    I'm Heading Home....

    May 18, 2018 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

Almost 30 days of being away...wow! I’m excited to go home but sad to see the adventure ending. Back to reality I guess.

    I’m home!!!

Maybe another adventure soon.....where should I go?

  • B2B (Back to Berlin)

    May 17, 2018 in Czech Republic ⋅ 🌧 11 °C

I’m heading back to Berlin today. It was pouring rain this morning at 5:30 am and I got pretty wet as I walked to the train station, even with an umbrella.

The train was on time. I have one more day in Berlin but I’m heading to the hotel when I arrive to get settled in. Jason is on a road trip with his brother or I would have connected with him. The hotel is close to the airport so it will be a quick jaunt to catch my flight.

I had to wait til 2:00 for check in. Ugh. The last thing you want to do after traveling is wait. I’ve had my share of waiting in the past month. I’m a patient man but I can see why people become impatient!

I’ll roam around the hotel area. There is a shopping mall and some shops too. I want a good nights rest so no partying tonight....I haven’t really partied on my trip.

  • Walking Tour in Prague.1

    May 15, 2018 in Czech Republic ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

I had the 3 hour walking tour today. The guide was great. He gave a overview of the history and of different attractions in Prague. Just in the last 15 minutes of the tour it started to rain. My the time I got back to the hotel, I was soaking wet. Aww well. It can’t be sunny all the time. I didn’t bring my umbrella either. Mental note.....always bring an umbrella.Read more

  • Destination: Prague.2

    May 14, 2018 in Czech Republic ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

Wow. Prague is so beautiful. I took a walk around the tourist filled streets. You can’t take a bad picture here.

I gave in and had a TRDLO. It’s like a cone but made of dough, put in a rotisserie and then sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. It can be filled with different things. I chose apple and whip cream. Needless to say, I’m not very hungry right now. It was delicious and filling. I guess I had dessert for dinner!!Read more

  • Destination: Prague.1

    May 14, 2018 in Czech Republic ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

I usually travel with a plane or train but when I booked my travel to Prague, it didn’t give me an option for the train which I thought was strange. Instead it gave me a bus (Flixbus). So, I’m taking a 5 hour bus trip to Prague today.

Traveling is exhausting. I will need to have a few days to recoup when I get home. A vacation from my vacation.

I will likely just walk around a little today after I check in to my hotel.

Tomorrow is my bus ride to Prague. This will be the last stop before I head back home.Read more

  • Salzburg, Austria.1

    May 12, 2018 in Austria ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

After a little fiasco with my tickets and planning I was able to get on the Salzburg day tour. I messed up my dates and thought I was leaving on Tuesday to Prague. I know....that’s not like me! I was going to do the concentration camp today. I even bought the ticket. Guess that will have to be for another time I visit.

I’m very exited to visit Salzburg. It will be a full day with a late arrival. It’s going to also be sunny all day which means AMAZiNG pictures.

It’s quiet hot. The tour was more ‘informational’ and where to go to eat, what to visit, prices of things (all overpriced of course). It’s Saturday so it is inundated with tourists here. There is also lots of construction too.

It’s a beautiful city. Expensive and touristy, but I feel like in this day and age, anywhere you go is that way!

  • Munich.1

    May 11, 2018 in Germany ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

I went on a walking tour today. I saw so much and learned about some of the history of Munich. The tour itself was great. I recommend doing the free walking tour your first day in a big city as it helps you with where to go, what to do and what to eat / drink.Read more

  • Skye

    Old man of Storr (stone)
    Kilt Rock

    Not a good day today.

In a nutshell, the bus got sideswiped by another bus., smashing one of the door windows. Finally got another bus, but an accident on the way there blocked our route so we had to go around the lakes which added another 2 hours to our already late day.

We haven’t eaten and the driver seems to be on a mission to get back to our hostel, forgetting that nature calls.

It’s been 14 hours today. Mostly on the bus. By far the worst day on my trip. It happens I get it.

As long as we are safe, right.

  • Haggis Bus Tour.1

    May 7, 2018 in Scotland ⋅ ☀️ 11 °C

Today, I started the bus tour of Scotland. This part of the trip I’m doing solo.

So far, we stopped in a small town for a washroom break and saw some highland cows.

Our next stop was a walk through the Tay Forest Park called the Craigvinean. It was a man-made park with many Douglas Fir trees. I love all the mossy rocks and trees. The waterfall here was small but pretty.

We stopped for lunch in a small town called Dunkeld where we saw the Dunkeld Cathedral.

  • Edinburgh.1

    May 6, 2018 in Scotland ⋅ ☀️ 12 °C

My first impressions of Edinburgh were WOW!

It was a smooth experience getting from the airport to city centre. What threw me off was the massive set of steps going up to the hotel area. Talk about Machu Picchu all over again....with luggage.

I arrived around 10. I had to cut through this court yard to get to the main lobby. The courtyard was filled with massive amounts of people, drinking and watching a boxing match. It was very difficult to cut through and the noise was over the top. I did manage to get into the hotel and check in. She assured me I wouldn’t hear anything from my room. I did here some but it was not too bad.

There is going to be a ton to discover today but I won’t be able to do it all so, we will see. Plus it’s Sunday so many places will be closed.

  • DUB to EDI

    May 5, 2018 in Scotland ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

Today is going to be a travel day. I will be flying to Edinburgh tonight. I can’t really do much as I have to check out of the hotel and make my way to the airport. I’ll be getting into Scotland later this evening. I’ll likely just walk the city centre or do a free tour.

I’ve seen and done what I’ve wanted in Dublin.

After a long wait, I’ve arrived safe and sound in Edinburgh. I need a good sleep so I can tackle the day tomorrow!!

  • Blarney Castle

    May 4, 2018 in Ireland ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

Today’s agenda includes Blarney Castle and then back to Dublin. This will conclude the tour.

The castle was cool. It had narrow stone spiral staircases. It could be dangerous if you slipped.

I wasn’t going to kiss the famous Blarney Stone. Luckily we got there first and didn’t have to wait long.

The castle grounds were enormous. We had over 2 hours to explore. It was almost too much time so we went into town to get some lunch.

We have a long bus ride back to Dublin.
