamo andati a vedere le tombe dei neonati: quando morivano i neonati venivano e vengono tutt’ora, messi in delle cavità negli alberi, i quali rilasciano una linfa bianca che veniva creduta essere il latte della mamma pianta che veniva dato ai bambini.
Queste tombe si trovano in un giardino con tantissime spezie, piante di cotone e tante piante che noi consumiamo in cucina.
È stata proprio una bella giornata!

Today was an emotional day.
This morning we went to see a traditional Toraja funeral, where animal sacrifices (buffalo and pigs) are made for the deceased person. Depending on the family's wealth, more or fewer animals are sacrificed - the family members work a lifetime to be able to buy buffaloes for the funeral. It can be said that they live here for their funeral.
After that we moved to a housewarming, where we had a good meal and saw typical Toraja dances. Here too, traditionally they sacrifice pigs which are then slaughtered and distributed to family and friends.
An emotional morning, I saw some brutal scenes, but it's a once in a lifetime thing to see.

In the afternoon I took a scooter ride with my guide and saw many rice fields (unfortunately due to the drought many are dry). We went to see the Jesus statue in Makalé at 1700m, which at 40m is one of the largest in the world.
Later Lemo with his statues. Families receive statues from their family members when they die. But only the richer family gets them…
And finally we went to see the graves of the newborns: when the newborns died they came and still come, placed in cavities in the trees, which release a white sap which was believed to be the milk of the mother plant which was given to the children.
These tombs are located in a garden with lots of spices, cotton plants and many plants that we consume in the kitchen.
