Day 66: Mountainbiking rules hereSeptember 24, 2016 in New Zealand
Day 5 New Zealand I am ready for it. Rain is normal here, so better get used to it. Dress like a Dutchie in The Netherlands and expect every type of weather. Well we started of a little slow but the track was also quite steep sometimes. Going up with the sun was to hot and going down with rain and wind to cold. A challenge to stay on a comfortable temperature, but the view was amazing all the time. Sometimes the track went on the edge of cliffs but just don't use the breaks at all and you will have the time of your life and live 😂. We arrived at the Huka Falls and these were amazing, clear blue water that goes down with a lot of energy, no drop off but still wouldn't dare to go in 😉. We continued our bike trip on the other side of the river and to Taupo to find another crossing. Interesting was that it felt like goint the wrong way because the lake was so big it looked like a sea and also you would think water flows to it. The opposite was true, water came from the lake, going where ever water goes here 😉. From the crossing we headed back allong the river past an abandoned bungee spot, very beautifull views here. Back past our hot springs of last night to the Camper. Had this familiar lunch and packed everything to say goodbye to our aprreciated power and fresh water supply on this site😊.
Moved out with a destination that must be near mount Doom so we found one with a lake view. We were not alone here but there were facilities to empty the toilet and dump waste water. You learn to use a moving home, it has things going in and things going out. Both need to be checked regularly, finally we had one moment that all was empty that needed to be empty (waste bin, water and toilet) and full was full ( 75L diesel, fresh water, power, batteries and food supplies). Time for a nice movie and chill out and mentally prepare for Mt Doom tomorrow. Good night my little Hobbit friends 😉Read more
