    Singapore

    June 28, 2016 in Singapore ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

Off I go! For my first (non-work) solo trip to favourite ever Japan! After weeks of intensive planning, I still managed to leave without printing my itinerary, buying the data SIM or knowing whether I should buy the Pasmo card. It's gonna be exciting for sure.

Got sort of persuaded to bid for my first ever scoot biz ticket also. With captain lam! For 90 bucks i get to check in my backpack *gasp*, sit alone (hopefully), get food and one alcohol and maybe wifi?

I need to watch GOT! Itunes is so so so unreliable. I managed to transfer all episodes of HACF and OITNB but not GOT. Unacceptable! And for that I dont dare to read any news or browse facebook.

    Customary Guinness for the road!

    Narita Airport Terminal 2

    June 28, 2016 in Japan ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

Finally touched down after gazillion hours of being in the air. Honestly, still didnt manage to sleep much despite the comfy seats and walk i took around taoyuan airport. If not cos I'm on a budget, i would have zero qualms about upgrading my seat. Its only 90 bucks more...feels much saner and they even fed me twice in 9 hours or so. Think its worth the risk of booking a basic ticket without any luggage and then trying to upgrade it.

Manage to get my simcard and pasmo without incident. Still would have been cheaper getting it from JTB but not worth the hassle. Same with Pasmo. Suspect kana was trying to tell me that pasmo has a deposit but oh well...i alrd paid for scootbiz..how much more can i save? #highmaintenancemuch?

Side note: sales girl at the phone shop was eugenes-sarahs doppelganger. Shoulda realised she was chinese sooner.

    Koto, Japan

    June 28, 2016 in Japan ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

To be fair, Kana gave pretty good directions but not nearly intuitive enough. For instance:

The keisei express train does not stop at every station on the line. Im blaming her but I know its because I was stoning. Still...i cant be the only one it has happened to.

At the ground floor of the apartment theres a lift but she says to take the stairs to the second floor. Its slightly confusing.

Of course I'm just unhappy about her being super unhelpful re studio ghibly and her unclear directions re pasmo. Seriously could she be more vague?
K: i do not recommend pasmo
W: why ah? Is it nore expensive?
K: yes because you have to pay 500 deposit first
    W: so....what do you recommend?
    <radio silence>

500 yen is like one cup of coffee so its not really that critical is it?
