Jama Masjid (Jama mosque)

We started our day with a visit to this huge mosque in the heart of Old Delhi. It can hold 25,000 worshippers for Friday prayer!

Chandni Chowk Market and Spice Market!

The Red Fort

We were lucky enough to be shepherded to the front of the long line to get into this very old fort, which is our second UNESCO World Heritage site of the trip. A free government approved guide offeredもっと詳しく
Raj Ghat

This is a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi and marks the place where he was cremated. Nearby are other memorials, including one dedicated to Indira Gandhi. It’s located in a lovely large, peacefulもっと詳しく
Humayun’s Tomb

Lotus Temple

This is a Baha’i house of worship and only opened in 1986. It was built with 9-part symmetry and is surrounded by beautifully maintained grounds. A lovely walk and then quiet place to sit. Theもっと詳しく
Qutub Minar - Minaret and Victory Tower

Another UNESCO World Heritage site! The tower was built between 1199 and 1220. It is 238 feet tall and the tallest stone tower in India. It’s made of red sandstone and marble. A large mosque wasもっと詳しく
Sikh temple - Gurdwara Bangla Sahib

Our guide/driver took us to visit a huge Sikh temple that started in the 17th century. To go inside we had to wear simple scarves to cover our heads.

Vintage and Classic Car Collection

On our way from the airport to the hotel our driver/guide took us to The Palace Udaipur Vintage and Classic Car Museum. I was thinking of my dad and brother as we saw these beautiful vintage cars thatもっと詳しく
Garden of the Maidens - Sahelyon ki bari

This was a lovely place for a quick visit in the middle of the city. It was built by Maharana Sangram Singh II as a garden for women. There was a sweet little art gallery with paintings depictingもっと詳しく
Shiv Niwas Palace - looking for 007!

City Palace Museum

This museum is in the palace complex where we are staying. Gorgeous details everywhere, and fascinating artifacts! It was really hard to choose just 20 photos (the limit per footprint)!
Boat to Jagmandir Island Palace

After our museum visit we had a relaxing boat ride (up to 24 passengers on the boat) to an island in the lake for lunch. It was a beautiful setting and the gardens were lovely!
Miniature Painting demo & gallery visit

Our guide took us to a gallery full of paintings old and new done in the miniature painting technique. Many were authorized reproductions of some of the paintings that we’d seen in the Palaceもっと詳しく
Invitation to a wedding celebration!

We were invited this evening to an Indian pre-wedding ceremony in the neighborhood right outside the palace hotel where we are staying!! Our driver/guide is friends with a man who lives in theもっと詳しく
Chittorgarh Fort - World Heritage site

This is the largest fort in India and the only fort that people still live in. It’s spread over 700 acres and includes remains of palaces, Jain temples and housing. It was originally built in theもっと詳しく
Hay trucks

Shahpura House - another palace!

Amber Fort

The Jantar Mantar Observatory

Hanuman Temple - the monkey temple

Danger, danger! Indian tailor visit!

We had too much fun visiting this very kind tailor and ordering a few lovely things to have shipped home. They could actually have things done and delivered to our hotel before we leave Jaipur in theもっと詳しく
