Viajante Even at one of the places I would consider safe in terms of water reserve the villages tanks were almost dry by the end of the summer. Unused to there ever being a problem with water availability people were still filling their mini pools for the season in their backyards. This had me reflecting on water scarcity as well. Coming from the Sonoran desert to the shores of Cape Breton I was thinking of water abundance. There are springs and rivers galore. But the scarcity is showing up and had I not been staying with locals from there I wouldn't have know about it.

Viajante When I showed the topo map to my darling, she said that if we were walking, she would ask to be roped up! That is steep, indeed!
Viajante Wise Elaine, it sure looks steep. When in Nepal last October the guide in front of me would take my poles so that I could use my hands on the very steep sections with loose boulders (poles get stuck in between) and when needed would grab my hand. I was grateful for that! As if the high altitude was not enough😂
