      Transitions...

      April 24 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 39 °F

Today we started walking before sunrise as usual and realized that the way had changed. What previously were small groups of pilgrims starting their morning - today became to look like the commute into Portland on a weekday morning. Pilgrim groups of 4, 5, 6 and more were crowding the trail. "Our" way has changed. It was until 3 hours into the walk that the distance between groups spread further and further apart. Lydia and I truly enjoy walking along the sounds to the birds, cows, and occasional dogs. A peaceful time in nature.

Now time for a movie quiz. Guess the photo and the movie it represents. Good luck!

      Day 34

      September 26, 2022 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 7 °C

As we know I don’t panic anymore 🤪.. so, i woke up this morning to an eek moment 😂. My back was so stiff that I couldn’t bend over and had to sit on the floor to put my trainers on!!!
Breakfast and ibuprofen later and I’m on my way…
Again the first 17 km’s today were like a sponsored walk.. I can’t believe the amount of people now! After 17km it thinned out a bit and then by the last 6 or 7km’s I was virtually on my own.. bliss!!!’
The scenery was fabulous, the weather changed from really misty and cold, to sunny and reasonably warm.. the temperature has definitely dropped, whilst I was walking I was fine, but have had real trouble keeping warm since I finished..
Palas de Reí is quite small and not really a great deal to do/see.. a good day to catch up on some sleep as I’ve not slept very well the last few days..
I’m starting to feel ready to be in Santiago now.. the remaining days are considerably shorter and I’d happily double them up…

Camino Day 25 - Palas de Rei

      September 18, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

A short 25kms today so we left early to beat the rain. Turns out the rain didn't come and it was a dry day, with a few clouds.
The "walking dead" were a bit quite so we walked in relative peace.
Not many sights on the way today, but had a great Ox burger for lunch, along with a cold radler.
The legs were a bit tired once we arrived at our destination, and luckily albergue was close to start of town.
After a rest we headed in for dinner and found a great pasta place run by an Irish couple. We dined with a group from Poland and shared a few stories. Overall a great night!

Palas de Rei - Albergue Zendoira

      October 13, 2019 in Spain ⋅ 🌧 57 °F

Rain, rain, and more rain. Not very many pictures today as I was trying to keep my electronics as dry as possible. Mia and I arrived at our destination in a less than dry condition, her even more so than I. We have three more days of walking in the rain. Are we there yet? Now we are dry and tucked into another pod albergue but we have to venture out to find food this evening.

      June 15, 2019 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C
