    Paris day 2

    September 7 in France ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

Okay - set off after breakfast and stopped at the same place as yesterday for coffee and hot chocolate - got the same coffee as yesterday for Anne (I had no real idea but the guy behind the bar remembered my very bad attempt at French from yesterday and remembered the order!!!). No walking today, got metro tickets and headed to the Louvre (this place is so big you could be here for a week and not see it all). A stroll along the Avenue des Champs-Élysées to the L’arc De Triomphe - Lamborghinis and Ferraris everywhere- reminds we pick up the Dacia Duster on Monday (not quite a Lambo😛). Ice cream then back on the metro home. Didn’t walk as far as yesterday, but still nearly 13km (mostly around the Louvre - Anne said we have to cut down on the 🚶‍♀️, but then we would have to cut down on the pastries ☹️). As I write this it’s 8.15pm and still very much daylight - have a look at last pic.

Mary the Sphinx pic is for you - Anne thought you would like it 😁.

    1st Day in Paris

    September 6 in France ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Woke up after not a lot of sleep - but the view out of our window was pretty Kewl and we are in Paris!!! Breakfast then we head into the (sort of) city centre. Do we get our selves organised on the metro or do we walk. Set-off on foot after stopping at a near-by cafe/bar/bistro for a coffee and a hot chocolate. Anne said it was the best coffee she’s ever had (last one she’ll get - I have no idea what I ordered). We walked, and walked and then walked a bit further (let’s just say it was further than Anne expected). Had lunch (the French do a good baguette 🥖) went to a couple of gardens then headed back. In all we walked over 20kms - let’s just say tomorrow it’s the metro 😁).Read more

    Singapore to Paris

    September 5 in France ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Up early for the flight to Paris. Left at 9.40 am local time and got into Paris at 8 pm after a 2 hour stop in Dubai. We were a bit late getting away - there must have been 8-9 planes lined up on the runway waiting to take-off.I’ It actually was a pretty comfortable flight but super tired by the time we got to our (small) studio apartment for a 4 night stay. Anne made me find a mini-supermarket to buy food!!!Read more

    Day 13. Disneyland Paris

    July 7 in France ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

Train to Disneyland Paris. AMAZING place. Massive venue, 2 parks, sensational fun. Got there at open (10am) & wanted to stay for closing light show (11 pm) - couldn’t last! Left at 7.
Hope u enjoy the video of their brand new show - lion king. That & Pirates of Caribbean my fav attractions.
Their Street parade an absolute mind blower - check out the dragon from sleeping beauty video

Wanted to visit arc de triumph at night - got half way before asking taxi to turn back - Algeria soccer supporters celebrating their win in cup of nations had converged on arc - police everywhere - too dangerous for naive me.

    Paris again!

    June 21, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Today after shopping for breakfast foods, we went to the metro(Bastille) to go to either The James Bond 007 exhibition or the Musee d'Orsay..We arrived at Tuilleries metro and saw a huge line of prospective visitors and while it was 10:30, decided to cue and go in to the Museum D' Orsay. After about 45 mins we got in , security checked , ticketed and checked one bag. Well this museum is great! We were there for about 4 hours, including a short break to eat in the cafe. 5 levels. We saw Monet's girl with parasol, Van Gogh's night sky , some wonderful Manet works, Gaugan, Rooudain sculptures .And more! Classic impressionist masters Degas,Cezanne & Van Gogh, the Pointillists ( Seurat, Signac); and Bohemian artists likeToulouse Lautrec.
Some great views from the windows of the museum. The museum was once a train station. It i
We then caught the metro back to Bastille and changed lines to 5.We travelled on line 5 to Patin so that e could see the James Bond 007 exhibition at the Grand Hall of the Villiers building of La Villette.
James Bond 007 was fantastic. I enjoyed every bit of it and bought the commemorative 50 years of 007 book, which has so many of the photos I took.
Exited and went to the La Petite Halle de la Villette bar / restaurant for " happy hour" 5€ Belgian beers and dinner, charcuterie and salmon pizza. All yummy! Caught metro back, while waiting there was an argument occurring behind the other platforms then arriving back yo drumming and loud music and fast food. We may not sleep till late!

    Week #1

    August 5, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

First week (and two home exchanges) of our roadtrip is already behind us! 4 more weeks (and 5 more home exchanges) to go! Wow, so many things and places already behind us. And much more to come! We're so excited every time we see a new place and meet new people. So far, France didn't dissapoint us (and it's even more beautiful as in the pictures). We love the monuments, city vibes and historical buildings, but most of all, we love exploring the nature through the back roads. We're so glad we had a chance to take this trip. Experiences are priceless for sure!Read more

    Last day of Paris

    August 5, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

We took it extra slow today. We didn't want to rush anything so we went on a good relaxing walk in the park with Thor, then we went to the city centre on a french dinner in a cosy little restaurant. We had onion soup for starters, followed by three cheese fondue, fois gras, french baquettes and ofcourse some wine rouge. And for dessert two flavours sorbet.🍧🍷👌 We had creme brulee earlier in the afternoon while stopping for a coffee, tho. And, we bought some macaroons to go 😊☕🍮 After that we went on a short walk by the river (it was really sunny!) and now our thoughts are already in Normandy 😆Read more
