    Narrandera

    April 18 in Australia

Gorgeous morning in Mildura. Quick breakfast, pack up and we were off. Stopped at the Murray to take a couple of photos and check out the massive house boats. Not a bad way to retire?
Had an easy drive along the Sturt Highway with a quick stop in Euston arriving mid afternoon in Narrandera. We've driven through this tow dozens of times. It's a regular stop on our Melbourne - Brisbane trips. But we've never checked it out properly. Stunning place.Read more

    Regen, Koalas und Outback

    October 26, 2017 in Australia

🍻 Cheers!

    Narrandera

    July 5, 2016 in Australia

Popped in here for brekkie. Not much happening here, but a cute little town. The information centre lady was really friendly and helpful. As an added bonus, the info centre has a "big thing" - what was formerly the "World's Biggest Playable Guitar". Some guys in the US made a bigger one, so they can't claim the record now, but it's still pretty cool. :)

Great coffee and toastie at Cafe Shazaray. Delish.Read more

    We Still Have Our Honey

    April 30, 2017 in Australia

We felt like we were really starting our journey today, not just on a weekend trip to the footy, although our heads told us we HAD had a big day at the football.
Our first long day in 'Strider' with 'Arwen' following close behind as we headed out of the city and onto the highway on our way to Cairns in just 2 weeks. We are heading straight for Cape York, Australia's most northern point, and spending as much time as we can travelling west along the north coast before the rainy season begins again in about September. Meeting fellow Taswegians, Henk and Mary, in Cairns to explore Cape York together, an adventure we cant wait to share.
First border crossing today, into NSW - just a sign at the Murray River. Still have our honey...
Boys tried their luck at catching Murray Cod. We are still wondering if the local who told them to use cheese for bait is still laughing.
Success setting up camp at a WikiCamps sourced site, Old Brewery Flats, on the Murrumbidgee River at Narrandera. Much excitement when Erin spotted out first koala in the tree next to our camper.
Also observed was what we think may have been a Squirrel Glider, and a number of nesting boxes on the gums around us. The kids have sent an email to the local Landcare group for some more information.
We have brought a freezer full of lamb with us, so lamb curry it was for dinner tonight. Goes well with the honey sandwiches we are having in case we have to give up our honey!
It is taking us some time to recover from the manic packing and preparation and finishing up of work that has happened in the last few weeks, but we are travelling well so far and everyone appears to be coping very well, despite a bit grumpiness!
