Unexpected Stop

Saw a sign with a camera so figured a view point maybe. Pulled in and there were all these old trucks. Then I noticed the sign “Ross River 226”. We had randomly pulled into the south end of theBaca lagi
Whitehorse

Spent a few days in Whitehorse, camped at Marsh Lake. Did the tourist thing, Miles Canyon, Paddle Wheelers, Beringia museum. Shopping of course, last minute gear and food.
Renée is Off

Renée is finally on her way, all geared up, all hugged up. First day is Fox Lake, then Twin Lakes, then we meet back up at Tachun Creek north of Carmacks.

Carcross

After sending Renée off, we headed down to Skagway for the day, about 150km. The first stop was at Emerald Lake. I love how the emerald colour is in the shape of a heart.

The Road to Skagway

So the plan was to go to Skagway and spend the afternoon there. Along the way we ran into a small problem … The scenery was amazing!! The road had pullouts everywhere and boy did we use them. TheBaca lagi

Skagway is an interesting place. First off you descend over 1000 meters to the ocean. So you go from snow covered mountains where spring is just beginning to sea level and a lush summer experience.Baca lagi

Funny thing happened on the way back to Canada… We knew about “ArriveCAN” a phone app that you HAVE to use to get back into Canada. When we went over we turned off our phones so we would not getBaca lagi
Chores Day

Back in Whitehorse to get ready for the next leg of the trip. Laundry and a shower Aaaahhh! Even got a hot tub in. Groceries then hit the road to Lake Labarge.
Catching up to Renée

Woke up to a beautiful morning on Lake Labarge.
We caught up to Renée at the Carmacks visitor centre. This is the best hidden visitor centre, tucked around on a dead end street. Had lunch then setBaca lagi
Five Finger Rapids

Rest day today. Back to Five Finger Rapids for a better look. Took the stairs (200+), down to the rapids.
There is one bar of cell service on the first platform of the stairs. We manage to getBaca lagi
Wrong Lake

Wrong Lake is one of the many stocked lakes throughout the Yukon, like Fisheye Lake. Not an official campground but peaceful and quiet.
That is until Sam, Wes, Joe and the two Shane’s rolled in.Baca lagi
Mayo

Meeting up with Renée in Mayo, she wants to check out Keno, maybe do a hike up there.

Went for a nice morning walk around the lake at the campground.
Then off to Keno. Renée was told by the guy at Braeburn (remember the cinnamon buns) that Mike in Keno makes good pizza. UnfortunatelyBaca lagi
Off to Dawson City

This is leg three of Renée’s bike trip, Mayo to Dawson). So once again we said our goodbyes
The scenery is actually kind of uninteresting along that stretch of highway, so we didn’t stop much.Baca lagi
Top of the World

The Top of the World Highway winds along the a ridge of mountains from Dawson City into Alaska. You can see distant mountain ranges on both sides of the highway. The Ogilvie mountains on one side andBaca lagi

Took care of some chores today. Then up to Robert Service’s cabin where I did my recital of The Cremation of Sam McGee.

Resupply day. Also did a tour of the stern wheeler Keno. Dawson has a public claim on Bonanza Creek and the visitor centre lends out pans, so we went gold panning. We think we found some shiny stuff,Baca lagi

So while we were at The Top of The World, we saw a fellow biking like Renée. We stopped to talk to him and found out he too was going to bike the Dempster. We chatted for a bit then carried on. ThatBaca lagi
