El Chaltén - day 4
February 5, 2023 in ArgentinaToday it’s unfortunately our last day in El Chaltén already. Most of the tourists come here to do two famous hikes - Laguna de los Tres which we did on our first day and Laguna Torre. Still quite tired but motivated we departed towards Laguna Torre. We had plenty of time as our bus was departing at 18:00 back to El Calafate where we landed few days before. Hike to Laguna Torre is marked as moderate hike and path is pretty easy, nevertheless you need to hike another 20+ km to get to the lake right below the famous mountain Cerro Torre. The path is really not difficult and without the exhaustion of the last days it would be a piece of cake 😁. First part of the hike has lot of ups and downs but then it’s very relaxing walk till the lake. By the lake it was super windy and cold and unfortunately Cerro Torre was covered in clouds. We decided to continue walking back and eat our lunch somewhere else. The whole hike took us 6,5 hours in total with breaks (we even walked quite slow as we were not in a rush). Back in the hotel we found out that Flo’s blister got double of size and that’s why he had some troubles walking… we grabbed our backpacks, mine for some reason heavier then ever before 🤣 and left to the bus station. With some time left we stopped in local cafe and got some nice cake and coffee plus super tasty sandwiches for the bus ride. I was quite looking forward to the bus ride, just to sit and observe this beautiful landscapes but l definitely didn’t expect bus in very poor conditions with gear issues and weird smell. We were really worried that we will get stuck in the middle of nowhere and waiting for rescue bus to come to pick us up 😅😅😅😅 luckily all worked well and we arrived safely to El Calafate. We ended up our evening with some drinks in hostel lobby and playing Uno 😁Read more
