SB Day 12: Bergen Disembarkation
19 de agosto, Noruega
“Vort Hjerte veed, vort Øye seer,
hvor godt og vakkert Norge er...”

How good and beautiful Norway is …)
OK. Yes. ILeia mais
SB Day 12: Bergen Bound
19 de agosto, Noruega
The last day of our voyage.
Overnight, we stopped in Ålesund, Torvik, and Måløy. The short stops went unnoticed. But I can’t say the same about the motion of the ocean between Torvik andLeia mais
SB Day 11: Kristiansund
18 de agosto, Noruega
Not to be confused with Kristiansand, which is just east of the tip of Norway … quite a distance from where we are presently.
Kristiansund was today’s second long stop … longish is probablyLeia mais
SB Day 11: Trondheim
18 de agosto, Noruega
Last night was a bit rocky … probably the most motion we’ve felt at any point on this cruise, including the times when the vessel goes out to the open seas for a couple of hours.
We had read thatLeia mais
SB Day 11: Stalking Olga
18 de agosto, Noruega
Mui’s an early bird.
He gets up, gets dressed, and heads up to deck 6 to get a cup of coffee from the machine, check his newsfeed to catch up with the world.
On m/s Havila Castor, he’s beenLeia mais
SB Day 10: Rørvik

Last stop of the day …
SB Day 10: Brønnøysund
17 de agosto, Noruega
Today’s long stop — one hour and 15 minutes in Brønnøysund — was scheduled for 3:00p. By then, any hope for sunshine was gone.
The small coastal town greeted us with a stiff wind, thatLeia mais
SB Day 10: Brønnøysund Bound
17 de agosto, Noruega
Leaving Sandnessjøen, Mui went down to the cabin for a nap … I set myself up at ‘my table’ in the Havblikk Lounge, going outside whenever something caught my eye.
I was especially hoping toLeia mais
SB Day 10: Sandnessjøen
17 de agosto, Noruega
I skipped lunch today. Wasn’t hungry anyway.
But the real reason was to get a glimpse of Sandnessjøen when we made our short stop there right around 11:45a.
SB Day 10: Nesna
17 de agosto, Noruega
From Ørnes, m/s Havila Castor continued onto Nesna for its next 10-minute stop … just long enough for us to go on deck for a few photos.
SB Day 10: South of the Arctic Circle
17 de agosto, Noruega
At just about 9:00a this morning, we crossed back south of the Arctic Circle.
No, these are not the same photos from when we crossed north. I went out and took them myself!
SB Day 10: Ørnes Reflections
17 de agosto, Noruega
Our day started with a quick 20-minute stop in Bodø. At 2:30a, we both slept through it.
Next stop … Ørnes for 10 minutes at 6:25a found me still asleep. But Mui was up as usual, enjoying a cupLeia mais
SB Day 9: Svolvær … A-Wander
16 de agosto, Noruega
Leaving the Lofoten War Memorial Museum, we went for a stroll around town, heading in the direction of the church … even though we knew it was closed. We did find a few things of interest in theLeia mais
SB Day 9: Svolvær … Lofoten Krigsminnemuseum
16 de agosto, Noruega
Today’s long stop came late in the day.
Cruising for three hours after exiting Trollfjord, we were scheduled to arrive in Svolvær in the Lofoten Islands around 6:30p. Since we would be out andLeia mais
SB Day 9: Raftsundet Strait & Trollfjord
16 de agosto, Noruega
We were hoping for sunshine — or at least dry conditions — for the special Trollfjord detour that we knew was on today’s schedule … though the exact timing was not known until thisLeia mais
SB Day 9: Stokmarknes … Hurtigrutemuseet
16 de agosto, Noruega
Departing Sortland for our next port, we had rain on and off. A good time to watch the scenery go by from the comfort of a lounge … a cup of hot tea in hand.
The distance to Stokmarknes wasLeia mais
SB Day 9: Sortland
16 de agosto, Noruega
Around 12:30p, m/s Havila Castor arrived at its berth in Sortland … a 30-minute stop. One of the unique things about this stop is that the timing of the “Taste of Vesterålen” excursion bus isLeia mais
SB Day 9: Risøyhamn
16 de agosto, Noruega
The approach to the small village of Risøyhamn requires the ship to transit a long, narrow channel marked with buoys. The channel, which opened in 1992, makes it far easier for larger vessels, suchLeia mais
SB Day 9: Risøyhamn Bound
16 de agosto, Noruega
Leaving Harstad, we had about two hours to chill before our 15-minute stop in Risøyhamn.

SB Day 9: Harstad
16 de agosto, Noruega
Our first port this morning was Finnsness. It was at 4:20a. As you might expect, we were fast asleep during that 20-minute stop. As close as we are to both gangways, that we aren’t awakened by portLeia mais
SB Day 8: Blåisen Glacier … Maybe
15 de agosto, Noruega
The coordinates and the timing embedded in this photo make me think this might be Blåisen Glacier. Even the literal translation of the glacier’s name — Blue Ice — seems appropriate for what weLeia mais
SB Day 8: Øksfjord
15 de agosto, Noruega
The hoped-for-sunny stop in Øksfjord did not happen. The sun went into hiding as quickly as it showed itself.
C’est la vie! Or as the Norwegians might say … “sånn er livet” … such is life.
SB Day 8: Øksfjord Bound … Mountains & Clouds
15 de agosto, Noruega
With our late departure from Hammerfest, our scheduled arrival at the next port — Øksfjord for 15 minutes — was pushed back as well. More time to relax.
At one point, I noticed that the cloudsLeia mais
SB Day 8: Hammerfest

We had the most number of ports of any given day of our voyage today — starting with Mehamn, Kjøllefjord, and Honningsvåg … all in the wee hours of the morning. Slept through all of those. WeLeia mais
SB Day 7: Vardø … Vardøhus Festning

SB Day 7: Vardø … Steilneset Minnested
14 de agosto, Noruega
We had 55 minutes — make that 45 minutes with the 10-minute all aboard deadline — to see what Vardø offered … the town itself, a fortress, and a memorial site.
I wanted to see it all. But ofLeia mais

ViajanteThank you for sharing your trip and I'm glad you survived the disembarkation! 🙂
Two to TravelGlad to have had you along.
ViajanteSuch a lovely trip. I had no idea Norway was so lovely. Although my friend Kristin went there for a month Christmas time with her kids and raved about every single thing they experienced, so I wasn't really surprised. Nice to see it from the viewpoint of the coast. Great stories, Erin. Good luck on your next adventure
Two to TravelThank you … we wouldn’t mind returning to see the Northern Lights, but since we already saw them in Greenland, mostly new-to-us places will have to take priority.
