nach 7 Wochen nehmen wir heute Abschied- und es ist nochmal ein perfekter Tag 🙃 Wir laufen an ein einsames Kap und genießen den perfekten Moment.
Die Bucht ist ausgewählt, das Wetter ruft nach einem Strandausflug - und es ist herrlich!! Strandbar in der Nähe und bei Ebbe kann man gut baden gehen 😉
Zum Schluss auch nochmal ein Highlight in Sachen Unterkunft- ein altes Kloster ist jetzt ein Gourmettempel, ein perfekter Abschluss!
Unser Fazit: einfach machen!! Es gibt so unendlich viel Schönes zu entdecken!Read more

Day 8
Day 5 as Pilgrims

We really enjoyed our apartment, so clean and modern. We were a little sluggish this morning after having several drinks and dinner with Chris and Mark last night. A delightful couple of guys who both live in England now but Chris was born in Africa and Mark was born in California.
We walked through the town of Betanzos and bought empanadas to eat later. We met a delightful lady who was walking her dog. Naturally she spoke to us in Spanish and, of course, we could not understand her so then she spoke to us in German which wasn’t a whole lot better!! But it was fun.
Today was much warmer than past days and we were climbing for most of the day so it was hard going. Our destination, Presedo, does not have any accommodation except for a municipal albergue so we had made reservations at Rectoral de Cines, a 1,000 year old former convent. It is stunning.
We ate a lovely dinner of cod (me) and veal (Chris) then we took a walk around outside and enjoyed an amazing sunset before bed.Read more
Traveler Love the bedroom. I was wondering if partying in the evening would make it hard to hike but sounds like you guys are doing fine! Living your best life for sure!

Heading home

Leaving the hostel and walking off to the bus station, I wondered how long it would be before I reached Santiago de Compostela again. The journey home was long, but a good way to make sure my weakened knee was rested. Flixbus bus from Santiago to Bordeaux (11:35 - 01:50), I'd reserved the front seat to enjoy the views as we drove along the northern shores of Spain and then the west of France. I was surprised when we headed up to A Coruna first, a place that is on the Camino Inglés. From Bordeaux another bus took me to Rennes (2:50 - 9:40) where I was met by Richard. A quick coffee and then drove home, arriving roughly 24 hours after I'd left Santiago de Compostela. I wonder when I'll be back? Mmm, plans already turning in my mind.........Read more

I left early and stopped for coffee with the boys. They were telling me about a guy doing the walk barefoot, they even video'd him! They also picked up a new Camino friend, Perla, who's walking companion seems to have left her behind. And I found out there's a big Nordic Walking group from Sevilla walking together. They make up most of the pack.

Today's walk is about going up hill. Starting with a steep climb out of Betanzos then it flattened out for the walk to the coffee stop and later lunch. I packed my own lunch for today ,but it turns out I could have eaten at my next stop. It is wonderful place with a garden that opens on the Camino. I sat with the guys there too. They had passed me and were already there when I got there. Alejandro showed me an elevation view of this stage and I saw that I had a long ways up to go even though I was almost 1/2 way to my days end, so I bid my goodbyes as they started their 2nd beers figuring they would pass me again.Read more

Am Ende des Tages bleibt eine Strecke von einem Marathon übrig. Auf dem Thermometer wird nicht viel Themperatur angezeigt aber die Sonne ist ganz schön brizelig am Mittag.
