  • Night in LA.

    1 oktober 2019, Förenta staterna ⋅ 🌙 17 °C

Staying at the Embassy Suites North LAX for the evening. It’s been a long day so I’m picking up some to-go food from the hotel bar to eat in bed. How lazy is THAT?! Inspired by Terry of course, who is in bed being sickly. Our room is a 2 room suite (all they had available) with a lovely view of the hotel center out the sitting room window and a fascinating view of the dumpsters out the bedroom window. 🙃Läs mer

  • San Diego day 1

    2 oktober 2019, Förenta staterna ⋅ 🌙 18 °C

After sitting in hours of traffic we finally arrived. We checked into our AirBNB (more about that later) then went for dinner with Kristen and Michael (Terry’s daughter and her husband). Dinner was at Pizza Port in Ocean Beach. After that we went to Golden State Dispensary then to Kristens apartment to watch a movie. Couldn’t ask for better weather!!Läs mer

  • Ocean Beach dinner

    3 oktober 2019, Förenta staterna ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

After the Urgent Care experience that took up 4 hours of the day (Terry is gonna be ok) we chilled out back of the room at our private little pool for awhile. Then met Kristen and went back to Ocean Beach for Taco Thursday @ South Beach Bar & Grill. Along with $3 tacos Terry got a margarita with some sort of sprinkles on it. 🤷🏻‍♀️. A trip to Lighthouse Ice Cream and walk on the beach finished the night off.Läs mer

  • Cornado beach and Little Italy

    4 oktober 2019, Förenta staterna ⋅ ☀️ 13 °C

Beautiful beach for sure!!! Also home of a naval base. Chilled at Hotel del Coronado for a bit (it’s actually a famous hotels visited by presidents, queens, and of course Marilyn Monroe)! After watching the sunset on the beach caught a ride over to Little Italy. Mona Lisa Italian for the cheesiest lasagne ever followed by “Salt and Straw”, the most unique hand made ice cream flavors I’ve ever seen!! Everything was Delicious! We ended the night with a walk on the harbor to see Kristen’s old boat, it has maybe the best view of the city line I’ve seen!Läs mer

  • On the boat day 2

    5 oktober 2019, Australien ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

I carry a constant supply of Dramamine on me as well as a tiny patch behind my ear, both of these things keep me from puking 24/7 lol. This is a fun and clean little ship, I hate this is its last Hurrah! But, the renovating will get rid of the pink zebra doughnut pattern splattered on the walls and everywhere in between. It makes me think of a pepto bismuth palace. I love our balcony and feel that I can escape the pink “ness” anytime I like by sitting on the balcony and staring at the sea. Today we mingled about and went to a comedy club thing. We also ate a great breakfast with gluten free eggs benny as well as Terry’s “12 hr French toast”. Dinner was a game hen with shiitake mushrooms and napa cabbage.
I’ve discovered a lot of the geriatrics on this ship have door posters, etc on their cabin doors. One door in particular has little refrigerator magnet letters on their door for people to scramble into different words. Little did they know.... 😂

  • Day 3 in the pepto palace

    7 oktober 2019, North Pacific Ocean ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

We got to see a beautiful sunset last night after the “piano rock show” and I woke up in time to catch the last part of the sun rise again this morning. I set my alarm so I would make the “learn to knit” class with all the old ladies. Let me tell ya, I suck at knitting. While some made nice little bookmarks and squares, I on the other hand made some sort of a loose sad lookin archway. Not sure how I messed it up so incredibly bad, but if someone is looking for a very small loosely knitted archway I’m your hook up. The semi experienced British lady next to me kept using the term “knocking off”. Which makes knitting sound fun if that’s actually a real term. :-). If I get up early tomorrow I may rejoin the group and see if they can diagnose my issues. It’s great weather today, I’m fixing to get in the pool and even out my face from my unilateral sunburn on the left half of my face. I’m still unsure how that happened.Läs mer

  • Shipping lanes and lobsters

    8 oktober 2019, North Pacific Ocean ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

Last night they fed us lobster. (I had 3, don’t judge). Terry opted to also receive the prime rib the. He and I both had vanilla cream brûlée for desert. Delicious. This morning I skipped breakfast and had a couple slices of gluten free pizza for lunch.
The Capitan of the ship made arrangements to intersect with another ship along the shipping lane so we were able to wave at them and blow out horn. Today we mostly just tried to plan out our Hawaii days. Still kinda clueless of what to do. Internet would make the task much easier. I realize I take Google and technology for granted. One more day before Maui!!

  • Ali'i Kuna Lavendar farm

    10 oktober 2019, Förenta staterna ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Absolutely the most beautiful place to visit!! Not only is this a working lavender farm on the island, it’s also a botanical adventure!!! I could have spent the entire day here looking at all the flowers I never even knew existed. That evening we stopped at the Hawaiian version of a Denny’s, it’s called “Zippys”. The menu reminded me of all the foreign flowers I looked at, so many things I never knew existed. Hawaiians eat some weird stuff.....Läs mer

  • Road to Hana, Maui

    10 oktober 2019, Förenta staterna ⋅ ⛅ 31 °C

Today was jam packed full of things to do and see! I decided renting a car and exploring on our own was more suited to our desires to see the most we could in one day. Picked up a bright red convertible from the airport and off we went! There’s a route called “the Road to Hana”. It’s about 60 miles, 650 hair pin curves, and visits all off he different ecosystems of the island in one trip. Now most people go on the Classic route, which stays on pavement and is pretty easy to maneuver. I on the other hand chose to do the entire loop. Since most of it isn’t paved and is on the side of cliffs, it’s supposed to take about 9/10 hours because you can’t go much over 15mph. We had a blast! Saw so many things including cows and chickens in the middle of the road, waterfalls, and a extremely rustic roadside “coconut BBQ” shack along the side of the road. It was interesting to say the least, good news is that we didn’t get sick! I have many more pictures but these are a start .Läs mer

  • Oahu.

    11 oktober 2019, Förenta staterna ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

The big island! Landed in Honolulu which puts one in the mind of any big city, until you travel OUT of the city. We rented a car (terry picked the corvette 😎) and decided to drive the perimeter of the island. What did we find you ask? Abandoned cars galore, a huge feral chicken issue, and endless beauty! Yes, I did say feral chickens. Story goes a hurricane blew a ton of chicken coops onto the island and the chickens have been taking over ever since. I first noticed them at Home Depot, then on the highway, and don’t forget chickens on the beach!! lol. It was quite comical. But there is such a huge homeless issue there I’d say they may be utilized for dinner more that we know.
Abandoned cars everywhere, all vandalized and most of them inhabited by the homeless. This story goes that people come to the island and can’t afford the cost of living, and when they can’t afford the cost to ship their vehicle elsewhere they just abandon them. There is also no scrap yard on the island. It’s strange.
Shrimp trucks!!! We stopped at “Nigo’s at pier 38” as well as “Giovanni’s shrimp truck”. Both delicious!!! We had to follow the food with an authentic shaved ice from the famous Matomotos (they call to “shave ice, omitting the D”, but that sounds weird to me. It’s a Hawaiian thing to add sweetened condensed milk to the top of the ice after the flavor is on. So we got it that way, and it was Delicious!!!!
I also HAD to stop at the authentic Waialua Sugar Mill and Coffee plantation. Very quaint but super cool! I got to see coffee trees as well a caco plants. The coffee beans are the red seeds from these trees.
Mermaid Caves are a must see as well as North Shore. So this is a place where one day isn’t nearly enough!!
I totally didn’t mention visiting Pearl Harbor as well as driving into the diamond head crater through a tunnel. Super cool!!!

  • International date line and lobsters

    14 oktober 2019, North Pacific Ocean ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

Lots of days at sea. Some of the activities are kind of neat, some not so much. Plenty of time spent in the pool, jacuzzi, and reading on our balcony. It’s kind of difficult to keep up with all the time changes. The ship crossed the international date line yesterday, what that means is we are now a day (and some hours) ahead of Eastern time zone. I’m typing this on Wednesday afternoon and it’s still Tuesday afternoon in TN. One of the people at our dinner table had a birthday on October 14th. Since we went from the 13th to the 15tb when we crossed the line, that poor fellow didn’t get a birthday. What he still got was birthday cake though, that made up for it. :-). Tonight is dress up night in the dining room so I get to feast on Lobster again! (My reward for wearing nice clothes). Lol. I attended a lecture today on Astronomy which was very interesting. There are so many advanced apps now that make stargazing super interesting!
I will be purchasing 24 hours of internet again this week to plan what we will be doing in Guam and Malaysia. I also need to book the tour of the Great Wall of China for when we are in Beijing. I suppose this post won’t be read until I have internet anyway. So until then!!! 🙃

  • Real life murder mystery

    17 oktober 2019, Förenta staterna ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

Pretty melodramatic title eh? With a boat full of geriatrics, one must wonder “how many will die on the trip?”. I inquired and they do, in fact, have a morgue on the ship. As well as a jail. Lol I was unaware of how many people have been murdered as have taken their lives on cruises! The stories are quite interesting.
We were awakened about 6am by a ship wide alert for “all Available medical staff report to station 8733”. I immediately through “that’s not a station, that a room!”. Obviously something bad happenedand the person couldn’t make it to the medical facilities down below. I ALSO thought “hey, that’s a few doors down from our room!”. No more was spoken of this event, but upon investigating, the male individual did indeed die. (I sooooo want the details!”. I never thought of it before, but that room becomes a crime scene until authorities can investigate, and that wouldn’t happen until we were at our next port nearly a week later. Until then, we walk by the pseudo crime scene on our to and fro, wondering “what happened”.

  • Cruising to Guam

    19 oktober 2019, Förenta staterna ⋅ 🌙 18 °C

Almost to Guam! I have been reading, soaking up the rays during the times on not in the pool, and of course watching the ice carving demonstrations. Lol. The demonstration its self was a 20min times event. Apparently a carving normally takes several hours. I suppose that’s why his completed work looked more like a hot mess the anything recognizable. I’ve been trying to decide what to do in Guan the half a day we are there. During my research I did find out we will be crossing the deepest part of ocean in the world around 5am or so. It’s called “The Martiania Trench” and is where all the deep sea explorations the place. Cool huh?! It’s a wee 36,000 feet deep. Also, Guam is considered (since it’s a US territory) “Where America’s day begins”. An entire day ahead of USA. I’ll be able to see Sunday morning when everyone at home is still experiencing Saturday morning. Until then!!!

(Ps, I also attached a picture of a double rainbow outside our balcony 🌈)
