    Cairns

    Deutsch:
    Als ich aufgewacht bin, hat es direkt angefangen zu regnen. Das hat mein Morgen nicht gerade erleichtert. Da ich nicht direkt das Zelt zusammenpacken konnte und frühstücken im Regen natürlich auch nicht. Besonders gemütlich ist als aufgehört hatte, habe ich einen Kaffee getrunken etwas gegessen und mein Auto umgeräumt, so dass es Regen fest ist und nichts nass wird was nicht nass werden darf. Als auch das geschafft war, bin ich losgefahren zu einem Parkplatz mitten im Dschungel und bin eine kleine Runde gewandert. Der Dschungel war wunderschön und es roch genau wie in einem Tropenhaus im Zoo. Danach bin ich noch mal ein paar Kilometer weiter gefahren, da ich einen Tipp bekommen habe, wo man Schnabeltier sehen kann. Leider hatte ich kein Glück. Es war aber trotzdem ein schöner Spaziergang am Fluss. Die restlichen Kilometer nach cairns war wunderschön zu fahren, da der komplette Weg durch den Dschungel führte das Erste, was mir dort aufgefallen ist, ist der billige Sprit 0,40$ billiger als im Outback. Das ist Wahnsinn. Den restlichen Tag habe ich mir cairns angeschaut, am Wasser gepicknickt und abends noch etwas getrunken. Alles in allem war das ein sehr schöner Tag. Das einzige Problem ist. Ich werde diese Nacht auf dem Parkplatz auf meiner Rückbank schlafen und morgen früh meinen Werkstatttermin wahrzunehmen.

    When I woke up, it started raining straight away. That didn't exactly make my morning any easier. I couldn't pack up the tent straight away and of course I couldn't have breakfast in the rain either. Once it had stopped, I had a coffee and something to eat and rearranged my car so that it was rainproof and nothing got wet that shouldn't get wet. Once that was done, I drove to a parking lot in the middle of the jungle and went for a short hike. The jungle was beautiful and it smelled just like a tropical house in a zoo. Afterwards, I drove a few more kilometers because I got a tip on where to see platypus. Unfortunately, I wasn't lucky. But it was still a nice walk along the river. The remaining kilometers to cairns were beautiful to drive, as the whole way led through the jungle. The first thing I noticed there was that the gas was $0.40 cheaper than in the outback. That's crazy. I spent the rest of the day looking around Cairns, picnicking by the water and having a drink in the evening. All in all, it was a very nice day. The only problem is. I'm going to sleep in my back seat in the parking lot that night and go to my workshop appointment tomorrow morning.    Read more

    Drunter und drüber

    Deutsch:
    Heute ging es etwas drunter und drüber. Morgens bin ich etwas Hangover aufgewacht und was soll ich sagen habe es natürlich direkt mal geschafft, mich aus meinem Auto auszusperren. Glücklicherweise war ein Fenster etwas offen, sodass ich mit einem Stock die entriegelung lösen konnte und kein ADAC rufen musste. Danach habe ich mich etwas gewaschen und für den Werkstatt Termin fertig gemacht. Leider hatte ich dort auch Pech 770 $ wird mich die Reparatur kosten, da man den halben Motor ausbauen muss. Nach dem Termin habe ich ein paar Sachen besorgt, die ich für mein Auto brauche, da ich mir eine Matratze auf meine Ladefläche bauen möchte, sodass ich auch problemlos am Stellen schlafen kann an denen ich das Dachzelt nicht aufbauen kann oder darf. Das hat zur Abwechslung mal wunderbar funktioniert. Für den Mittag habe ich tatsächlich einen wunderschönen Platz am Meergefunden nur leider waren dort wieder viele Sandfliegen und einige Aborigines (es kann gefährlich sein, dann dort zu campen). Deswegen hab ich dort nur einen Kaffee getrunken und bin dann weiter zu einem kostenlosen Campingplatz gefahren, der völlig überfüllt ist. Trotzdem auch mal schön andere Camper um sich zu haben. Heute wollte ich allerdings nur meine Ruhe und bin für mich geblieben. Gesagt getagt habe ich 12 Stunden geschlafen um mich etwas zu erholen.

    Things went a bit haywire today. I woke up in the morning with a bit of a hangover and of course I managed to lock myself out of my car. Fortunately, one of the windows was slightly open, so I was able to unlock it with a stick and didn't have to call ADAC. I then washed up a bit and got ready for the garage appointment. Unfortunately, I was also unlucky there - the repair would cost me 770 dollars, as half the engine had to be removed. After the appointment, I got a few things I needed for my car, as I wanted to put a mattress in the back so that I could stand on the spot without any problems and not set up my roof tent. That worked wonderfully for a change. I actually found a beautiful spot by the sea, but unfortunately there were lots of sand flies and some Aborigines (it can be dangerous to camp there). That's why I only had a coffee there and then drove on to a free campsite, which was completely overcrowded. Still, it's nice to have other campers around. I didn't do anything with them today. I went straight to bed and slept for 12 hours. Travel is more exhausting than you think.    Read more

    Neue Freunde

    Deutsch:
    Über den Tag ist heute nicht viel passiert. Ich habe mich ausgeruht und eine komplett neue Ordnung in mein Auto gebracht. Alle Sachen sind neu sortiert und jetzt in Kisten verstaut und ich habe ein Moskitonetz über meiner Matratze auf der Ladefläche. Da es langsam Zeit wird, dass ich mich um einen Job kümmere, habe ich mich auf verschiedenen Portalen umgesehen und ein paar Bewerbungen rausgeschickt. Am frühen Abend habe ich dann einen deutschen kennengelernt. Wir sind spontan mit ein paar Freunden von ihm nach cairns zum Feiern gefahren. Wir hatten einen lustigen Abend in einer tollen Bar und sind erst gegen 3 nachhause gekommen.

    Not much happened during the day today. I had a rest and completely reorganized my car. All my things have been reorganized and are now stored in boxes and I have a mosquito net over my mattress on the loading area. As it's about time I started looking for a job, I looked around on various job portals and sent out a few applications. In the early evening, I met a German guy.     Schöner tag am Wasserfall

    Deutsch:
    Nachdem wir gestern feiern waren hab ich es heute Morgen etwas ruhiger angehen lassen. Ich habe schön Kaffee getrunken und gefrühstückt mich gerichtet und bin danach mit den anderen nach cairns gefahren. Von da aus sind wir mit dem Rest unserer Gruppe an eine schöne Stelle mit Wasserfällen mitten im Jungen gefahren. ÜMega kalt!!! Wir waren baden, sind die Wasserfälle hoch geblättert( es gab extra Seile) und ich bin von einer ca 8-9m hohen Klippe gesprungen). Die Kulisse mitten im Jungle war natürlich atemberaubend. Gegen Abend saßen wir noch im Hostel zusammen haben gequetscht Karten gespielt und haben den nächsten Tag geplant.

    After partying yesterday, I took it a little easier this morning. I had a nice coffee and breakfast and then drove to Cairns with the others. From there, we drove with the rest of our group to a beautiful spot with waterfalls in the middle of the boy. Surprisingly, the water was mega cold!!! We went swimming, scrolled up the waterfalls (there were extra ropes) and I jumped off a cliff about 8-9m high). The scenery in the middle of the jungle was of course breathtaking.     Tropische insel

    Heute Morgen habe ich schweren Herzens mein Auto in die Werkstatt gebracht und musste danach 40 Minuten zum Fährhafen laufen, da ich mit ein paar Freunden auf eine Insel wollte um dort zu wandern und zu schnorcheln. Ich kam tatsächlich gerade noch rechtzeitig, so dass wir die Fähre noch bekommen haben. Als wir auf der Insel angekommen sind, haben wir erst mal nicht schlecht gestaunt der Dschungel und die Strände waren so wunderschön. Alles war umringt von türkisem Wasser und Ausläufern des Great Barrier Reef. Als erstes sind wir auf den einzigen Berg der Insel gewandert, haben die unglaubliche Aussicht genossen und zu Mittag gegessen. Für die komplette Wandertour haben wir ungefähr 2,5h gebraucht. Während der Wanderung habe ich auch endlich mal einen wilden Skink gesehen und natürlich sehr viele Eidechsen. Die restlichen 2 Stunden, die wir auf der Insel noch hatten, haben wir mit Schnorcheln am Strand liegen oder an der strandbar verbracht. Mein persönliches Highlight war das Schnorcheln in den tropischen Gewässern. Ich bin mit zwei Wasserschildkröten geschwommen, die eine war so zutraulich, dass ich sie sogar anfassen konnte. Ansonsten haben wir noch riesige Papageienfische gesehen, verschiedene Korallen bunte Fische und sogar zwei Stachelrochen. Das war wirklich eine unvergessliche Erfahrung und ich will unbedingt noch mal schnorcheln gehen hier in den Tropen. Am Abend haben wir alle zusammen im Hostel noch gekocht und sind bis um 3Uhr feiern gegangen.

    Als kleine neben Info, es gibt hier essbare Ameisen im Dschungel, die nach Zitrone schmecken

    This morning, with a heavy heart, I took my car to the garage and then had to walk 40 minutes to the ferry port because I wanted to go hiking and snorkeling on an island with some friends. I actually arrived just in time to catch the ferry. When we arrived on the island, we were amazed at how beautiful the jungle and the beaches were. Everything was surrounded by turquoise water and the foothills of the Great Barrier Reef. First, we hiked up the only mountain on the island, enjoyed the incredible view and had lunch. The entire hike took us about 2.5 hours. During the hike, I finally saw a wild skin and of course lots of lizards. We spent the remaining 2 hours we had on the island snorkeling on the beach or at the beach bar. My personal highlight was snorkeling in the tropical waters. I swam with two turtles, one of which was so trusting that I could even touch it. We also saw huge parrotfish, various corals, colorful fish and even two stingrays. It really was an unforgettable experience and I definitely want to go snorkeling again here in the tropics. In the evening we all cooked together in the hostel and partied until 3am.

    Turn Up

    Deutsch
    Heute Morgen ist ein Kumpel um ca 4:00 Uhr abgereist. Ich konnte dementsprechend nach dem feiern sein Bett benutzen, musste allerdings um 9 gehen da um diese Uhrzeit immer die Reinigung kommt und ich natürlich nicht eingebucht war. Gesagt getan bin ich dann 1 Stunde zu meinem Auto gelaufen, dass ja noch in der Werkstatt stand, hab bezahlt und bin zurück zum Campingplatz gefahren, um mich ein wenig auszuruhen. Am Nachmittag habe ich mit zwei Freunden Karten gespielt und mich gerichtet, da wir abends wieder feiern gegangen sind. Wir hatten wieder einen Mega lustigen und sehr sehr langen Abend. Jetzt reicht’s erst mal mit Feiern für mich.

    This morning a friend left at about 4:00 am. I was therefore able to use his bed after the party, but had to leave at 9 because the cleaners always come at this time and of course I wasn't booked in. Having said that, I walked for an hour to my car, which was still in the garage, paid and drove back to the campsite to get some rest. In the afternoon, I played cards with two friends and got ready because we were going out partying again in the evening. We had another mega fun and very, very long evening.     Ruhiger Tag

    Deutsch:
    Heute ist wirklich quasi nichts passiert. Ich habe gekocht etwas gegessen mich hinten auf meine Matratze gelegt, etwas gedöst. Dann habe ich noch einige Job Bewerbungen rausgeschickt für Farms und Ähnliches, viele Telefonate geführt und hoffe jetzt, dass da bald mal was positives bei rauskommt. Abends habe ich noch eine Serie gekuckt und bin um 8 ins Bett.

    Nothing really happened today. I cooked something, ate something, lay down on my mattress in the back and dozed a bit. Then I sent out some job applications for farms and the like, made lots of phone calls and hope that something positive will come out of it soon.     Treffen mit meiner Cousine

    Deutsch:
    Heute war wieder ein sehr geschäftiger Tag. Als Erstes bin ich in eine Waschanlage, um mein Auto zu putzen. Das wurde nach dem langen Trip wirklich Zeit. Im Anschluss bin ich noch einkaufen gefahren und habe mich dann mit zwei Freunden bei einer Farm getroffen, die leider sonntags geschlossen hatte, was wir nicht wussten und im Internet auch nicht ersichtlich war. Dennoch haben wir uns zusammengesetzt und einige Farmen angerufen und viele E-Mails verschickt. Die Jobsuche hier in Australien gestaltet sich schwieriger als ursprünglich gedacht.
    Gegen Abend habe ich mich mit Elena meiner lieben Cousine, die lustigerweise auch gerade in cairns ist auf einem Samba Festival getroffen. Wir haben getanzt und sind danach zur Afterparty zu einem Freund gefahren, bei dem ich auch übernachtet hab. Es war sehr schön Elena wiederzutreffen und ich denke, dass wir das in den nächsten Tagen noch mal wiederholen

    Today was another very busy day. First of all, I went to a car wash to clean my car. It was about time after the long trip. Afterwards I went shopping and then met up with two friends at a farm that was unfortunately closed on Sundays, which we didn't know and wasn't apparent on the internet. Nevertheless, we got together and called a few farms and sent lots of emails. Finding a job here in Australia is proving more difficult than originally thought.
    Towards the evening, I met up with Elena, my dear cousin who, funnily enough, is also in Cairns at a samba festival. We danced and then went to the after-party at a friend's house, where I was also staying. It was really nice to meet Elena again and I think we'll do it again in the next few days    Read more

    Job Day

    Deutsch:
    Heute habe ich wieder hauptsächlich nach einem Job gesucht. Als erstes bin ich aufgestanden und zu Meer gefahren. Hab mir dann einen schönen Platz gesucht, einen Kaffee getrunken und etwas gefrühstückt. Im Anschluss habe ich mich auf dem Weg zu einem Kaffee gemacht, in dass ich mich setzen kann. Von dort aus habe ich erst mal ein paar Bewerbungen geschrieben, bevor ich losgegangen bin und durch die ganze Stadt zu laufen und überall nach einem Job zu fragen. Positive Nachricht. Ich habe ein Probearbeiten bei einer Touristen Showagentur. Ich muss sagen ich würde mich auf den Job freuen. Gegen Abend habe ich mir dann einen Schlafplatz suchen müssen. Dann hab einen wunderschönen Stellplatz direkt am Strand gefunden, wo ich die Nacht verbringen werde. Heute Abend gab es zur Abwechslung mal eine Mega leckere Pasta.

    Today I was mainly looking for a job again. The first thing I did was get up and drive to the sea. Then I looked for a nice spot, had a coffee and some breakfast. Then I made my way to a coffee shop where I could sit down. From there, I wrote a few job applications before I went out and walked around the whole city asking everywhere for a job. Positive news. I got a trial job at a tourist show agency. I have to say I was looking forward to the job. Towards the evening I had to look for a place to sleep.     Hammerhai

    Deutsch:
    Mein Tag heute startet sehr entspannt mit einem Kaffee und Porridge direkt am Meer. Danach bin ich noch etwas mit meiner Drohne geflogen und hab schöne Aufnahmen von dem tropischen Strand direkt am Dschungel gemacht. Auf meinem Weg zurück zum Auto hat mich irgendetwas in meine Nase gestochen oder gebissen, was ziemlich weh tat. Erst hatte ich wirklich Schiss, dass es irgendetwas giftiges wäre. Hab dann aber zum Glück gesehen, dass neben meinem Kopf ein kleines Wespennest ist mit australisches Wespen hing. Mein Plan war es zu einem schönen Steg zu fahren und etwas zu angeln. Das hab ich auch eine Weile gemacht, konnte aber leider nichts fangen. Ein anderer Angler hatte mehr Glück und hatte einen größeren Fisch dran, mit dem er gekämpft  ihn aber leider kurz vor dem Jetty verloren. Danach bin ich meine Sachen in der Stadt waschen gegangen und habe mich wieder mit Elena getroffen. Als sie zum Yoga musste, bin ich zurück an meinen Strand gefahren, hab mein Auto für die Nacht fertig gemacht gegessen und bin Angel gegangen. Ich hatte wieder Mega Glück und konnte einen kleinen Hammerhai fangen. Die sind tatsächlich ziemlich selten.

    My day today started very relaxed with a coffee and porridge right by the sea. Afterwards, I flew a bit with my drone and took some lovely shots of the tropical beach right next to the jungle. On my way back to the car, something stung or bit my nose, which hurt a lot. At first I was really scared that it was something poisonous. Luckily, I then realised that there was a small wasp nest with Australian wasps next to my head. My plan was to drive to a nice jetty and do some fishing. I did that for a while, but unfortunately couldn't catch anything. Another angler was luckier and had a bigger fish, which he fought with but unfortunately lost just before the jetty. Afterwards, I went to wash my clothes in town and met up with Elena again. When she had to go to yoga, I drove back to my beach, got my car ready for the night, ate and went fishing. I was super lucky again and managed to catch a small hammerhead shark. They are actually quite rare.    Read more

    Probearbeiten

    Deutsch:
    Als Erstes gab es ein Frühstück am wunderschönen Strand in Elis Beach. Danach ging es für mich zum Probearbeiten in einer Touri-Tour Booking Firma. Ich war dafür zuständig an der Tür Leute anzusprechen und quasi anzuwerben. Sie sollten nach einem Gespräch mit mir in den Laden gelotst werden, wo sie von den anderen Mitarbeitern übernommen werden, die sie über die Aktivitäten hier beraten. Ich muss sagen, der Job gefällt mir gut, da ich viel Kontakt zu anderen Leuten habe und meine Englischkenntnisse verbessern kann. Das Probearbeiten ging ungefähr Stunden 1,5h bin ich noch etwas durch die Stadt gelaufen und bin danach zu einem Jetty Angeln gefahren. Einige andere waren auch erfolgreich, ich hatte leider kein Glück. Aus diesem Grund bin ich weiter zu meinem Camping Spot gefahren.
    , hab mein Zelt aufgebaut und bin direkt an den Strand um weiter zu Angeln. Jetzt hat auch ich Glück. Ich konnte drei Haie fangen 1 Hammerhai und 2 Riffhaie.

    First, I had breakfast on the beautiful beach in Elis Beach. After that, I went for a trial run at a tour-tour booking company. I was responsible for approaching people at the door and recruiting them, so to speak.     Erster Tag auf der Farm

    Deutsch:
    Heute war der anstrengendste Tag bisher in Australien. Nach dem Aufstehen gab es Porridge mit frischer Mango und natürlich Kaffee. Als ich fertig war, musste ich mich beeilen, dass ich pünktlich loskomme, um zur Lemon Farm zu kommen. Dort angekommen sind, ging es auch schon los. Wir sind zusammen auf einen Traktor Anhänger gestiegen und in die Felder rausgefahren und haben viereinhalb Stunden Lemons gepflückt, was in der prallen Sonne wirklich anstrengend ist. Jetzt hoffe ich noch mehr, dass ich den Job in der Turi Information bekomme, denn wir hatten gestern nur den halben Tag gearbeitet und ich war am Abend völlig platt. Als ich dann wieder an meinem Stehplatz am Meer angekommen bin habe ich mir Pasta gekocht, ein Glas Wein gegönnt und bin danach direkt ins Bett.

    Today was the most exhausting day so far in Australia. After getting up, I had porridge with fresh mango and, of course, coffee. When I was ready, I had to hurry to make sure I left on time to get to Lemon Farm. When we got there, we set off. We got on a tractor trailer together and drove out into the fields and picked lemons for four and a half hours, which is really exhausting in the blazing sun. Now I'm hoping even more that I'll get the job at Turi Information, because we only worked half the day yesterday and I was completely exhausted in the evening.     Ellis Beach

    Deutsch:
    Mein Tag startete wie immer mit einem leckeren Frühstück als Nächstes in die Stadt, um mir einige Sachen zu kaufen. Ich habe mir zwei Hemden ein Pulli und zwei Arbeitsshirts gekauft. Danach hab ich noch mal kurz bei der Touristeninformation vorbeigeguckt, um einfach Interesse am Job zu zeigen. Als das erledigt war, hatte ich einen Termin beim Autoschrauber um mein Reifen wechseln zu lassen. Da gab es leider schlechte Neuigkeiten, ich muss die hinteren beiden jetzt wechseln und die vorderen beiden werden auch bald erneuert werden müssen. Nichtsdestotrotz waren die zwei junges beide sehr nett und lustigerweise aus Stuttgart. Danach bin ich zum Mittagessen in die Stadt gegangen. Nachmittag habe ich mich mit zwei Freunden in einem Hostel getroffen, da es dort eine happy Hour gibt, bedeutet fünf Dollar pro Liter Bier, dort haben wir uns ein Bier geteilt und danach bin ich Angeln gefahren. Heute konnte ich wieder drei Haie fangen, was mich natürlich sehr gefreut hat

    My day started as usual with a delicious breakfast. Next, I went into town to buy a few things. I bought two shirts, a sweater and two work shirts. After that, I popped into the tourist information office to show my interest in the job. Once that was done, I had an appointment with a car mechanic to have my tires changed. Unfortunately, there was bad news: I now have to change the two rear tires and the front two will also have to be replaced soon. Nevertheless, the two young guys were both very nice and, funnily enough, from Stuttgart. Afterwards I went into town for lunch. In the afternoon I met up with two friends in a hostel, as there is a happy hour there, which means five dollars a liter of beer, we shared a beer there and then I went fishing.     Halloween party

    Heute habe ich wie auch die letzten Tage einige Bewerbungen rausgeschickt. Ich bin zu den ganzen Touristen Informationen am Hafen gegangen und hat mir von diesen die Bewerbungs E-Mails geholt. Danach gab es schön Kaffee am Strand und ich habe ein bisschen die Ruhe genossen. Direkt danach habe ich mich mal wieder richtig fertig gemacht. Ich habe mich rasiert, meine Haare geschnitten und meine ganzen Sachen gewaschen. Als auch das erledigt war, habe ich noch ein Bier am Strand getrunken und bin dann auf die Suche nach einem billigen Hostel für die Nacht gegangen, da wir geplant hatten auf eine Halloween Party zu gehen. Ich bin ich auch fündig geworden, habe dort dann noch gekocht und dann sind wir auch schon los.

    Erster Regen

    Deutsch:
    Heute Morgen war ich erst mal noch ein bisschen verkatert, dennoch bin ich aufgestanden habe mich geduscht und bin aus dem Hostel ausgecheckt und habe mir erst mal etwas zu essen geholt. Danach bin ich über den cairns Markt gelaufen. Das war tatsächlich sehr interessant. Es gab viel Streetfood, Ketten, Massagen, Früchte, Brot,säfte und Kunst. Im Anschluss bin ich wie gewohnt wieder in die Stadt und habe mich etwas nach Jobs umgesehen. Ich hoffe wirklich, dass ich noch etwas anderes finde damit ich nicht auf der Farm arbeiten muss. Ich bin dann gegen Nachmittag noch mal zum Angeln gefahren. Leider war der Wind so stark an der Küste, dass es quasi nicht möglich war, meine Angel auszuwerfen, da heute das Wetter etwas schlechter war. Eine Welle hat mich auch total erwischt und ich war klatschnass, was nicht so schlimm ist, da es trotzdem sehr warm ist. Ich habe mir dann trotzdem eine Weile die Wellen angeguckt und bin dann weiter zu meinem gewohnten Schlafplatz gefahren. Habe mein Zelt aufgebaut und einen längeren Strandspaziergang gemacht. Als es dann dunkel wurde, habe ich noch ein bisschen YouTube geguckt und bin dann früh ins Bett. Während der Nacht hat es dann auf einmal auch angefangen zu regnen. Jetzt muss ich morgen gucken, dass ich mein Zelt irgendwie trocken bekomme, bevor ich wieder weiter fahr.

    This morning I was still a bit hungover, but I got up, had a shower, checked out of the hostel and grabbed something to eat. Then I walked around the Cairns market. It was actually very interesting. There was lots of street food, chains, massages, fruit, bread, juices and art. Afterwards, I went back into the city as usual and looked around for jobs. I really hope that I can find something else so that I don't have to work on the farm. I went fishing again in the afternoon. Unfortunately, the wind was so strong on the coast that it was practically impossible to cast my line as the weather was a bit worse today. A wave also caught me completely and I was soaking wet, which isn't so bad as it's still very warm. I watched the waves for a while anyway and then drove on to my usual sleeping spot. I put up my tent and went for a long walk on the beach. When it got dark, I watched a bit of YouTube and then went to bed early. During the night, it suddenly started to rain.     Schlechtes Wetter

    Heute war das Wetter relativ schlecht. Morgens hat es noch mal geregnet und ich musste warten, dass mein Zelt etwas trocknet, bevor ich es zusammen falte. In der Zeit habe ich gefrühstückt Kaffee getrunken und ein zwei Bewerbungen rausgeschickt. Danach bin ich in die Stadt gefahren, um einzukaufen und noch mal nach einem Job zu suchen, da das, wie gesagt, hier in cairns durch die vielen Backpacker wirklich schwierig ist. Als ich damit fertig war, bin ich noch in eine wunderschöne Beachbar gegangen und auf den Nachtmarkt der irgendwie schon früher anfängt also nicht nur nachts stattfindet. Dort habe ich ein paar Spieße gegessen mit Garnelen, Zucchini und Hühnchen. Die waren wirklich, wirklich lecker. Am Abend habe ich dann noch etwas geangelt konnte aber diesmal leider nicht zwangen. Ich denke da die Wellen zu hoch waren. Zum Abendessen habe ich mir eine Pasta mit frisch gekauftem Fisch gekocht.

In the meantime, I had breakfast, coffee and sent out two job applications. Then I went into town to do some shopping and look for a job again because, as I said, it's really difficult here in Cairns with all the backpackers. When I was done with that, I went to a beautiful beach bar and to the night market, which somehow starts earlier and doesn't just take place at night.     Letzter Tag der Arbeitssuche

    Deutsch:
    Heute war der letzte Tag, an dem ich mich ausschließlich um Jobs gekümmert habe. Morgens muss ich erst mal mein Zelt noch etwas nass zusammenpacken da es wieder nachts geregnet hatte. Die nächsten Tage sollen aber wieder super Wetter werden. Dementsprechend tut es der Sache überhaupt kein Dämpfer. In cairns angekommen habe ich mich dann für eine ganze Weile in ein Café gesetzt und habe eines der besten belegten Brötchen gegessen, die ich jemals hatte. Ich habe dort dann etwas an meinen Bewerbungen gefeilt und meine RAS (das ist eine Lizenz zum Ausschenken von Alkohol in Australien) gemacht. Als das Café schließt wollte, bin ich in die Stadt gegangen, um einzukaufen und war noch etwas bummeln. Im Anschluss bin ich noch zu einem Camping Store gefahren, um mich über Möglichkeiten der Zeltimprägnierung zu informieren. Als ich auch das erledigt hatte wollte ich eigentlich ganz gerne Angeln gehen, nur leider war der Seegang noch etwas zu unruhig um Köderfische zu fangen. Also bin ich an meinen Schlafplatz am Strand gefahren. Dort habe ich einen kleinen Spaziergang gemacht und ein leckeres Reis Curry mit Hühnchen Mais und etwas Parmesan gekocht.

    Today was the last day on which I spent exclusively on jobs. In the morning I had to pack up my tent a bit wet as it had rained again during the night. But the next few days should be great weather again. So it doesn't put a damper on things at all. When I arrived in Cairns, I sat down in a café for a while and ate one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I then did some work on my applications and got my RAS (which is a license to serve alcohol in Australia). When the café was about to close, I went into town to do some shopping and stroll around. Afterwards, I went to a camping store to find out about tent waterproofing options. Once I'd done that too, I really wanted to go fishing, but unfortunately the swell was still a bit too rough to catch bait fish. So I drove to my sleeping place on the beach.     Port Duglas

    Deutsch:
    Ich hatte einen wunderschönen Tag in Port Douglas. Mein Tag startete mit einem sehr entspannten Frühstück am Strand und eine ausgedehnte Ruhephase bis zum Vormittag, da ich mein Solarpanel in die Sonne legen musste, um meine Power Bank zu laden. In dieser Zeit habe ich wunderschöne Vögel fotografieren können ein paar Bilder, die in nur mit dem Handy geschossen habe, packe ich schon mal in den Anhang. Außerdem habe ich eine Babygottesanbeterin gefunden. Gegen Vormittag bin ich dann die 40min nach port Duglas gefahren. Das Wetter war übrigens auch wieder deutlich besser als die letzten Tage. Als ich angekommen bin, habe ich mir erst mal einen Aussichtspunkt gesucht, um mir einen schönen Überblick über die ganze Region zu verschaffen. Die Aussicht war schön, aber auch nicht überwältigend muss ich dazu sagen. Danach habe ich mein Auto in der Nähe des Hafens abgestellt und bin erst mal eine Runde Spinnfischen gegangen. Ich hab zwar ein paar Fische gesehen, konnte aber leider keinen fangen. Danach gab’s erst mal Mittagessen und im Anschluss ein Bier in einer wunderschönen Strandbar mit einem tollen Blick auf die Bucht. Von ein paar einheimischen habe ich gehört, dass es im Stadtpark sehr gut sein soll auf größere Haie zu angeln. Das habe ich den restlichen Tag versucht, konnte aber leider keinen fangen aber ich bin mir sicher, dass ich das noch mal probieren werde.

    I had a wonderful day in Port Douglas. My day started with a very relaxed breakfast on the beach and an extended rest period until mid-morning, as I had to put my solar panel in the sun to charge my power bank. During this time, I was able to photograph some beautiful birds - I've included a few pictures that I only took with my cell phone in the appendix. I also found a baby praying mantis. Around mid-morning I drove the 40 minutes to port Duglas. The weather was also much better than the last few days. When I arrived, I first looked for a viewpoint to get a good overview of the whole region. The view was nice, but not overwhelming, I have to say. I then parked my car near the harbor and went spin fishing. I did see a few fish, but unfortunately I couldn't catch any. Afterwards, I had lunch and then a beer in a beautiful beach bar with a great view of the bay. I heard from a few locals that fishing for larger sharks in the city park is supposed to be very good. I tried that for the rest of the day, but unfortunately I couldn't catch any, but I'm sure I'll try it again.    Read more

    Heute hatte ich wieder einen wirklich tollen Tag. Wie immer habe ich mit einem Kaffee gestartet danach bin ich in den jungle wandern gegangen. Dabei habe ich verschiedene Vögel gesehen Schmetterlinge und auch wieder einen Varan, den ich tatsächlich relativ lange beobachten konnte. Irgendwann bin ich dann zu einem sehr schönen Aussichtspunkt gekommen. Dort habe ich ausgeruht und etwas gegessen. Ich bin am Ende noch durch ein Villenviertel gelaufen das war wirklich beeindruckend. Diese schönen Häuser inmitten der ganzen Dschungel pflanzen war schon echt toll zu sehen als ich wieder zurück beim Auto war bin ich Angeln gefahren. Das habe ich relativ lange probiert. Konnte heute aber leider nichts fangen. Am Abend habe ich dann noch einen Film gekuckt und bin früh ins Bett, da ich am nächsten Tag zur Farm muss.

    Collins wire

    Deutsch:
    Heute ist mal wieder eine Menge passiert. Ich habe erst mal etwas länger geschlafen. Bis ca um 8. Danach gab’s wie immer leckeres Porridge mit Honig, Banane und der Kaffee darf natürlich auch nicht fehlen. Nach dem Frühstück bin ich los auf einen kleinen Spaziergang in die Hügel, mein Ziel war es ein paar Tiere zu fotografieren zu finden und zu fotografieren. Leider hatte ich kein Glück. Danach bin ich mit der Angelrute auch noch mal losgezogen, dieses Mal Fluss abwärts um vielleicht ein, zwei Fische zu fangen. Dieses Mal hatte ich tatsächlich mehr Glück und konnte beim Spinnen einen fangen. Ich hab ehrlicherweise keine Ahnung, was es für ein Fisch ist aber er sah echt schön und exotisch aus. Ich häng euch ein Bild an. Als ich auch von dieser Tour zurückgekommen bin, musste ich erst mal einen kleinen Mittagsschlaf machen da ich die Nacht davor immer wieder aufgewacht bin. Ich habe also ca 1 Stunde geschlafen und danach noch mal einen Kaffee getrunken. im Anschluss bin ich dann Holz sammeln gegangen, da ich am Abend gerne wieder ein Feuer machen würde. Dannach hat mich mal wider der sportdrang gepackt und ich bin noch eine Runde joggen gegangen. Gegen Ende habe ich mich noch von meiner Drohne filmen lassen und dabei kam es zum ersten Crash. Sie hat zwar wären sie mir gefolgt ist tolle Aufnahmen gemacht, doch ist auf einmal in einen Baum geflogen. Gott sei Dank ist nicht allzu viel passiert, nur zwei Rotorblätter sind beschädigt. Nach dem Joggen habe ich noch ein paar Liegestütze etc. gemacht und mich danach während das Abendlicht einsetzt im see gewaschen. Genau für diese Momente geh ich campen. Am Abend saß ich am Feuer, habe die grillen genossen oder meine Serie geschaut. um auch bei mir den November einzuleiten, habe ich mir Glühwein gemacht(Weißwein mit Orangensaft erhitzt) und zum Essen gab es Kürbissuppe. Auch wenn es bei mir natürlich warm ist, mag ich den Herbst und hole ihn damit auch nach Australien. Dieses Wochenende habe ich die Abstinenz von Internet und Handy Empfang sehr genossen.
    Morgen geht es los, ich werde den ersten Tag auf der Farm arbeiten.

    A lot happened again today. I slept a little longer first. Then, as always, I had delicious porridge with honey and banana and, of course, coffee. After breakfast I went for a little walk in the hills, my aim was to find and photograph a few animals. Unfortunately, I had no luck. Afterwards I set off again with the fishing rod, this time downstream to maybe catch a fish or two. This time I actually had more luck and managed to catch one while spinning. I honestly have no idea what kind of fish it is but it looked really nice and exotic. I'll attach a picture for you. When I came back from this tour, I had to take a little nap because I kept waking up the night before. So I slept for about an hour and then had another coffee. Afterwards I went to collect wood, as I would like to make another fire in the evening. After that, I got the urge to exercise again and went for a jog. Towards the end, I let my drone film me and that's when I had my first crash. It took some great shots as it followed me, but suddenly flew into a tree. Thank goodness not too much happened, only two rotor blades were damaged. After jogging, I did a few push-ups etc. and then washed myself in the lake as the evening light set in. I go camping just for these moments. In the evening, I sat by the fire, enjoyed the barbecue or watched my series. To usher in November, I made myself some mulled wine (white wine heated with orange juice) and had pumpkin soup for dinner. Even though it's naturally warm where I live, I like autumn and am bringing it to Australia. This weekend I really enjoyed being away from the internet and cell phone reception.

    Granite creek

    November 3, 2024 in Australia ☀️ 24 °C

    Deutsch:
    Heute Morgen bin ich mit einer wunderschönen Aussicht über den See aufgewacht. Als Erstes gab’s natürlich Kaffee mit Porridge danach habe ich noch etwas die Aussicht genossen und bin dann einfach mal drauf losgefahren. Irgendwann habe ich einen kleinen schönen Park gefunden, in dem ich eine Weile spazieren gegangen bin. Ich konnte tolle Bilder machen und habe sehr zutrauliche wallabys getroffen. Ich bin dann noch etwas länger in dem Park geblieben, bin in einem der Billabongs geschwommen und habe gepicknickt. Dort habe ich eigentlich den Großteil meines Tages verbracht. Danach bin ich einkaufen gegangen. Dummerweise hatte kein Laden mehr Gas Kartuschen für meinen Kocher. Also habe ich einen wildfremden Australier gefragt, ob er weiß, wo man sonntags hier Gas Kartuschen kaufen kann. Er meinte, er wüsste nichts, aber er hätte noch welche zu Hause und könnte mir in 10 Minuten welche vorbeibringen. Die Leute hier sind einfach so nett, ich bin froh, dass ich ihn getroffen hab. Danach bin ich zur Farm gefahren, habe mein Zelt aufgebaut, Wäsche gewaschen und bin erst mal angekommen. Morgen ist der erste Arbeitstag. Ich bin gespannt wie es wird.

    This morning I woke up to a beautiful view over the lake. First, of course, I had coffee with porridge, then I enjoyed the view for a while and just went for a drive. At some point I found a lovely little park where I went for a walk. I was able to take some great pictures and met some very trusting wallabies. I then stayed in the park a little longer, swam in one of the billabongs and had a picnic. I actually spent most of my day there. Then I went shopping. Unfortunately, no store had any more gas cartridges for my stove. So I asked a complete stranger from Australia if he knew where I could buy gas cartridges here on Sundays. He said he didn't know anything, but he still had some at home and could bring me some in 10 minutes. The people here are just so nice, I'm glad I met him.     Erster tag auf der neuen Farm

    Deutsch:
    Heute war mein erster Tag auf der Farm. Die ersten viereinhalb Stunden ging relativ gut rum. Es ist anstrengend in der Sonne, die die körperliche Arbeit zu verrichten, aber die Zeit geht gut um da man Podcast hören kann. Die zweite Hälfte war schon deutlich anstrengender, aber auch das habe ich ganz gut rumbekommen. Während der Arbeit habe ich sogar noch eine Gottesanbeterin finden können. Das einzige Problem an der Arbeit ist, dass ich mich mit meinem Chef nicht wirklich verstehe. Er ist sehr sehr unfreundlich zu seinen Arbeitern und das lass ich ungern einfach so stehen. Gegen Abend habe ich mich entspannt vor mein Auto gesetzt und noch einen Film geschaut, um mich etwas zu entspannen und bin dann total müde ins Bett gefallen. Was man auch noch dazu sagen muss, ist, dass die Farbe sehr dreckig ist. Mein Auto muss bei den Baracken der anderen Arbeiter stehen und dort liegt alles voll mit Müll. Ich habe einen großen Müllsack voll gesammelt nur um mein Auto rum als ich dann in die Küche gegangen bin sehe ich erst ein Huhn rumlaufen, und als ich näher gekommen bin, sprang eine Katze, die wohl Waschbecken geschlafen hat, auf und rannte weg. Mir ist jetzt schon klar, dass ich diese Küche nicht benutzen werde.

    Today was my first day on the farm. The first four and a half hours went relatively well. It's exhausting to do the physical work in the sun, but the time passes well because you can listen to the podcast. The second half was much more strenuous, but I got through that quite well too. I even managed to find a praying mantis while I was working. The only problem with the work is that I don't really get on with my boss. He is very, very unfriendly to his workers and I don't like to leave it like that. Towards the evening, I sat down in front of my car and watched a movie to relax a bit and then fell into bed totally tired. Another thing that has to be said is that the paint is very dirty. My car has to park next to the other workers' shacks and there's garbage all over the place. I collected a big bag of garbage just around my car and when I went into the kitchen I saw a chicken running around, and when I got closer a cat, which must have been sleeping in the sink, jumped up and ran away.     Flucht von der Farm

    Heute war ein sehr turbulenter Tag. Als ich aufgewacht bin, sehe ich auf meinem Zelt den eindeutigen Schatten einer großen Spinne. So startete mein Tag. Danach habe ich aus den genannten Gründen und ein paar mehr die Farm am Morgen verlassen. Also bin ich ins Städtchen gefahren, habe dort einige Bewerbungen verteilt und einen der besten Käufe bisher in Australien getätigt. Ich habe mir eine 120 l Box gekauft. Dort sind jetzt alle meine Klamotten sehr übersichtlich verstaut. Das ist deutlich einfacher als die Tasche immer rauszunehmen, wenn ich eine neue Klamotte brauch. im Anschluss bin ich noch ins gym gegangen und hab mal wieder etwas Sport gemacht. Ich muss sagen dass das wirklich sehr gut getan hat! Danach gab es für mich einen Kaffee und einen meat Pie und ich hab meine Ausschanklizenz für Alkohol in Queensland fertig gestellt, da mir das deutlich mehr Jobs ermöglicht. Jetzt ging es um die Wahl des Schlafplätze bei dem ich heute Nacht schlafen möchte. Ich habe mich dazu entschieden, auf einem Campingplatz in der Nähe des Wanderpfad, von letzter Woche zu gehen, da ich weiß, dass dieser sehr billig ist und wenn ich zu den Zeiten komme und gehe, an denen die Rezeption nicht besetzt ist sogar kosten;)
    Gesagt getan, bin ich an diesen Platz gefahren, bin eine Runde schwimmen gegangen um mich abzukühlen und hab dann mein Zelt aufgebaut. Ich konnte hier einige Cocabarras aus nächster Nähe sehen, verschiedene andere Vögel, einen australischen Igel und natürlich die Kängurus. Ich muss sagen, dass dieser Platz wunderschön ist und ich hier gerne wieder herkommen werde

    Today was a very turbulent day. When I woke up, I saw the distinct shadow of a large spider on my tent. That's how my day started. I then left the farm in the morning for the reasons mentioned and a few more. So I drove into town, handed out some applications and made one of the best purchases in Australia so far. I bought a 120 liter box. All my clothes are now neatly stored there. It's much easier than taking the bag out every time I need a new set of clothes. Afterwards I went to the gym and did some sport again. I have to say that it was really good for me!     No sooner said than done, I drove to this place, went for a swim to cool off and then set up my tent. I was able to see some coca barras up close, various other birds, an Australian hedgehog and of course the kangaroos.     Entspannter Tag am Fluss

    Heute habe ich mal ein richtig chilligen Tag gemacht. Ich habe erst schön gefrühstückt und einen Kaffee getrunken. Bin dann eine Runde schwimmen gegangen und hab danach mal wieder die Haare geschnitten. Im Anschluss bin ich los um ein paar Vögel zu fotografieren. Ich könnte einige Wellensittiche und einen kookaburra fotografieren. Nach meiner Fototour habe ich mir Mittagessen gekocht. Es gab Pasta mit Speck, Zwiebeln, Tomatensoße und Gewürzen. Nachdem Mittagessen war ich so müde, dass ich mich erst mal in die Hängematte gelegt habe und ein Stündchen geschlafen hab. Als ich wieder aufgewacht bin gab’s noch mal einen Kaffee und ich hab mich auf die Suche nach Feuerholz gemacht, da ich am Abend gerne ein Lagerfeuer machen wollte. Dann, bin ich noch mal schwimmen gegangen und bin danach auf einen Baum geklettert, um ein Bier zu trinken Von dort habe ich die schöne Aussicht und den Sonnenuntergang genossen. mit den letzten Sonnenstrahlen habe ich auch noch einen etwas größeren Süßwasserfisch fangen können. Ich hab ihn nicht gegessen weil er wohl nicht gut schmecken soll hat mich aber trotzdem gefreut. Als die Sonne untergegangen war habe ich mein Feuer entzündet. Den restlichen Abend habe ich mein Hörbuch gehört und ein bisschen Wein getrunken da es was zu feiern gab, ich habe den Job in Cairns. Während ich am Feuer saß, krabbelt auf einmal eine Hand große Spinne einfach so auf einen Fuß. Ich bin ziemlich erschrocken hab aber noch ein Video gemacht das werde ich euch anhängen.

    Today I had a really chilled day. I first had a nice breakfast and a coffee. Then I went for a swim and had my hair cut again. Afterwards I went out to photograph some birds. I managed to photograph some budgerigars and a kookaburra. After my photo tour, I cooked myself lunch. I had pasta with bacon, onions, tomato sauce and spices. After lunch I was so tired that I lay down in the hammock and slept for an hour. When I woke up again, I had another coffee and went in search of firewood, as I wanted to make a campfire in the evening. Then I went for another swim and afterwards climbed a tree to have a beer. From there I enjoyed the beautiful view and the sunset. With the last rays of sunshine I also managed to catch a slightly larger freshwater fish. I didn't eat it because it wasn't supposed to taste good, but I was still pleased. When the sun went down, I lit my fire. The rest of the evening I listened to my audiobook and drank some wine as I had something to celebrate, I have the job in Cairns. While I was sitting by the fire, a hand-sized spider suddenly crawled onto my foot. I was pretty scared, but I made a video that I'll attach for you.    Read more
