    Start of the trip 🤩

    What a stressful day! I was working till 12 o’clock then we missed Sbahn and arrived to the airport only 1,5 hours before our flight to London. London Heathrow Airport was packed and beautifully decorated 🤩 Flo invited me for drinks and pizza so we killed the waiting time before boarding to our 2nd flight to New York. While boarding our boarding pass shown error and needed to go to counter to find out that we got free upgrade to Economy Ultra Plus 😎 we were not sitting together but we had double of space welcome drink and plenty of cocktails and delicious dinner! Feels kind of like honeymoon 😆 we landed after 8 hours long flight in New York and had to first wait 1,5 hour in immigrations and then exit and reenter the terminal 🙈 how stupid is the system 😂. Now we are waiting before our last flight to Cancun 🇲🇽Weiterlesen

    Cancun day 1

    After snow storm in New York and 2 hours delay we finally landed in Cancun. The immigration process was super fast (they even have scanners as in Europe) and we manage to jump to the next Ado bus departing to Cancun Downtown. Most of the tourists stay in Hotel Zone where all there large resorts are located. We wanted to stay in center and experience the true Mexico a bit. Jana and Lukas recommended us a nice hotel and cafe nearby. We didn’t do much for the rest of the day. Only 5 minutes walk from accommodation was a cool market ~ Mercado 28 with cute shops and streets. People were not even that pushy to sell us sth. For dinner we had amazing Tacos and beer in La Berrinchuda. We paid around 22€ for dinner together and the food was delicious 🤤 🌮Weiterlesen

    Cancun day 2

    22. Dezember 2024 in Mexiko ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

    Thanks to the jet lag we were already around 5:30 in the morning awake. We left the accommodation around 7 and walked to nearby cafe. It was still dark outside and we were the first customers. After breakfast we took the bus R2 all the way till Playa Delfines🐬 ~ very beautiful, wide and local beach with 0 bars. Very early in the morning beach was still empty and clouds were not promising any good weather. Luck was on our side and we were later on granted with amazing weather, sunshine and swim in Caribbean Sea 🌊.

    After many hours of chilling we took bus back. Instead of driving directly all the way to Cancun Downtown we stopped in the party area and checked out the local beach Playa Gaviota Azula which Flo liked better as there were not such a big waves as in Playa Delfines. Punta Cancún reminded us of Vegas ~ shows, clubs, beach clubs, alcohol and big crowds. It was interesting to see all the sides of Cancun but we are happy with our decision to stay in the center, which is more local.

    The 3rd bus ride back to city was never ending as there was a traffic jam. Bus ride costs here less then 0,5€ and you can drive as long as you need! On the other hand taxis are quite expensive. Back in the hotel we got ready for dinner and left direction Park de las Palapas ~ huge park full with people, life music and street food. We got amazing dinner for just 12€ and then walked through party street till the town hall. The square infront of the town hall had the craziest Christmas lights installed and there was even a huge Latino open air party 😍 Flo didn’t want to dance so I danced with some locals 🤣. We came back home quite early and were super happy and tired. Cancun downtown has a great vibe and friendly locals.    Weiterlesen

    Day trip to Isla Mujeres

    23. Dezember 2024 in Mexiko ⋅ 🌙 24 °C

    Isla Mujeres is a small island located only 20 minutes boat ride from Cancun. There are several ports departing to Isla Mujeres but Puerto Juárez nearby city center is the most frequent. Isla Mujeres has also plenty of hotels so you can go there for day trip up to couple of days. Boats from Puerto Juárez departs from early morning till midnight. We booked boat at 9am and returning 9pm.

    Most of the tourists rent Golf Buggy for a day to tour the island. Rental for 8hours is quite pricey ~ around 60€. We forgot our driving license in Cancun so they didn’t want to rent us the buggy. At the end there would a company which would do it but for extra money. The island is quite small and most of the interesting stops are in the south and north of island. The island is well connected with buses so we at the end decided to save some money and take the local bus to the southern part of island. Punta Sur is beautiful natural reserve with incredible cliffs and sculptures picturing Mayan culture.

    After the walk around Punta Sur we left to nearby beach club Garrafon. The area was super nice offering plenty of fun activities such as zip line, kayak, SUP, Snorkeling and chill by the pool. The entrance package also includes unlimited drinks and food so we decided to pay the high price and enjoy the day. Unfortunately although the place was dreamy the food and drinks quality was poor and for lot of things such as ice cream and coffee you needed to pay extra. We were at the end quite disappointed although the whole area was amazing.

    In the afternoon we left by bus back to the city and had a great coffee and fresh coconut. Isla Mujeres has not many beaches so most of the tourists go to amazing Playa Norte which is also famous for sunset 🌅. We finished our day with amazing swim snd cocktail in Tarzan Bar and were rewarded by incredible sunset.

    For dinner Flo invited me nice local restaurant where I had the best ceviche of my life 🤩🤤. Around 9pm we took ferry back to Cancun to pack our bags as we are leaving tmr to the next destination 😎.    Weiterlesen

    Holbox day 1

    24. Dezember 2024 in Mexiko ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

    In the morning we took a mini van to small town called Chiquila and then ferry to the Holbox island. We were surprised that on such a small island trucks ect are driving as we’re expecting only scooters and quad bikes and no another vehicles. Few days ago there was a big storm which flooded several streets and brought lot of dirt to the beaches 🥲. Our hotel Zomay is located directly on the beach and we are sleeping in the cute garden bungalow 😍.

    We didn’t do much just chilled at the hotel beach, drink several cocktails and enjoyed the sunset. Everything is quite expensive here and due to high number of American tourists they expect to get at least 15% tips on everything 🥲🥲.

    For dinner many restaurants offered overpriced Christmas dinner menu ~ cca 100€ per person which we were not ready to pay. At the end we found very cute place with tasty food and drinks to celebrate Christmas. They even played Christmas music and we were sitting in nice garden decorated with light bulbs 💡🤩.     Holbox day 2

    25. Dezember 2024 in Mexiko ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

    With the Christmas music and sound of sea we had delicious breakfast in our hotel. I tried for the first time in Mexico Chilaquiles ~ typical Mexican breakfast consisting of tortillas, red sauce, beans, cheese and egg. It was delicious 🤤.

    Isla Holbox is part natural protected area and home of many species of birds and fishes including whale sharks. Very popular activity on island is to walk via sea to the sandbank Punta Mosquito to far east. It’s advisable to start early as from 3pm the water level will be very high and passing might not be that easy. The way to punta Mosquito took us around 1 hour one way and the water level reached at max. our hips. It was incredible feeling to be surrounded by incredible nature and be walking along never ending paradise beach 🏝️.

    For the rest of the day we played cards, chilled at the beach, had some drinks, I ate giant ice cream 😆 and walked around the town. It’s nice to slow down sometimes and just enjoy the moment ❤️.    Weiterlesen

    Holbox day 3

    After breakfast we went to the center to exchange money and get a coffee. For the rest of the day we wanted to chill on the beach and relax. We found nice beach club and lied down. For consumption of 600 MXP almost 30€ per person you could stay whole day. It was a cloudy day but I hoped that as always the sun will show up and we have a great day. Unfortunately around 13 o’clock the heavy tropical storm started and it was pouring rain for next 3-4 hours. The rain was very strong and we were standing with all the other guests under the only roof this beach club had to offer 🙈.

    After an hour we were offered table and could at least eat and drink something. Around 4 we decided not to wait anymore and walk in the rain back to our bungalow. The rain was so strong that whole streets got completely flooded and even the entrance to our bungalow was blocked.

    To eat dinner in the evening was adventure itself. It was not raining anymore but many streets are blocked completely and we had to cross “river” many times 🤣🙈.

    Usually rain season is in July and August but in general Holbox is a place where cold wind from north Mexico meets the hot Caribbean air resulting in strong tropical storms 😂🥲.    Weiterlesen

    Punta Cocos & arrival to Valladolid

    Today we are leaving Holbox. Although we heard from many people that Holbox was the highlight of the trip but we do not understand the hype. Maybe we were just unlucky with weather and therefore the experience was not the best but in our opinion it’s overpriced and very touristy place. There are only hotels and expensive restaurants and every empty nice corner of the island had been turned to the construction site. There are no proper roads so big buggies are driving all day and night around making the island also very noisy. Due to the rain water was standing everywhere and the smell was quite bad. Lastly, the beach was not very clean… some parts or expensive beach clubs were cleaning the beach but in general it was not this paradise beach you can see on each instagram post.

    After our last breakfast we walked to far west of the island to Playa Punta de Cocos. The walk along the beach was pleasant and it took us around d 35 minutes one way. We saw many resorts and villas on the way as well as few unspoiled areas. Playa Punta de Cosos is place to go for sunset. As it was raining last night we decided to check it during the way. Unfortunately due to storm the water there was extremely dirty. Probably it’s nice but again we were unlucky.

    After our return to the hotel it was time to pack our backpack and enjoy last coffee before boarding the ferry back to mainland. In Chiquila we got very tasty empanadas for lunch and took the bus to our next destination ~ colonial town Valladolid.

    After our arrival I immediately felt in love with this town and we had the best mangoes. Our hotel is hidden from busy streets in nice courtyard and super friendly employees. We went to see bit of a city and had dinner. Prices here are almost half then in the island and the main square is full of stands selling street food and souvenirs. In the evening we picked up our rental car for tomorrow and drove back to our hotel. We are not sure about the driving rules so it’s gonna be an adventure 😆.    Weiterlesen

    Road trip around Valladolid

    28. Dezember 2024 in Mexiko ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

    We started the day early and left around 7:30 our hotel. Today we gonna explore the area with our rental car. First stop are famous Mayan Ruins Chichen Itza located approximately 45minutes drive from Valladolid. It’s recommended to arrive directly at 8am when they open or shortly before 4pm when they are closing the ticket office. The places is super crowded and there is a huge queue just to get to the parking lot. We parked in the last parking lot and walked the rest which was definitely faster.

    Ticket is also very expensive around 30€ per person. Although we were shocked how many people were there around 8:30 in the morning the whole area is huge and people spread well and we could enjoy the sight without many tourists and observing fascinating pyramid of Kukulkan. The pyramid has 91 steps from each side and together with upper platform it consists of 365 steps. The whole area is large and consists of many other buildings, sacred Cenote and star observatory. People usually spend there 2-3 hours.

    After the visit of Chichén Itzá we were shocked how packed the visitor center was and the whole bus parking lot was also full. To escape the crowds we left to less popular but equally beautiful small village of Izamal. Izamal is known as a pilgrimage place with the biggest monastery of South America. Once even the pope came all the way for a visit and as preparations for such an important visit all the houses were painted yellow (the color of Vatican). So now Izamal is know as yellow magical village located approximately 1 hour drive from Chichen Itza. The town is very small but very nice. We visited the monastery and had super delicious lunch in restaurant Kinich Izamal.

    Once back on the road we took highway all the way back to Valladolid. We were surprised how expensive the highway fee was approx. 12€ for 100 km 🙈. It was still early to return the car so we drove to Cenote Xkeken & Samula. The advantage is that you pay only one entrance fee and can swim in two cenotes. Cenote Xkeken was almost completely underground with huge cave formations. Cenote Samula was almost empty as we were there shortly before closing. In general visit of Cenote is highly recommended and we enjoyed it a lot! Last stop of our road trip was small village of Uayma with incredible church. After that we returned the car, had dinner and left back to our hotel.    Weiterlesen

    Valladolid & Cenotes Oxman

    Already in the morning we were welcomed with the heat 🥵. We walked to bit around the city market and bought some fruits. For 150 MXP / 7€ we took a taxi to Cenote San Lorenzo Oxmán to spend the day. Cenote Oxman was quite empty when we arrived so we left our stuff immediately in locker and went for swim. The entrance fee is 200 pesos for swimming or 400 including 300 pesos voucher for restaurant. We took the second option as we wanted to chill by the pool after Cenotes. Cenote was great and we had lot of fun swimming, jumping to the water and enjoying the surroundings. The water was super refreshing and nice cool down from the heat. We liked the Cenote so much that we went after lunch and pool again 🤩. The whole area was in nice shape and food and service was great 👍. In the afternoon we went for a walk around Valladolid for one last time. We walked to the monastery of San Bernardino de Siena and then via the nicest street of the town Calle de Los Frailes to the center. Sunset was amazing and I was looking forward to go to the famous rooftop bar. Unfortunately both rooftops were already full so we walked back to Calle de Los Frailes and ended up in incredible Italian restaurant (we needed a break from mexican food). The setting was amazing with nice music and candles. Food was as incredible as the location which is not always the case. The romantic dinner was amazing 🤩 bit tired we walked back to the monastery for sound and light show which is projected every evening at 9pm in Spanish and 9:20pm in English. The show explains the history of the city and maya empire. Back in the hotel we went straight to bed. What an incredible day ❤️ we love Valladolid!Weiterlesen

    Arrival to Bacalar

    There is not much to say about today. We spent 5 hours in the bus all the way to Bacalar. We meet up here with Czech friends David & Gabi and also Flo’s sister Marie and her boyfriend Luca. We went for a swim in the lake and ended up our day in city center for dinner.

    Bacalar is beautiful lagoon close to Guatemala / Belize border. The lake is the second biggest freshwater lake in whole Mexico. The lake has been created due to several underground rivers and 7 cenotes which created different shades of blue. The lagoon is sometimes called 7 colors lagoon.    Weiterlesen

    Perfect end of the year in Bacalar

    After breakfast we ordered taxi to go to Los Rapidos. There is a fix price of 200 MXP and you drive around 20 minutes outside of the town to this beach club. Los Rapidos is famous for its river where you can float from one end to another. Entrance to the park was also 200 pesos and you can spend whole day there. There is also an onsite restaurant with very good food and drinks. We arrived first with David & Gabi followed later by Flo’s aunt Uschi and her boyfriend Stephan. After that Marie and Luca arrived. We had lot of fun floating in the clearest waters from one end to another and enjoy the day 🤩🤩.

    Around 3 o’clock we returned back to Bacalar as we booked for 4 o’clock private boat cruise for the whole group with beers and snacks. The boat trip was amazing. We drove to different cenotes and see how colors changed every time to different shades of green and blue. Our highlight was the Pirate Channel where we watched amazing sunset before returning back to port.

    At 9pm we left to the city center and luckily found place to sit for dinner. The main square was full of people with several food trucks and big music stage. We stayed up till 1:30am and celebrated last day of the year with friends and family ❤️.    Weiterlesen

    Breakfast in Bacalar & arrival to Tulum

    We had such a relaxed day that I almost forgot to take pictures 😂 we had breakfast in center of Bacalar and then around 12:30 heavy rain started so our decision to leave Bacalar around midday was good! Bus ride to Tulum took us less then 3 hours and we had enough time in the afternoon/evening to walk around, have coffee, food, drinks ect. Tulum is crazy touristy compared to Valladolid and Bacalar and also super expensive. We were surprised when for 3 cocktails and 1 water they wanted around 40€… when we checked the bill correctly the price already included 20% tip… so we of course paid at the end 20% less as the service was super slow and not good to pay 20%… just be careful they rip off the poor tourists here 🥲.Weiterlesen

    Tulum day 2

    After breakfast we left with overpriced taxi to Tulum ruins. Hotel receptionist told us price is around 200 pesos for ruins and 400 pesos to Cenotes like Casa Tortuga. Taxi driver wanted originally 450 and I managed to bargain down to 300… the ruins visitor center is huge full of shops and restaurants. You need to buy 3 tickets and go in total to 2 lines 🙈 hey but 450 pesos less we were ready to board one of the golf carts and depart to entrance of archeological park. The park is not huge but due to the walk around the ruins, cliffs and fantastic views of Caribbean beaches we were impressed by the beauty of the place and incredible views. Compared to Chichen Itza the place was not so packed so we could walk around and enjoy. The archeological park ends where one of the best beaches are starting so you can easily walk or just jump on one of many golf carts and get out in some beach. We had a drink in nice beach bar and then returned back to visitor center.

    For the afternoon we wanted to drive to nearby cenotes for swim. Cenotes here are much more touristy and expensive then in Valladolid. Here entrance fees can go up to 1200 MXP whereas in Valladolid we paid max. 250 pesos. I found one less popular Cenote Yax-kin where we were almost alone for just 150 pesos. Unfortunately due to NYE restaurant was still closed and they didn’t have many sunbeds so we stayed for only about 2 hours. We opted for collective to go there and save some money. We paid only 35 pesos per person and it was also very easy to get a car for way back. Collectives departs from Seven Eleven by the ruins once they are full.

    In the late afternoon we experienced spontaneous culinary tour and ended up in two incredible places ~ Restaurant El Cayulo Tulum incredible seafood restaurant 🤩 and Ola Taco! with incredible seafood and beef/chicken tacos. Definitely one of the best tacos we tried so far 😋😋.

    We closed the day with little shopping tour and street food street where I got me a tasty pancake 🥞.    Weiterlesen

    Tulum day 3

    3. Januar in Mexiko ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

    We spent our day cycling along the whole Hotel Zone. For around 11€ we rented the bike and cycled around 18km go and back with shitty bike 😆. Most of the beach clubs were either booked out or the minimum fee was between 50-100$ 🥲. Tulum is very expensive and crowded. At the end we went to amazing restaurant La Zebra where we at least got a table on the terrace to sit and enjoy the day. It was super windy today and the waves were also strong. I was quite hesitant at the beginning if I should even go to the water. After lunch I tried and water was amazing 🤩. It was quite challenging to swim and jump in the waves so definitely not recommended for poor swimmers.

    The way back to Tulum city was adventurous as there were many traffic jams. Flo returned with destroyed swimsuits and bruises 🤣. So we will definitely not cycle tmr 🤣.

    For dinner we meet up with Marie, Luca, Uschi & Stephan as all of them made already the way to Tulum and we went for dinner to Palma Central ~ really cool food truck park. There were around 15 different food trucks selling everything from Mexican to Italian, Thai and Argentinian food.    Weiterlesen

    Tulum day 4

    4. Januar in Mexiko ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

    In the morning we took Collectivo (local mini bus) to the south entrance of Parque del Jaguaro. From the entrance we had to walk around 30 minutes till the paradise beach (Playa Paraiso). We were unpleasantly surprised that we had to pay entrance although we didn’t want to enter the archeological park. Beach is the part of the protected area and therefore the entrance fee of 120 pesos per person is always required! The beach club we wanted to visit didn’t have any free beds and we ended up in nearby camping place with great food, drinks and happy hour all day long. It was a nice chilled day by the beach with lot of wind. In the evening we went to nearby Burrito place for dinner. Tmr is time to pack our bags again and hit the road! Chilled time is over 🤣.Weiterlesen

    Arrival to Oaxaca

    5. Januar in Mexiko ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

    We said goodbye to our jungle hotel in Tulum and took a direct bus to Cancun Airport. After 2 hours bus we arrived and after some waiting time and tasty lunch we took a flight to Oaxaca. Oaxaca is a smaller city with around 260 thousands of people and is well known as food capital of Mexico.

    After dropping our bags we immediately left to the city. We stopped in amazing rooftop bar / cafe AMA with nice drinks and views of the town and nearby mountains. In the evening we wanted to try some nicer local food and walked to the restaurant Zandunga Sabor Istmeño ~ restaurant which is already in Michelin Guide Book and waiting for its first star. Service, drinks and food were excellent and we liked the big sharing plate with different starters as long as the main courses we ordered. The restaurant was also surprisingly not that expensive, we paid around 85€ for 4 people for everything including tip. Oaxaca is very lovely and lively city with music everywhere, cozy shops and nice architecture.    Weiterlesen

    Oaxaca day 2

    6. Januar in Mexiko ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

    Oaxaca is well known for its gastronomy and markets. There are in total 6 big markets which are the main tourist attraction in the city. From the main square Zócalo city can be divided into north and south part. We went first to the south part where 3 markets can be found: Mercado 20 de Noviembre (food paradise), Mercado de Artesanías (handmade products) and Mercado Benito Juárez (food + shops).

    All markets were really nice and had lot of fun exploring the area. We tried typical drink Tejate made of corn and cacao juice, nice smoothies and traditional bbq lunch in Pasillo de Humo (steamy path). It was truly authentic and local experience and all the things including bbq lunch were really delicious and cheap.

    After lunch and well required long walk we ended up in Jalatlaco area known for street art and celebration of Dia de Los Muertes. Streets are super beautiful, colorful with the most beautiful paintings 🤩 I felt like in the middle of the Disney Movie Coco 😍. In the evening we went for tasty dinner and drinks.

    Oaxaca is truly amazing place and should not be missed in any itinerary.    Weiterlesen

    Road trip around Oaxaca

    7. Januar in Mexiko ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

    Instead of organized day tour we opted for car rental. Our hotel is cooperating with car rental company and they even bring the car to the hotel. For only 1200 pesos (55€) we rented automatic car including insurance and hit around 9:00 the road.

    Our first stop were the petrified waterfalls of Hierve el Agua. Waterfalls are located only about 70 km from Oaxaca but the way takes almost 2 hours 😅. There are two road ~ longer mountain road with incredible views or shorter toll road where you drive through the canyon. I would recommend to drive both ways. After paying the entrance fee we took around bags and walk the trail around the waterfall to different viewpoints. There is also path down to see the waterfall from below. The views were incredible and we enjoyed a lot! After the walk it was a time to go for a swim. There are several pools and the water was refreshing. There were not many tourists which was also a big plus!

    Next to the exit there was a cute kiosk serving tasty food and fresh fruits and we had tasty lunch and mangos for only 285 pesos (13€). Our next stop was cute village of Mitla famous for market and small archeological site. We didn’t have time to explore the archeological site but the market was nice and we tried Nieves special local sorbet / ice cream 🍦.

    Our last stop was Mezcaleria Gracias a Dios Mezcal. Local family run business specializing in mezcal production but also producing gin, rum, whisky, limoncello… we saw all the production, agave plants and were able to taste all different bottles.

    Mezcal is not my favorite alcohol but it was interesting to see the plants and production. Agave plants is very specific to Oaxaca’s region and there are around 200 plants in total and out of them 30 types are used for mezcal production.    Weiterlesen

    Arrival to Cholula

    After 5 hours bus ride and 30 minutes taxi ride we arrived to Cholula ~ hometown of Ana. We will stay here till Sunday as on Saturday Ana & Max are celebrating here their second wedding! For dinner we went to Casa de Frida with Ana‘s family and we tried traditional bread (Roscon de Reyes) for Three Kings Day. Figures of baby Jesus are hidden in bread and whoever cut the piece with it has to invite all for breakfast on February 2nd. Flo and I were lucky and we just got to eat the bread!Weiterlesen

    Cholula day 2

    We started the day with the family breakfast in botanical garden of Cholula. The food and drinks are very cheap here ~ for breakfast menu including juice, coffee and breakfast of your choice you pay less then 10€.

    After breakfast we drove to outskirts of Puebla to rent suit for Flo. It was a very sunny day so we were happy to chill by the hotel pool and swim a bit before the rest of the family arrived. In the afternoon we went up to the church Santuario de la Virgen de los Remedios which is located on top of Cholula built on the largest Mayan pyramid with the amazing views of the city and nearby volcanoes.

    In the evening we went for dinner to the local brewery before going to the pre wedding party of Max & Ana.    Weiterlesen

    Day trip to Puebla old town

    After breakfast with family we ordered 2 Ubers and left to the city center of Puebla. Puebla is the forth biggest city of Mexico and the outskirts is of city are not very nice. City center is on the other hand very nice and reminded me immediately of streets of Barcelona & Madrid combined. The main square Zócalo with Townhall and Cathedral is must visit. We wandered a bit around before we split with family and all made their own plan.

    It’s worth to visit Puebla and especially to go Artist Quarter, Frog Street, marketplace and street of Sweets. Local specialty is Tacos Arabes which we tried in local shop and had delicious lunch for only 150 pesos.

    For dinner we went all together to the local brewery for dinner and ended the night with the party in front of our hotel room with the bottle of mezcal 😆 and dance lesson!    Weiterlesen

    Max & Ana’s wedding

    The big day is here and also main reason why 10 relatives of Max traveled all the way to Mexico 🇲🇽.

    The wedding was starting at 4 pm so we had plenty of time to have breakfast, get ready and chill. Katrin organized for all of us a appointment at the local hairdresser and we all made our hairs and Katrin and me also make up. The whole treatment cost me less then 30€ 🤣 and I really liked the final result although the hair looked totally different from picture and make up was only fine because I told her 200 times not too much make up 🤣!

    We drove by uber to the location Quinta Tlapanco to celebrate second wedding of Max & Ana. The wedding ceremony was held by a gay couple ~ friends of Ana & Max from Cologne and during the ceremony siblings of both sides held the speech. Luca and I were responsible for the Spanish translation 🤣! After the ceremony welcome drinks, snacks, ice cream and mariachis made a fine start of an incredible night 🥰!

    Later on we were seated at the tables and nice 3 course dinner was served accompanied by the speech of Max‘s best man.

    The whole night we drunk a lot and had a hell of the fun 🤩! What surprised me was that the party ended already at 1 o’clock as the locations would have to pay a very high fine if the party would last longer.    Weiterlesen

    Arrival to Mexico City

    Our trip is coming to the end and it’s time to take the last bus and make the last check in our last hotel. The final stop is the Mexico City from where we also fly back home!

    We woke up in Cholula bit tired and hangovered (only Flo 😆) and had a chilled morning. We had to check out at 12 o’clock from our hotel and return Flo’s suite in Puebla. Unfortunately we won’t be able to attend the small family gathering in Ana‘s home because the party is starting at 3:30pm. But after some intense days and tiredness we felt not like partying anymore 🤣.

    Mexico City is a huuuuuge overcrowded city. After the check in we left for a small walk to the Monumento a La Revolucion and we crossed one of the important streets of Mexico City with lot of skyscrapers
    🏙️.

    For dinner we called for the first time room service 🤣 and had super chilled evening!Unfortunately I didn’t feel well, I guess I coughed a cold at the wedding or in our accommodation and now I feel sick (sore throat, fever and headache).    Weiterlesen

    Teotihuacán & Mexico City at night

    Although we already visited two archeological sites here in Mexico we were eager to visit the well known Archeological zone of Teotihuacán! The site is located about 1 hour from Mexico City and can be easily done as a half a day trip (if you start early). There are plenty of tour but the cheapest way is to take the public bus departing from bus terminal north every 20 minutes. Ticket costs 68 pesos (3€) one way and the bus stops in front of gate 2 & gate 3.

    After exiting in Gate 2 we payed the entrance of 100 pesos (super cheap compared to Chichen Itza 680) and walked towards Pyramid of Sun ☀️. Teotihuacan was built between 250-600 and is one of the oldest archeological sites in Mexico. It was actually a large town where up to 200 thousands people lived. Pyramid of the Sun is the third biggest pyramid in the world after the Cheops Pyramid in Egypt and Pyramid in Cholula where the famous yellow church is located on the top!

    In the past it was possible to climb the famous pyramids but after Covid it was band in order to protect the monuments. The pyramid of the Sun and Pyramid of the moon are connected via Street of Death ~ in the past scientists thought that the buildings along the road were burial sites but nowadays we know that the buildings were ancient houses! What I loved about Teotihuacan was that it’s not as commercialized as the previous sites we visited in Yucatán and as the area is large people spread quite well! ☺️

    After the arrival back to Mexico City I felt unfortunately not good again and had to skip lunch and afternoon sightseeing and sleep a bit. Flo went for a walk with David and Gabi and I joined them later for night bus ride through the most iconic streets of Mexico City! We said goodbye to each other in local pub and went to bed.
