Hello Upper East Siders
We woke up at 6:30 today, because I had an appointment with Mr Summit One Vanderbuilt. His Highness opened its doors at 9 for me. The view was ✨amazing✨
A nice lady took a few pics of me there. I visited Grand Central Station then - Gossip Girl set, but without spotting Serena or Lonely Boy today. After Summit OV I went to Central Park again bc I missed the Chuck and Blair wedding location on my walk yesterday which was a pity. Central Park is by far my favourite part of NY. Then I took the Subway to Soho but there was not a lot going on. So I went back uptown to Bryant Park where I am now. I has Pizza from Joes Pizza bc I really wanted to try a NY pizza before I leave (10/10 worth it). At Bryant Park there is a little Christmas market where I have a cookie nd hot apple cider (dont know if its alcoholic or not).

Nachdem wir erfolgreich abends in NYC gelandet sind, schnappten wir uns ein Taxi, um zu unserem Hotel zu gelangen. Wir waren bereits von der Taxi Fahrt mit einem Tesla in die Stadt überwältigt 🤩 die beleuchteten Hochhäuser haben schon einen enormen Charm 🤩
Wir wohnen wirklich nur 1 Straße entfernt vom Broadway und beschlossen nachdem Check-in und dem Abendessen noch den Time Square (inkl. Broadway) anzuschauen.
Witzig ich persönlich habe es mir ganz anders vorgestellt. Aber es ist schon seeeehr beeindruckend und maximal reizüberflutend 😅 und maximal zu viele Leute 🫡 have a look. Wir waren dann entsprechend, weil platt wie ne Flunder, nur nochmal in unsrer Hotel Skybar die Aussicht anschauen uns sind förmlich nur noch ins Bett gefallen 🫠🤭 erste interessante Lektion: hier riecht es wirklich fast überall andauernd nach Gras 🫣Read more

Nach dem Frühstück haben wir einen kleinen Abstecher zum Bryant Park gemacht. Hier wird zur Weihnachtszeit ein Winterdorf aufgebaut. In der Mitte befindet sich die bekannte Eislaufbahn, drum herum gibt es viele Stände, die die verschiedensten Produkte anbieten. Nicht so viel Charme wie ein deutscher Weihnachtsmarkt, aber wirklich beeindruckend. Zum Aufwärmen gab es einen heißen Apple Cider.Read more

4. Dog walking is HUGE here....as in, if you are wealthy enough, you hire dog walkers for your fur babies. They make $25per hour per dog!
5. Efficiency when it rains and you enter your work building
6. With all this money, the NY underground is still yucky.

Um ein bisschen Zeit zu überbrücken, haben wir uns das Spektakel im Bryant Park Winter Village noch einmal bei abendlicher Beleuchtung angeschaut. Natürlich gab es auch noch einen Apple Cider. last day in NYC 🥺

Heute war es dann soweit - der letzte Tag ist angebrochen🥺
Aber wir wollten es uns so gemütlich wie nur möglich machen und haben deshalb mit einem leckerem Frühstück von Orwashers im Central Park am Wasser gestartet. Wir blieben jedoch nicht alleine - eine Gans stattete uns einen Besuch ab und Papa hat ihr auch was abgegeben.
Danach haben wir uns auf den Weg zur Roosevelt Island Tramway gemacht und von dort nochmal einen ganz anderen Ausblick auf die Skyline von Manhatten genossen.
Wir wollten uns den Times Square auch im Hellen nicht entgehen lassen, weshalb wir uns das heute auch nochmal angeschaut, die berühmte Treppe und auch den Naked Cowboy gefunden haben.
Danach hieß es zuletzt noch auf eine ganz andere Art und Weise New York zu entdecken - es ging nach Brooklyn. Dort sind wir einfach der Menschenmenge gefolgt. Denn wo wollen sonst alle hin, außer zu Dumbo? Dabei haben wir herausgefunden, dass es sich bei den tollen Bilder der Brücke aus Brooklyn gar nicht um die Brooklyn Bridge, sondern um die Manhattan Bridge handelt. Das war wirklich ein wunderschöner Ausflug!
Jetzt mussten wir irgendwie noch die Zeit rumkriegen bis unser Flieger zurück nach Deutschland ging. Wir haben uns also in den altbewährten Bryant Park mit ein paar Snacks gesetzt und die letzte Zeit genutzt.
Und dann ging es auch schon zum Hotel, um unsere Sachen abzuholen und uns auf den Weg zum Flughafen zu machen. ✈️Read more

$ Mieszkamy w murzynskiej czesci miasta. W naszym metrze jesteśmy czesto jedynymi białymi... zrobilibysmy zdjęcie, ale troche strach.

$ Nigdy nie spotkalismy sie z taką uprzejmoscia na ulicy jak ze strony czarnoskórych w naszej dzielnicy. Przychodzili z pomoca, gdy wygladalismy na zagubionych, albo zagadywali, że mamy takie same kurtki. Mówili ze to słodkie, a nam robiło sie miło.

$ W subwayu zawsze trafiali nam sie różni performersi. Jeden skakal nawet jak malpka po tych rurkach do trzymania pod sufitem.

$ W naszym mieszkanku ogrzewanie słabo dziala. Jak już w ogóle działa. Podgrzewamy sie suszarka do włosów.

$ Na kilka godzin przed godziną zero w sylwestra bardzo się rozpadalo. Mamy na sobie tylko puchy, więc czekamy na stacji metra na okno pogodowe. Boję się, że jeśli nie przestanie padać to właśnie tak będzie wyglądać mój wielki Sylwester w NYC...
Apdejt: teraz jeździmy metrem, żeby zabic trochę czasu i nie marznac. I tak przez 1,5 godziny.
Apdejt 2: I po wszystkim. Z mostu Brooklynskiego podziwialismy zapierajaca dech w piersiach nocną panoramę Manhattanu, niecierpliwie wyczekujac wielkiego odliczania i tych najlepszych na świecie fajerwerków. Jesteśmy przecież w NYC więc to mial by pokaz naszego życia. I nie było ani Big Countdown ani fajerwerkow. Przemarznieci i z pełnymi pęcherzami wracalismy do domu jeszcze 2 godziny... Taki to byl Sylwester w Nowym Jorku.

$ Dzień zwiedzania muzeum Historii Naturalnej. Lało jak z cebra a kolejka do security check na 3h.. Pod chmurką. Gdy zmierzalismy na koniec kolejki, znikąd pojawił się jakiś ochroniarz i wpuścił nas prosto do muzeum. Dzieci szczęścia to my.

$ Przytłacza nas ogrom plastiku. Wszystko jest pakowane w plastikowe opakowania a panie na kasie pakuja po 3 towary do plastikowej reklamówki, którą oblekaja jeszcze jedną plastikową reklamowka. Zrobilismy z nich uzytek. Jedne uzywamy jako worki na smieci a w innych mieszamy salatki. Nasze salatki nigdy nie miały tak równomiernie rozprowadzonego dipa.

Central Park

Real lazy start to the day, not venturing down to breakfast until 10 AM must have been tired out from yesterday.
We decide to wander into Central Park taking in the varying different elements, watch a little bit of ice skating but neither of us are keen on partaking at the moment. As we wander out we spot the horse and carriage rides, we decide to take the tour with Danny Boy (that’s our horse for the next 45 minutes). The driver is very knowledgeable pointing out several different elements referencing lots of films to locations including Home Alone. We stop at the fountain that’s in the Friends opening/closing credits for some photos before finishing our tour.
Leaving Central Park we head down 7th, cutting off at Radio City Music Hall, and the Rockafella centre where they are preparing for the Christmas lights switch on on Wednesday. It’s heaving in and around there today so Wednesday could be interesting!! They also have ice skating on the lower level of the Rockafella, we get a view but getting close to it would have been a battle. Over to Grand Central Station via Saks 5th Avenue, I’d been recommended a bar at GCS, once we find it, it’s packed, maybe 5 on a Saturday isn’t the best time. We go off hunting for a secret bar that I have read about, we find it on the 2nd floor of a hotel but it’s closed for renovations 🤔. We battle on through a very busy Times Square and after that we need a couple of 🍻.
After several beers we are heading back to Central Park the idea being to watch the ice skating under lights, but both needing the loo and it’s persistent raining, we seek solace in another refreshment establishment. Ice skating can wait for another day. We call for traditional pizza on the way back to our hotel. We get a small pizza, of course it’s massive, but very nice.Read more
