My plan for the day was to visit the Hakone area, I had to switch once to reach Odawara and then take a slow and rocky bus to Hakone-En. I also used my first Shinkansen. It sure is great with the JR Pass that Shinkansen are included with the exception of two Skinansen that are a little faster because of less stations, but a lot more expensive. Shinkansen is a step up from Deutsche Bahn, when it goes through curves it makes the whole world go visually diagonal. And that speed... You could get addicted just using Shinkansen, watching the world fly by. I reached Hakone-En around Noon and made my way to the Hakone Komagatake ropeway station up to the mountain, it was windy and chilly on the mountain, and the lonesome shrine mototsumiya was waiting patiently for visitors. On a clear day, you could have seen Mt Fuji and Ashitaka, but alas it wasn't one of these days. The views to lake Ashinoko were beautiful all on its own. Once I went down again I walked to Hakone Temple that had a very popular torii near the lake shore and people were queing to get on front and take pics without someone else in the shot. I did so too. It was funny how people got enraged by ugly swan boats floating into the picture all the time and ruining it for those who didn't like them in the background. The way home was tiring as the bus was delayed in a jam and I had to stand because it was full, which gave me acceleration trauma. Really felt like a rollercoaster. When I finally made it back to Odawara, I reserved shinkansen again for my journey back to Chiba.

Read more
Traveler :-) Das freut mich sehr. :-)
