The Café de Flore is one of the oldest coffeehouses in Paris, celebrated for its famous clientele, which in the past included high-profile writers and philosophers. It is located at the corner of Boulevard Saint-Germain and Rue Saint-Benoît, in Saint-Germain-des-Prés in the 6th arrondissement. The nearest underground station is Saint-Germain-des-Prés, served by line 4 of Paris Métro.
It was very busy at the time I arrived and I had to wait almost 30 minutes only to get in. It's a very pricy spot - rather for a coffee or hot chocolate or drink but not for a dinner. I really enjoyed the experience and would come back.Read more

Il pleuvait - Teil 2

Am Nachmittag ging es dann nochmal in die Kirche Saint Sulpice zu einem kleinen Konzert mit Chor und Orgel. Danach sind wir zum Centre Pompidou spaziert. Wir haben uns das Kulturzentrum allerdings nur von außen angesehen. Gefühlt hat es immer dann geregnet oder genieselt, wenn wir gerade draußen waren. Gut, dass wir unsere Regenschirme stets griffbereit hatten.

Abends waren wir dann noch lecker Essen bevor wir wieder zurück ins Hotel sind für eine heiße Dusche.

Heute morgen haben wir uns zum Frühstück mit Gregory im Cafe de Flores getroffen! Bei Croissant und Cafe Creme haben wir uns auf ein Stündchen gesehen. Danach sind wir zurück zum Auto geschleudert, am Jardin Luxembourg vorbei durch das Quartier Latin.
Wir sind relativ zeitig nach Orleans gefahren und konnten so den ganzen sonnigen und sehr heißen Nachmittag zum Sightseeing verwenden.Read more

Paris is an incredibly busy city, with heaps to see and do. The drivers here are absolutely insane, we were so glad Joshua was behind the wheel! We were up early today to make the best of our only full day in Paris and we had a very busy, yet very successful day. We beat the line-up for the Catacombs, before travelling to the top of the Montparnasse Tower to check out the views across Paris and also visited Les Invalides, the resting place of Napoleon Bonaparte.Read more

We have arrived. When we walked into the hotel to check in we were greeted by name. What an interesting room key we have. You leave the key at the front desk when you leave so they know who's in and out (the key is also huge to carry) upon returning they remember which room is yours and automatically hand you the key. The breakfasts are great (fresh squeezed orange juice).Read more

Church of Saint-Sulpice, Paris

After endless wandering we finally found what was meant to be our first stop for the day - Church of Saint-Sulpice. This is the second largest church in Paris and was built in 1646. While it has the amazing size, it was obvious that it is not the wealthiest church in Paris and was in fact in need of maintenance, cleaning and repair, which was sad to see.

It is known for the Great Organ which was reconstructed in 1862, and the unique holy water fonts which were made from the two halves of an enormous shell given to the King by the Venetian public.

Outside the church was a lovely square and the Fontaine Saint-Sulpice. A nice place to sit and admire the Parisian surroundings.Read more
