So I made it to the USA. After a 9.5 hrs flight I landed in Denver where I changed for my 2.5 hrs flight to Spokane. The layover of 2 hrs was actually more than enough as the chat with the Border Control Agent went quickly and rechecking only meant living my bag just behind the Customs border in the hands of united personal.
In Spokane I was picked up by Julia, a pen pal of Sabrina. She let me stay at her nice house which she shared with Alex her husband and his brothers Jason and Ryan.
On my first day I woke up at 4am which was not great. After the others got up at a more reasonable hour we went for our first hike, the Glenrose Hill /Cliffs trail. There I encountered my first wildlife. Wild turkeys and a deer. After that hike I got to experience my first Taco Bell.
The second day, thursday, we went to Riverfront Park downton and visited the MAC (Museum of Arts and Culture). The river being Spokane river, which is the main power source of Spokane. Riverfront Park was created for the Expo'74 which also featured in an exhibition at the MAC.
Friday featured a walk in Deep Creek Canyon, and a walk along Basalt hills and a lot of loose rock. Afterwards Alex and Julia took me to Costco, where you can get everything form TVs to pharmaceuticals and food in huge quantities. There we got 18" pizza for 10$ which was surprisingly good. Later that night Julia and I went to my first Impro Comedy show. Which I liked a lot.
Saturday we decided to cross off something from Julias Bingo Card for 2024 which was to hike Mt. Spokane. So we did and afterwards they took me to their favorite Mexican resturant in Spokane, Gerrados which was also very tasty.
My last day in Spokane was again spent in the Riverfront Park but a bit further down the river outside of Spokane. Later that night we met her brother and sister-in-law who live with his parents-in-law in a gated community which was very interesting to see and also a very fun time.
Now I am on my way train journey to Milwaukee and and I have just managed a third of the trip.Read more
