Thanks again our friend, we'll see you on the road!Read more

      To Pushkar

      March 7, 2023 in India ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

We were picked up to head to the train at 5am so it was an early get up. From Udaipur to Ajmer near to Pushkar is about a 5 hour journey. It went quite quickly although I had a stiff neck from trying to sleep. This quickly passed.

We went to our hotel to check in and we had a choices to stay at the hotel and relax or go to the Holi colour festival. James went to the festival. The people daub paint on others faces and throw paint powder on each other, this was all light hearted and those who went enjoyed it. They looked a real state covered in paint powder, for those who had put moisturiser on their skin the paint washed off fairly well.

I had an enjoyable buffet lunch, a swim and read my book.

Then we went for a walk into town. Pushkar is a touristy place and many Indians were on holiday. The town has a long street with gift shops all along it, jewellery shops, clothes shops, all sorts of gifts including long daggers!

We went to the lake where people were putting flowers into the water and saying prayers for their dead relatives.

In the evening we went to a family home to experience a family meal. The family were three brothers who lived with their families in houses on the same plot. We had our meal outside, it was all tasty and just spicy enough for us.
I would have liked to look at the kitchen but didn't think to ask.
It poured with huge drops of rain several times during the afternoon and evening.

      Another lovely day.

      Pushkar to Delhi

      March 8, 2023 in India ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

We went onto Pushkar to have breakfast, Tony had suggested we went to a great juice bar. We had fruit, curd and muesli which was absolutely delicious. There were so many different juice choices. I chose one with ginger and the Indian gooseberry which grows on a tree and looks like a greengage.

We then had a couple of hours shopping time. We brought a t shirt and a drawing book for Lewis.

Then headed back to the hotel as we were getting the train back to Delhi.
The train journey was about 7 hours, when we arrived back at the hotel in Delhi we were all ready for a drink.
It was sad to be saying goodbye to our travel companions from the last two weeks.
We had all got on really well and enjoyed each others company. They were all kind and good to spend time with.

      Accommodations in Malacca

      March 21, 2018 in India ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Travel to the most pocket friendly Accommodations in Malacca by Bus

The hotels in Malacca are some of the best choices for travellers who prefer comfortable accommodations and do not wish to take anything lying down. Although low on cost, the properties are equipped with some of the most modern amenities and staff that is warm and welcoming. These properties are proofs that you need not splurge to get some of the best accommodations. The interiors of the room will put even some of the most luxurious hotels to shame. Equipped with outdoor pools, spa treatments and courtyards these hotels have everything that a luxury hotel would! If you are planning to go strict on your accommodation budget why not as well on your travel budget. Make sure to travel by bus as they have some of the cheapest fares and sometimes offer better services than a cab would!

This website https://www.redbus.my/ lets you book your bus tickets online which is very hassle free.

      Hotel Sentral View Melaka
It is a 3 star hotel and you are sure to get value for money here. It considered one of the best options for travellers who are on a tight budget. It is located alongside Jalan Tun Ali and is only two kilometres away from some of the most signature landmarks of this historical place so you will not have to spend much on travel either. The hotel houses more than 112 fully air conditioned guest rooms. The rooms have a minimalistic decor that looks pleasing to the eyes. The beds are soft and comfortable. The rooms are equipped with tea and coffee vending machines and the bathrooms have bathtubs too. Free WiFi and a TV is available in the Executive Suite, which is priced moderately. I visited this place as I had several meeting to attend. We stayed in a standard room with twin beds. It appears that the hotel is recently renovated. It has wooden flooring. The bed was ok but if you are used to resting your head on a thick pillow, you might have a problem as the pillows are quite soft. Washrooms are clean and fine but the pressure of water is a little low. Food for the price is also ok. You can board a bus from Melaka Sentral Station, which will drop you off a kilometre away from this hotel. A little walking will not harm you and a healthy option too!

      Eco Tree Hotel
Located in Melaka Raya the hotel has been rated four stars by its guests that is quite high for a budget accommodation hotel. The hotel has qwerty interiors and is completely equipped with all the modern amenities you would want to see in your room. The rooms have air conditioning, coffee vending machines, televisions and bathtubs. Everything you would find in a luxury hotel. The hotel is also reachable from Jonker Street by bus. The journey will take you somewhere around 15-20 minutes in lean hours. I will not recommend you to book a cab, as there is a lot of traffic at all times of the day.
