Shortly after I began walking this morning I came across the house with some great trompe l'oeil paintings.

Traveler Such a pleasure to read this for breakfast most every morning.
Laurie Reynolds Lastres is such a beautiful little place. Did you walk there? I remember we stayed in Colunga and took a cab there for dinner. I would love to have walked there.
Traveler Yes, I walked along the coast from La Isla. It was a beautiful walk.
Laurie Reynolds Lucky you. Terri, I don’t know if you’re as much of a fan of ancient churches, as I am, but the pre-Romanesque church at Valdedios on the way down to Oviedo from Villaviciosa is beautiful. It’s not a very big detour, and as you climb out of the valley on your way back to the Camino, the views behind you of the church in the valley are really special. Timing might be an issue depending on where you’re leaving from, because I don’t think it opens till late.
Traveler I did take the route by the monastery and church, but it's not open on Mondays at all, and we couldn't get into the gate to get a good look at the exterior, but it was a nice view after walking up the hill.
