Buen Camino has been sleeping since January, except for warranty work that we had done April-May. Our warranty is up June 17 and Apache camping did OK, but didn’t complete the vapor barrier work and there is no time to make them complete it. When we finally got her back and returned her to Lake Stevens, I surprised Peggy with “Let’s wash the trailer” , as we hadn’t had the energy back in January and then had to wait out the cold weather. We had come up to Lake Stevens where she is stored to de-winterize: dumping out the alcohol anti-freeze that has been protecting her water system, setting all of the valves for summer use, then flushing the system with water and then filling the water storage with chlorine solution to sterilize it and make it safe. Then, after dumping the chlorine, filling up with water.

Things to remember: 1) wash out the water heater when winterizing, 2) when putting the new filters in the water filter make sure the orientation is correct (look for the word “TOP”), 3). Take better care of the water softener. Follow the directions. Luckily when the filter stopped working, I decided not to use the softener after seeing some discharge. Then after getting home and looking up the user manual, I have not been taking good care of it!! Had to leave it at home waiting for the sanitizer powder which is needed before recharging the ion exchange resin with salt. Oh, and back washing…do it more.

Also checking systems, propane working, stove working, batteries topped with distilled water.

The only things left for the morning were loading up, reconnecting the tire pressure monitors, torquing the trailer lug nuts, and hitching up.

We were able to get up and out on the road in less than an hour. The only problem was trying to use the RV Life navigation. It kept trying to send us through Cascades NP, rather than the southern route that was longer, but that goes through Leavenworth where we could have lunch.Leer más
