Seehunde sehen

Nach dem ersten (1,5 h) Bus folgte noch ein zweiter (1 h) und ein dritter (2h), um nach Truro auf Cape Cod zu kommen. In weiser Voraussicht hatte ich mir noch eine Suppe fürs Abendessen in dem kleinen Tante Emma Laden beim Ausstieg gekauft, da das Hostel nochmal 2 km Laufen entfernt war. Zum Glück hat mich ein nettes Pärchen auf dem Weg zum Strand mitgenommen, denn so praktisch es ist, keinen schweren Rucksack tragen zu müssen, aber so ein kleiner Rollkoffer wird eben auch schnell nervig.
Das Hostel ist wirklich sehr schön gelegen, ich kann von meinem Bett aus das Meer sehen. Allerdings ist es auch wirklich sehr abgelegen und nur die wenigsten kommen ohne Auto hierher. Das Hostel ist viel kleiner und familiärer als das in Boston und das Publikum viel diverser (und deutlich älter) und man kommt schneller mit den Leuten in Kontakt. Viele Amerikaner verbringen hier ein paar Tage und es bildete sich ein nettes Grüppchen gestern Abend.
Mit zwei von ihnen verbrachte ich heute den Tag, zunächst im Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, im Marschland sozusagen. Dort gab es wunderschöne Natur und viele verschiedene Vögel zu sehen. Sogar ein Kojote rannte vorbei. Zum Mittagessen sind wir in einem Imbiss am Hafen eingekehrt und danach haben Valerie und ich die Galerien in Wellfleet besichtigt. Sehr viel sehr schöne Kunst für so einen kleinen Ort!
Ein Eis habe ich mir auch noch gegönnt und von gönnen muss man sprechen, denn die Kugel kostet hier ca. 8 €, ist aber immerhin so groß wie zwei 😉
Als wir am späten Nachmittag zurück kamen, brauchte ich erstmal ein kleines Power nap, bevor ich dann zum Strand bin. Heute waren die Wellen nicht mehr ganz so groß wie gestern, aber es war auch keine stille See. Ich bin ein bisschen am Wasser entlang gelaufen, habe Fotos gemacht und eine riesige Muschel gefunden. Und auf dem Rückweg konnte ich dann sogar dreimal einen Seehund sichten. Gestern hatte ich auch schon zwei entdeckt. Sie schwimmen gerne zwischen den Wellen und lassen sich dazwischen treiben. Allerdings gibt es da wo es Seehunde gibt auch Haie. Naja, aber ich denke, ich muss morgen trotzdem mal kurz untertauchen und nicht nur mit den Füßen rein.
Abends haben Valerie und ich dann unseren Fisch und die Maiskolben gegrillt, die wir in Wellfleet gekauft hatten. Dazu japanische Süßkartoffeln und ein bisschen was Grünes, ein Festmahl. Leider gilt auch hier: kein Wein im Hostel. War aber auch so sehr lecker.Read more
