Monday my parents arrived in Brisbane and stayed in a hotel. I had to work until Tuesday so I went wensday morning to pick them up. And we spend the whole day packing both cars for the trip. In the evening we made a fire and played some pool at home with my house mates. That was chilled.

Thursday we really started to travel. Went to brisbane again to pickup my mom's suitcase. There went something wrong with the bagage of the flight.

Also we had to get Grocerys and stuff. And drove all the way to caloundra so total around 250km today.

It was funny that my mum and dad had a different idea of how they would travel. So see how it goes and how they like it after 2 weeks :-PEn savoir plus

Fraser island

On Saturday I picked up my travelmate And my parents went alone to noosa. We met in the evening on a campsite.

The next day we went to Fraser. That's the biggest sand island on the world. There are no roads. You drive on the beach and inland there are only sand roads. Only 4wd vehicles are allowed on the island. We drove around 2 hours to get to a lake in the middle of the Island. Lake McKenzie was really nice. It was so clear that you could see easily 10m deep. Fraser is also famous of the dingos (wild dogs). Also drive trough the sea was really fun. Having a big splash from the water!

We slept on a nice camping with nice showers. The next day we went to the champagne pools and saw a few Wales there. When we went back. My mum and dad got stuck in the sand and had a hard time to get them out. Because the 4wd we have are really low. It took over 2 hours to get from the top to the bottom of the island. It was about 100km driving on the beach.

Glad we're back on the road driving in the sand was quite wobbly and takes some energy. But it was fun!En savoir plus

Town of 1770

After Fraser island we went short to rainbow beach where the beach has different colours of brown sand. They where also walking along the beach with horses.

Then we headed off to town of 1770 that was nice. Stayed there for a couple of hours and went to a lockout.

On our way up to the next campsite we stopped at an bbq site on the beach. But took a long time to cook our food due the wind. So we did the dishes in an public toilet because there was no wind :-PEn savoir plus

Airlie beach

Next stop was Airlie beach. Here we did an cruise to whiteheaven beach. That was really nice! The sand was quite white. It was kinda paradise.

Next day we went all Skydiving! Yeahj! So I went togeter with my parents in an small plane. The flight up was beautiful! We could see the withsundays from the plane and the turquoise blue sea!. Then almost on height my mum went a bit nervous. Then the door opened and her reaction was whow! My mum went first and I was second. Was a fun exit., climb up the wheel and hold on the wing. My dad went last. I just enjoyed my solo jump. Because normally I always jump with other people. And the weather was perfect to jump! Almost no clouds and around 27 degrees.

Then it was already time to leave. Next stop was wallaman falls these falls are 286m high. So huge! We walked from the top all the way to the bottem of the waterfall. It was a decent hike. Definitely not for lazy people!.En savoir plus

Waterfall day and mission beach

The last area before Cairns where a lot of waterfalls.
One of the waterfalls is used in a herbal essence commercial. It's a really nice waterfall with pool. One of the waterfalls was only accessible by a closed track. We just went down and had to watch where we stepped. It was slippery and had to climb over some fallen trees but it wasn't to bad.

We also visited mission beach. The town was really small. And the beach was nice cause of the palmtrees. Further it was a normal Australian beach.En savoir plus

Cairns

We arrived in cairns and slept on a camping inside the city. The next day we had a tour to the upolu reef at the great barrier reef. It was a small boat with maximum 20 people on board so that was nice. It took about 2 hours to get to the reef. I did first diving. We went between 2 and 8 meters deep. Saw a lot of different colour fishes. Also saw an big turtle! The coral was awesome to see, there were some bright colours in the reef.
The second stop I only snorkeled but saw again a lot of fishes and nice coral. I will upload the video's of the trip sometime when I got wifi and time. :-PEn savoir plus

Cape tribulation

On Friday I had a bushparty, I went with my new travelmate to the party. We had to pickup an old dj who would be making music that night. He had a bit more gear than expected so I had to get everything out of the car to make place for the big speakers. But in the end we arrived on the party. There was a super nice fire and friendly people. In the end there where around 60 people on the location. It was on a farm 20km outside the city.

Some people didn't even sleep on the party but it was awesome!

The next day back to cairns and putt all my own stuff back in the car. Afterwards we got some Grocerys. And went off to Cape tribulation. On the ferry across the daintree river there where a shitload of bats flying over the river because it was already getting dark. It was so cool to see! In the dark we went to a campsite there. Reception was ofcourse closed but it was no problem we could just use everything and find a parkingspot and pay in the morning it was so Australian! Super chilled.

When we were cooking we met some awesome English guys. We went early to bed and got a early morning. Had a quick warmup hike to the beach, it was nice there. Then went for a long hike, took us total 4 hours. It was 3,5 km and elevation of almost 700m so definitely a good workout. The few on the top was stunning! Definitely worth the hike. Later we had lunch and did 2 other short hikes were we saw an cassuwary (dinosaur bird) that was cool. We drove in the dark towards Cairns and camped near cairns.En savoir plus

Things around cairns

I've been doing a lot around and in Cairns. Went to some waterfalls as in daytrips with a group of people. Went to the top of barronfalls, climbed up the crystal cascades. Went to port Douglas, Mowbray falls and did a croc tour. I saw snakes, lots of birds, lizards, gekko, frogs, crocodiles, Spiders, and lots of insects.

This weekend I'm going to some Blue pools and climb a mountain. Drinking some beers with friends and sort my stuff to be able to leave around Tuesday or Wednesday.

I'm going trough the outback towards Alice Springs, uluru and then adelaide. That would be around 4000km so a normal trip in Australia :-P

Then stay few days in adelaide with a friend. Afterwards go to Sydney to sell my car and go to Defcon 1!.

At 19 September is my year of traveling unfortunately already finished!En savoir plus

Dinner falls

Today finally the day to leave cairns and go through the outback of australia. I picked Marc up in the morning, we got Grocerys, water and fuel. Then we met up with christiane. I met her couple of days ago and had thesame plans. So we are driving in a convoy.

First destination was a waterfall with a small walk. We saw some turtles that was cool! Then we went to the dinner falls that was Allright they where nice waterfalls and there was also a big hole in the ground 130m deep.

To make one extra stop we went to the Tully falls. Those falls where the most impressive of Queensland. Now there is an hydrostation so here is no waterfall anymore.

At the end of the day we drove a bit further and went to a rest area next to the road. We cooked some dinner and there was another guy (Adam) who arrived a bit later. We talked a bit, drunk some Beers and played some games. He had kinda thesame travel plans so he planned to go with us for 1 day.En savoir plus

Lava tubes

In the morning we had breakfast and left with the 3 cars towards the kalkani krater. We could walk all around the edge of the krater. It was a nice view.

Later we went to do another walk there and did an tour trough Lava tubes there. The tour was really expensive 58 dollars for 2 hour tour. But we got Un the bus and the guy was so fucking boring. Felt asleep in the bus for an only 15 minute ride. It was like he was reading out of a book. The Lava tubes where quite impressive to see. But we should have just went there illegal and see it by ourselves.

Afterwards we drove for about 4 hours to the next campsite. We had to drive about 2 hours in the dark. Unfortunately there where a lot of Kangaroo's and got one under the car. I'm glad the Kangaroo went down ready to jump when I hit it else I could have totalled my car. A bit later I had almost a second one under the car. Luckily just missed it. On the campsite set up camp there and had a nice campfire. While searching for firewood I saw all kinda Bleu,pink,purple,white glitters on the ground with the touch. I was like hmm that's cool. When I came up closer I saw the glitter was an eye of an spider. So Spiders everywhere. But they where really small ones.En savoir plus

Lawn Hill national park

Today we woke up early again to have a nice long day. First thing in the morning we went to a nearby town to get fuel and a cup of coffee. Then we went on the road towards a national park. After a few km we already drove on the gravelroad. It was few hours driving on a gravel road. With a few towns in our way. To the National park we had 3 towns in 450km. Welcome to the outback.

On the national park it looked really beautiful so we went for a hike and saw a shitload of big bats in trees (pigeon size). Later on the hike we went to an higher viewpoint and watched the sunset there. Saw a small lizard having his dinner by eating ants. Quite fascinating to see. Bit later we sit at a gorge, it was a beautiful lookout. And one moment there are a lot of bats coming from the trees and flying trough the gorge, it is an super nice view. There where thousands and thousands of bats. In the evening we just camped on the parking place of the park.En savoir plus

Long day driving

In the morning we went straight for a hike to a waterfall. It was really nice and went for a swim there. The water was not even cold in the morning. So thats good. Then we went to a nice lookout. Back at the cars we got an shower and went off.

Further on it was a long day of driving. Around 250km on gravelroad with 1 tiny town in between. Then around 500 km on the highway to the middle of australia. We saw 1 tiny town on the way. So actually 6 hours of driving with nothing in-between.

In the gravelroad we had to drive trough a few small creeks, because it's dry season there wasn't that much water. Trough the creeks. Maybe around 50cm max.

Devils marbles

Last evening we played a game 'cards against humanity', that is a super awesome card game! Also drinking some rum coke made it a good cosy evening.

In the morning we left a bit later than normal. Also we where in the different timezone. First destination was Devils marbles. They are big rocks balancing on other rocks. A few rocks where nicely split in half. One of them looked like Parkman!

Then we hit the road again and went for a stop and drink a beer. Then driving again, later there was roadhouse we visited. All the walls where full of people who have been there and put there name on the wall. After a bit driving we saw some art statues they where pretty big! Also on our way there were spots where you can place your phone on a pole in front of a satellite so you got reception to call or whatever.

At the end of the day we arrived in Alice Springs. That's the middle of australia.En savoir plus

Alice springs

We went in the morning back to Alice Springs to get Grocerys, and liquor. We also did a tour at the fire department there because Marc is a fire fighter in Germany and want to go to all the different fire stations in Australia.

So it was really cool to do such a tour. Normally you wouldn't do that.

Then we went to get fuel before we leave to kings Canyon. Unfortunately my car had a bit of trouble to start. But we went on our way and had to drive 300km on gravelroad. Our timing was Allright we should arrive on the camp just before sunset. Unfortunately I got near the end and had a flat tire. So I had to change the tire and the 2 others where watching me while drinking a beer. Haha. I'm glad it was still light, dry and my reserve tire was good. When I finished we had all together a beer and went on our way again.

We came in the dark on the camp. Searched for some firewood and had a great night!.En savoir plus

Kings Canyon

Whe were planning on getting up before sunset. But after our alarm we fell asleep again. Because 3 hours sleep is indeed a bit to less.

Later in the morning we left. My car struggled even more with starting. I checked the oil and that was a bit low. Topped that up and see how it goes.

Next was kings Canyon. Went to a lookout first then to the canyon itself. There we did a 3 hour hike to climb up the canyon and walk all along the edge. It was really awesome view up there!

Later on we left there and we drove to uluru with some stops on the way. I was glad it was normal road and no gravelroad! Today we didn't drive that much almost 400km so less then all the other days.

As all the other days we where just to late to see the sunset at uluru, but we definitely gonna see it today! Staying at a Payed campsite for 2 nights. The car is working normal again. So probably it was because of the shaking of the gravelroads.En savoir plus

Uluru

In the morning we managed to get up early. We went all around uluru and also got to the top the Ayres rock. That was really awesome! I didn't do a lot sports and hiking. This hike was pretty intensive!

On the way around the rock we saw a bit of cave art. Afterwards we went back to the camp to bring some stuff to watch the sunset at uluru. We made pancakes and played beer pong while watching the sunset. A lot of people where watching what we where doing. It was so good!

Afterwards we went back to camp. We made a fire and played monopoly and a game of trictrac.

Went to bed to late again. And we drunk all the alcohol we had. Pff that was bad! HahaEn savoir plus

Kata Tjuta

We had a big night yesterday so we didn't leave to early. We did the walk through Valley of winds at kata tjuta. It was a super nice hike!

Afterwards we made lunch and left towards to Stuart highway. That's the main highway trough the outback. We played some pool and drunk a beer at a roadhouse.

From there Adam went north and we went south. We drove for a couple of hours. When we came in South Australia there were a lot of Kangaroo's on the road. One time I could just stop quick enough for some Kangaroo's. And when I stopped one Kangaroo's just hopped against the side of the car, he fell over and then got up again and hopped off. It was so funny to see!.

Coober Pedy

In the morning we got early up so we could drive a lot that day. After breakfast we drove off towards Cooper Pedy. There where a lot of big piles of dirt in the paddock along the road when we came close to Coober pedy. They where digging everywhere for opal.

We went to a Working opal mine and we could also cut ourselves something out of the walls. It was a good tour. Then we went to a underground house. It was really cool to see!

We wanted to play golf there but it was already late in the afternoon so it was closed. Then we drunk a beer and went off towards adelaide.

We drove about 250km In the dark. Luckily no Kangaroo's on the road. Halfway we stopped and could see a lot of stars because there was no light from anything.

Later on the rest stop along the road we parked our car. Drunk a few beers and had a campfire. It was really good! Later in the evening the moon had a bright white circle around itself. That was really cool to see, I haven't seen anything like that in my life.En savoir plus

Adelaide

It was a late night and during the night it was really cold in the car. I think it was outside around 5 degrees so not really warm.

In the morning we drove off and stopped and the nearest roadhouse and got coffee and some fuel. Then we went off towards adelaide. Only 600km to go!

Along the road we stopped for more fuel at Port Augusta.

The car from christiane turned 300.000km just before adelaide. So we had to celebrate that with champaign and beer.

In adelaide we stayed at my friend joll's place. Watched Baywatch and drunk some beers. The next day it was time to say goodbye to christiane.

Later in the afternoon I had to drop Marc of at a friend of his friend. So he never met her. We arrived there and in the end it was cosy and even I slept there. She was really kind to let us sleep in her house! I had to sleep on the ground next to Marc but it was okEn savoir plus

Sydney

I stayed at my friend in adelaide and we did some slack-lining. That was really cool! It's basically walking on a rope without holding anywhing.

In Tuesday evening I started driving with my car towards Sydney. I drove about 250km. The next day I drove to gulbourn. I had to stop there because my car started to run really crappy. So I slept there and started the car the next day and everything was fine. On my way to Sydney the car started to run crappy again. But after 10 minutes it was over again.

I drove all the way to my friend mohamad. And helped him with a job. The next day I met up with another friend and did a hike in the royal national park. That was really nice.

In the end of the afternoon I drove towards the city centre. Halfway my car started to run really crappy and I could barely get to a side road to get a safe spot.

There I called road assistance and they came after an hour and told me the pickup sensor from the Ignition was bad and had to replace it. The car still runs fine if it's cold but when it's warm then it gets problems. it was to far back so I got towed away for free because I was an premium member. Then I got an free cab to the the hostel I was staying (normally $140 for the taxi!).En savoir plus

Defqon 1

When I came in the hostel I checked in and went to the room. Later i went on my way to see a friend. On my way out another dutch guy started talking to me and said they had an pre-party on the balcony. So I went there. Sometimes it was hard to find some dutch words.

The next day we had breakfast, put our orange clothes on and went to the bus. We went in a partybus to the festival. Because we have a dutch passport we could get special and cheaper tickets. On the day the weather was perfect, sunny and 25 degrees!

If you where lost on the terrain then you just had to look for something orange and you found dutch people. It was an awesome day!

In the end we left again with the partybus and went straight back to sleep.

The next day we stayed with a big group of dutch people together. We hung out in the park and ate sushi. In the evening we went all to a restaurant for a proper burger. In the evening we went to a sportsbar to watch Formula one. Almost everyone left after 5 minutes because max crashed in the first corner unfortunately. After the race I got again a free taxi to my friend.En savoir plus
