We stopped at Lions Park to use the facilities and drop off Zumi at the Boat Ramp across the river, then drove up 6.5 miles to Big Bend Day Use area where we had breakfast and set up the kayak. There were a few class I rapids and amazing scenery the whole 2.5 hours down. Then ResoNate drive Zumi back to get the bus and drive back down to pick up Sunshine and the boat. We were all packed up by 3:30 pm.Читать далее

  • Skooliepalooza Moab

    5–10 окт. 2023, Соединенные Штаты ⋅ ☀️ 70 °F

After filling up with gas, groceries, and water, we headed North of Moab to meet up with new friends at Skooliepalooza Moab. It is much smaller than the one we attended near Ehrenberg, AZ but expect more are coming in this weekend. Total 43 miles for Bliss Bus, 6.5 kayak miles, $170.83 for gas and food.

We stayed until Tuesday am, facilitating yoga and somatic sharing, creating food, forging friendships, and making memories. Thank you to Delmara from Joyous Moments Photography and Ramona the Airstream for capturing so many of the moments, including the captivating night sky and Amelia Doll for the beautiful concert!

  • Canyonlands NP Island in the Sky

    10 октября 2023 г., Соединенные Штаты ⋅ ☀️ 79 °F

After facilitating yoga, breakfast, sending many down the road with blissings until we meet again, and cleaning up camp we went to Canyonlands National Park, Islands in the Sky district. First stop was the visitors center and then we had lunch at White Rim Overlook. Thank you to Dyla for the fresh salad sprouts, we had delicious sandwiches with avocados, tomatoes, cheeze, homemade garlic dill pickles and almond basil "mayo". Duncan differently kept the ravens away.

We had a beautiful 2 mile hike at Grand View and ResoNate resumed handstands in beautiful places.

  • Sunrise @ Mesa Arch Canyonlands NP

    11 октября 2023 г., Соединенные Штаты ⋅ 🌙 55 °F

Early to bed, early to rise... when ResoNate woke up at 6:30, we decided to watch sunrise from Mesa Arch. Unfortunately so did everyone else. We had the last space in the parking area and the arch was packed with people under and around it. After a few moments there realizing we weren't going to see the sun rise through the hoards, we walked to the left and found an amazing view looking back on the arch. We didn't realize that the sun reflecting on Aztec Butte was going to be the brightest we saw all day. 0.7 mile hike.Читать далее

  • Syncline Loop @ Canyonlands NP

    11 октября 2023 г., Соединенные Штаты ⋅ ☁️ 55 °F

We enjoyed breakfast at the Upheaval Dome parking area and started clockwise on the Syncline Loop at 9 am. They NPS really didn't want us to go down the 8.3 miles but it was absolutely amazing even with the 1500' elevation change. Beautiful canyons, even found a water seep and large chunks of petrified wood left for other visitors to enjoy. It started sprinkling on our way up. After enjoying pasta leftovers it was raining on the way out. So glad we didn't leave items at last campsite down clay road!Читать далее

  • Re-supply and laundry day

    12 октября 2023 г., Соединенные Штаты ⋅ ☀️ 55 °F

After quiet night, we enjoyed leisurely morning and ResoNate received haircut in anticipation of shower. We stopped and picked up produce at Dunham Melons, drive by the "largest watermelon" (wooden slice) did the laundry at only place in town (it was inexpensive too) and picked up groceries, before filing up with gas @ Love's on edge of town. Unfortunately it was over an hour wait for showers and we had a long drive so some baths again for us at camp.Читать далее

  • Fishlake National Forest

    12–15 окт. 2023, Соединенные Штаты ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

We had a beautiful drive to and through Capitol Reef. The first site looked a little too busy for us but we didn't like the second one and we're glad we returned as found a great site with view of Capital Reef and to West and found great trails. Our neighbor, George Frey, is a professional photographer and chose this site specifically for the eclipse. We had room to set up the pyramid and on Saturday night had fire in back cove that was vacated. Total 107 miles and $132.63 for fuel, groceries, and laundry.Читать далее

  • Capital Reef Hike

    13 октября 2023 г., Соединенные Штаты ⋅ ☀️ 39 °F

We got up and went into Capital Reef for a long day. Breakfast at the Fruita picnic area with mule deer. Then we dropped Zumi off at Cohab trail and drive down to Grand Wash. We hiked to to Cassidy Arch (Butch Cassidy likely hid out in the area) and into Frying Pan Ridge before going down Cohab Canyon and back to Zumi. It was absolutely beautiful. Sunshine picked some apples while ResoNate drove Zumi back and picked up Bliss Bus. Then back to the campsite for all of us after stop at Panorama point. Total 23 miles for Bliss Bus, about 5 for Zumi, and 6 for us.Читать далее

  • Annular Solar Eclipse

    14 октября 2023 г., Соединенные Штаты ⋅ ☀️ 41 °F

There was a lot of excitement around the solar eclipse and we had great company. Our neighbor even sent our pre-eclipse pyramid meditations to Getty images, so we may be gracing mainstream media in the future. There were a few clouds but we could still see the ring of fire. Our pictures barely captured it, but there's a sun flare in the lower left of the 8th picture of the landscape at the peak annularity. While it didn't get very dark, the temperature definitely dropped. We then wandered the area hiking up and down the washes with Duncan before dinner and fire.Читать далее

  • Travel day

    15–16 окт. 2023, Соединенные Штаты ⋅ ☀️ 66 °F

We went into Torrey to fill up water and use the WiFi and visitors center. We have not been able to find propane or kerosene canisters there or in Boulder, but Sunshine used the same bathroom as Scarlett Johansson. Our neighbor George highly recommended lower calf creek falls so we camped nearby although ReoNate was disappointed not to camp in the aspen and pine forest at higher elevation, but it is still expected to be a chilly night and fire was started before sunset. Total 47 miles.Читать далее

  • Lower Calf Creek Falls

    16 октября 2023 г., Соединенные Штаты ⋅ ☀️ 48 °F

We wanted to get to the trailhead early but didn't factor in the canyon walls blocking the morning sun, so warm oatmeal cooked with apples, bananas, and golden raisins with peanut butter blended in at the end and topped with hazelnut chocolate granola. Yum! We were on the trail by 9:40 am, in between the first and second waves of people. It was absolutely stunning with autumn colored plants, prickly pear fruits, and multicolored cliffs and then there's a 126' waterfall with swimming hole at the end of the 3 miles. It was too cold to get in today but warm enough to enjoy the mist of the falls on the beach. Duncan even became a cowboy since we didn't let him in the water due to potential cyanobacterial contamination.Читать далее

  • Tropic Camp

    16–19 окт. 2023, Соединенные Штаты ⋅ ☀️ 72 °F

We had a beautiful drive with more viewpoints. We found propane and kerosene at the home store in Escalante and picked up groceries and plant-based fudge bars. Then we found a lovely camp above Tropic (named for the warmer temperature than surrounding areas) in Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument overlooking Bryce Canyon. While we only planned to stay for the night, we stayed for 3 as had great views with abundance of firewood and discovered could take Zumi to back trail of Bryce (only one other couple in 3 miles and relatively flat) and into town. Also made a new friend when Kizzy and Roxy dog camped next to us. They joined us for an evening fire and morning yoga. Kizzy left us with a lovely gift of plums she dried. Next to our site someone had thrown a pile of tomato plants full of green tomatoes. We salvaged what we could and enjoyed a delicious meal of fried green tomatoes. The following evening we roasted some green tomatoes on the fire to top our mountain pie quesadillas. Delicious meals with amazing views!
Total 63 miles for Bliss, 21 for Zumi, and
6 miles for us, $22.67 for groceries and $28 for camp fuels. Pics show walk from camp next day and ResoNate spinning that night.

    19 октября 2023 г., Соединенные Штаты ⋅ ☀️ 45 °F

We packed up and drove to Bryce Canyon City and took the shuttle into the park to Bryce Point and walked the rim to Navajo loop and walked down Two Bridges side through the Queen's garden and back up to sunrise point. A beautiful 5 mile hike with only 749' elevation change. We took the shuttle to the visitor's center to pick up our "I hiked the hoodoos" sticker before heading back to the bus.Читать далее

  • Dixie NF Arches camp

    19–20 окт. 2023, Соединенные Штаты ⋅ ☀️ 70 °F

We drove a few miles to camp and found the area was closed for prescribed burn but found a lovely spot in Lossee Canyon in Dixie National Forest and after dinner hiked with Duncan up Arches trail for sunset for another mile. Total 6 miles for us and 32 for Bliss Bus. The next day ResoNate found small window rocks and we collected agate from hill on way to Panguitch.Читать далее

  • "Oregon in Utah" Camp

    20–22 окт. 2023, Соединенные Штаты ⋅ ☀️ 68 °F

After filling up with gas and more groceries in Panguitch, we found a lovely wooded campsite near the lake. We were able to set up the slack line and hammock and take Zumi ride around the lake and up the mountain where we slid out after hitting a rock coming down. Aside from a few scrapes, being site and having to dig a pile of rocks out of Zumi, we are fine. We also confused a lot of hunters riding by with the slack line. Total 26 miles and $133.33 for fuel for us and vehicles.Читать далее

  • Cedar Breaks NM

    22 октября 2023 г., Соединенные Штаты ⋅ ☀️ 52 °F

After slowly packing up and giving Duncan a commercial bath, we drove up to Cedar Breaks. We started outside the moment in Dixie NF so Duncan could hike with us to a couple of overlooks. • Cedar City, UT

    22–24 окт. 2023, Соединенные Штаты ⋅ ☀️ 72 °F

We went into Cedar City as the forest camping at lower elevation was not too appealing. We found Centro Woodford Pizza has vegan cheese so we checked it out and walked the downtown area. We filled up on groceries and the next morning went to the amazing artistic center for swim, hot tub and showers for only $5/each. We ate leftover pizza for lunch and did our laundry and checked up in the world at the library. As we spent extra time in town, we decided to go back to the aquatic center for open swim and the waterslide. Another shower and dinner at Sweet Basil before back to our Walmart overnight. Total 61 miles and $235.61.Читать далее

  • Kolob Canyon, Zion NP

    24 октября 2023 г., Соединенные Штаты ⋅ ☀️ 52 °F

After filling up water at Sinclair along the way, we stopped at Kolob Canyon fire breakfast. The road was closed just past the tiny picnic area. We then drove back down and hiked the Taylor Creek trail to the "double arch" alcove through beautiful autumn leaves. It was a total of 112 steam crossings in just over 5 miles.Читать далее
