    Pittsburgh

    November 3, 2019 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 7 °C

Redbeards Bar & Grill, Mt Washington.

    December 28, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 4 °C

Now this place was quite interesting, a nice atmosphere, and the food was good, but the service was absolutely atrocious. We ordered and waited ages for our drinks, the meal took nearly an hour, and then the waitress just handed us our bill without even asking if we wanted any further drinks, quite a disappointment. However the Guinness was great.Read more

    Incline up to Mt Washington

    December 28, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 5 °C

Took the incline tram up Mt Washington and had lunch at the top in the Bearded Something or other. Good food and drink but the service was atrocious. Didn't tip and won't be back.
Was a great day. as their are actually two inc;lien trams, one at each end of Mt Washington. We took the northern one up, did lunch, walked down to the southern one and back down to the river. Really great sights from here as you can see in the snaps.Read more

Walked around Pittsburg just a short while as -11 is a bit tough to just stroll. Found this great Burger restaurant named Diamond Market Bar & Grill. Had Guinness so I was happy, then some awesome HOLY COW burger named a Big GRRRR. Check out the pic.Read more

It's a hockey night in Pittsburgh.

    January 4, 2019 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 2 °C

Our last day in PA was spent at a delicious Koren BBQ place with heaps of sushi. We packed a bit more and did little bits and pieces around the house before heading to the Pens game. We were so lucky to get the seats we did. It was so excited and we won 4-0. Great end to the US portion of our trip!Read more

    Skating under the Chrissy Tree

    December 16, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ -5 °C

After dinner we went around the corner to the Pittsburg Christmas Tree for the ice skating, such a great thing to see as we don't have this white Xmas stuff. Ice skating, ice, snow, Chrissy Tree and Xmas songs. Cool stuff.Read more

    Pittsburgh by Night

    December 28, 2016 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 2 °C

Pittsburgh is really such a beautiful city. We had a great time here strolling the streets in the minus temperatures, but the place is so picturesque with such incredible history behind it we weren't too concerned about the cold.
It's history goes way back even before the war of independence back in the days of British rule, and much of the history still remains.

    Carnegie Science Museum

    December 29, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 4 °C

Took the morning to check out the Carnegie Science Museum just up the road from Heinz Field, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Got there first ting and the line of people and kids trying to get in was amazing, it looked like school drop off back home, cars just streaming in to get into the carpark choked with kids.
A really interesting spot to see, at least once, more aimed at the young ones though.
Did take time out to go aboard the USS submarine to check that out. No way I could work in one of these giant cigar tubes.

    Amtrak to Philadelphia

    December 17, 2016 in the United States ⋅ 🌫 0 °C

Early Saturday morning start to walk across the road to the Amtrak station turned into a bit if a challenge. Unaware of the local conditions, the sub zero temperatures had iced everything up and without realizing I suddenly found the impact of walking onto a metal grate that was icy, landing face first on the sidewalk and it was definitely an ...OUCH.
Here we go now, on the train to Philadelphia finally. The trains are pretty spacious on the longer routes as you can see form the picture of the girls, good leg room, plenty of recline and pretty comfortable. Once underway we headed to the cafe car for some snacks and a few beverages. Very comfortable way of getting around the US.

    Santa! I know him!

    December 28, 2018 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 14 °C

We got up “early” to go shopping down at the outlets. I got a Michael Kors purse and wallet for the price of the wallet +$2!! What!! And Coach shoes for 70% off!! We rushed back to the house to change and headed to Station Square for dinner at the Grand Concourse. Great venue. After dinner we attended Elf the Musical at Heinz Hall. My expectations were too high but it was definitely entertaining! Following the musical, we met up with Pittsburgh local friends and went to not just one, not two, but three Christmas bars in downtown.Read more
