  • Quick explore in Antalya for my layover

    11 февраля 2024 г., Турция ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

Our flight to Krakow had a layover in Antalya from 12am to 7am so I had enough time for a quick look around. Spencer decided he wanted to keep a couple extra schengen days so he and ozge were staying which meant they hired a car and we could drive around. Antalya seems like a super wicked spot! It has big mountain ranges and it's on the coast so you can go for a swim at the beach and then go skiing in the same day. We went to a waterfall first, it was huge and super ferocious and lit with a huge spotlight and decorated with hundreds of flickering fairy lights which looked so cool in the waterfall mist. There were some really nice stray dogs at the waterfall that I got to play with for a bit too. Next we went and checked out the touristy old town area of antalya which was next to the ocean and surrounded by an ancient fortress wall made in the 2nd century. I think the bay in the old town mustve been a popular old port for pirates back in the day because a lot of the tour boats in the port were pirate themed. There were lots of pubs in the old town and people were cheering, singing and stumbling around the street all drunk which gave the place a nice pirate vibe, like Tortuga from pirates of the Caribbean. The water was super clear, I could see the bottom of the ocean perfectly. I can only imagine how great the scene would've looked during the day with the crystal clear water, the old style wooden pirate boats and the ancient port fortress, the idea of seeing that almost made me stay. Lastly we got some beers and had a quick drink at another beach. It was next to a long Scarborough type foreshore with loads of restaurants and public basketball courts n stuff. It would be a cool place to hang during the day I'm sure.
The taste I got of antalya was awesome and apparently the coast is littered with shipwrecks and fallen planes you can snorkel. I can't wait to go back!

Got to krakow, had an awesome burrata pasta and a focaccia and then had a 16 hour sleep!

We also hung out with the Turkish dudes from dinner again during the day before we left kayseri. We went to a gaming place to play ps4 and a Turkish rummikub place where they provide the rummikub set and then just sell you cordial. Idk how they make a living from that but it was cool.

  • A culmination of two weeks in krakow

    24 февраля 2024 г., Польша ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

The last two weeks have been quiet but really good :) After a pretty full on time in Turkey we've been mostly chilling out at home working on a new batch of beats.
Spencer arrived on the Saturday of our first weekend so we went to a bar crawl. This one was completely filled with people from England. We spent most of the night with a group of blokes who were here for a bucks party trip. They were pretty rowdy and the way they talked was hilarious, I mustve been called a daft cunt like 1000 times lol.
Fast forward about a week, we went on a big explore day to get some photos. We're staying near the old town where the streets are lined with awesome looking buildings all coloured with muted pastel pinks, yellows, oranges and greens. The architecture here is similar to the rest of Europe but a little less grand which I kinda prefer, like less going on with the window sills n stuff. We spent hours roaming through the pretty streets and checking out the wawel castle before eventually stumbling upon a really cool Cafe where we stopped to have a beer. The Cafe's walls were lined with bookshelves and they had the comfiest sofa chairs for us to sit in. The beer we got was caramel flavour and came with whipped cream on top, they called it beer but I think it was really just a warm caramel milkshake with vodka in it. Either way it was delicious! The Cafe also provided chess boards so we ended up staying for a fair while playing chess and relaxing in the cozy room.
Last night we went to a pool hall. The place had such a good atmosphere (usually pool halls suck imo) and it was huge with so many different areas that were all filled with tables. We left at about 1am and then tried to go out but disappointingly all the 24/7 corner stores stop selling alcohol after 12 so we ended up just going home.

All in all krakow has left a great impression! I've been starting to go running in the mornings and have found all the streets and different areas really delightful to be in. There haven't been any homeless people or people asking for money which has been great to see because that stuff has been rampant in most of the other places we've been to. Its been grey skies literally the entire time ive been here but it was sunny this morning so I got to experience a taste of krakows summer potential while I went for a run, it was splendid. Even though we haven't done a heap here and there isn't as much to do as a lot of the other places ive had a lovely time. There's something about poland which feels very safe and homely, I like it.

  • Salt mine

    26 февраля 2024 г., Польша ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

Spencers aunty has a friend who lives in krakow and today he took us to see the salt mine. We considered going ourselves but the tours were expensive so we were going to miss it. I'm so happy we didn't because it was awesome. The mine has been around since the 13th century and goes 150m deep. I was staggered by how far the tunnels went and how big some of the underground rooms were. Theres a full scale church that was built in the mine that is so big it's now used as an opera theatre and for other big events. The guy we came with said he once had a work conference in the mine that had 500 people attend. All the walls are pure salt, the tour guide said we could test it by licking, I tried and it tasted pretty good but quite dusty ahaha. The whole way through there were loads of sculptures and interactive exhibits, my favourite was a carving of some miners whose job it was to crawl around carrying long burning sticks so they could ignite trapped methane bubbles before the others came. I thought that it seemed like a pretty fun job lol.Читать далее

  • Tram 28 pt1

    27 февраля 2024 г., Португалия ⋅ 🌬 13 °C

I'm almost out of schengen days so this week I'm traveling how people normally do and going to a bunch of places really quickly, starting with lisbon. Im only here for two days so landed and got straight into it. There's a really popular tram here (no. 28) that goes through all the major tourist areas of lisbon. The route is about 7 kms long so I decided I'd follow it on foot so I could see everything but also stop and check stuff out if I wanted. Right at the start of the route I found a bakery and stopped for breakfast. I got a Portuguese custard tart and a weird lemon custard jelly cake thing which were both super tasty. Once I started walking, the first thing caught my attention was that a bunch of the buildings here are decorated with floor tiles, like from top to bottom completely covered. I don't think I've ever seen that before and thought it was super awesome. I think the thing that makes the tile buildings so cool is that each tile has an intricate pattern on it but when so many of them are layed out like that over an entire house they merge a bit in your brain which makes the building look like its made from a weird fuzzy texture that changes as you get closer. The tile  houses are also way smoother and shinier than normal houses which is pretty cool. It only took about 20 minutes of exploring for me to realise that lisbon might be the most interesting looking city I've ever seen. I mustve taken about 1000 photos and they were all just aesthetic pics of random streets and buildings. There were a bunch of times where I would resist taking a picture because it was getting a bit ridiculous but then I would walk 50metres, feel really guilty and then run back to get a quick snap. After threading my way through a few kms of urban awesomeness I eventually reached the commerce square which is right on the foreshore. The square itself was pretty standard but the buskers there were so dope. There was a guy in a pikachu mask singing a dumb song with his guitar, two dudes making a huge detailed crocodile sandcastle, and another dude painting on rocks and then piling them up to make sculptures. It was so refreshing to see such creative busking so I gave them all money. The commerce square is about halfway along the tram route but up until this point it'd all been downhill, the rest of the way went back up which ended up being pretty exhausting. The highlight of the second half was a quirky little yellow funicular (unfortunately i only found out about it once I was already up the hill ://). Once I reached the end of the route I was almost in line with the golden gate bridge which was pretty enticing because the Christ the redeemer statue was just on the other side. I spent a fair while indecisively wandering towards the bridge and then going back before coming to the conclusion that my legs were sore and I could actually see the statue just fine where I was. All that aimless roaming had landed me in a pretty random area which is where I had lunch. I got a soupy seafood rice bowl and absolutely loved it! Right now I've just arrived at the hostel, I'm pretty knackered so might just go for a quick look around tonight before crashing.

Sidenote: On the way to the krakow airport this morning I finally got let off of a bus fine!!!

  • Day 2 lisbon (garden and belem pic)

    28 февраля 2024 г., Португалия ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

I still had a bunch of spots to visit that were a little too far away for me to get to yesterday so today I woke up nice and early, had some hostel croissants for breakfast, and then caught a bus to go check em out. The first place I went to was the palace fronteira, its a palace that a family still lives in but they let people come and have a look around. I only went to see the garden and it was fantastic! It was so lush and green and it also had a fantastic pond with a big tile gazebo behind it that was really cool. I was quite confused to see they had a black Swan in the pond and was thinking maybe someone had stolen it from Australia but then learned that apparently the government gives them away as diplomatic gifts to people, so there you go... It had clipped wings and nowhere to go otherwise I genuinely would've tried to set it free. After that, I took another bus to a suburb called belem because it has a nice foreshore with a few landmarks I wanted to check out. In belem I saw a castle with a guy out the front playing Taylor swift songs on his violin, a big stone monument that had a bunch of carvings of people working that reminded me a bit of the statue at the ministry of magic with the muggles, and a really big palace. It was just after noon and I was roaming around the belem foreshore when I saw a bus that had "sintra" written on the top as its destination. I was surprised by this because I'd assumed sintra was too far for me to visit on this trip but when I actually checked it was only an hour train away!! I quickly rushed to the train station and went to visit. The scenery on the way to sintra reminded me a bit of Carnarvon or Bali but not quite as tropical, there were pervasive looking vines and lush green bushes everywhere and lots of hills. There were a few things i wanted to see in sintra but I didn't have long and they all cost like 20 euros to enter so I prioritised a place called Quinta da regaleira. Quinta made the whole trip so worth it and is definitely one of the highlights of lisbon for me. Its an awesome Asian style palace surrounded by an amazing tropical park that features lakes, grottoes, wells, benches and fountains. The main attraction in the garden was the initiation well, its a dripping wet, moss covered spiral staircase that goes underground to a cave that you can walk through, it was so sick. My 2nd priority was the pena palace. I didn't realise this until I'd already gone too far to turn back but the pena palace is at the top of the biggest hill in the area so I ended up trekking it up 2kms of super steep stairs. Some evil person decided to put the entrance gate to pena 3/4s of the way up the hill, not at the bottom or at the actual palace entrance. I was planning on just checking out the palace from the front and not paying so i guess they put the gate there to get people to commit to the walk up and then be in way to deep to pull out by the time they have to pay. Long story short I did that huge walk for a pretty bad view of the palace and then just turned around went home ahaha. On the bright side I did get to see it and the walk up the hill had some great views, it would've been so awesome if I hadn't already walked like 10kms that day.
It's been a brilliant second day in portugal, I'm going to get another early night hopefully and wake up at 3am for my flight :))

    28 февраля 2024 г., Португалия ⋅ 🌬 14 °C
  • Barcelona pt 1

    29 февраля 2024 г., Испания ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

First thing I did when I got to barcelona was meet spencer at a restaurant and order a paella. It was so yummy but a much darker colour than I'm used to them being. After the restaurant we walked through the gothic district (which I think is called that because all the shops sell emo clothes), had a beer at one of the restaurants in the la boqueria markets and then went to the beach for a swim which was so cold but was nice to wake me up a bit after my early flight. The hostel we were staying at was so much better than the one I got in lisbon, they put on a little meet up event every night with free sangria so all the new guests can meet people. We made friends with 3 people, Leila from the UK, zach from USA and Gaia from France. Spencer and I entered a beer pong tournament where u pay 15 euros to enter but if you win you get 40 and got absolutely destroyed in the first round, I've never lost so fast in my entire life ahaha. After the hostel bar we went to a techno club and then kicked on to watch the sunrise at the beach. The beach in the morning was so cold so we all had to cuddle up to stay warm. The next morning I got up before everyone else and went for a walk to check out two weird buildings called casa vincens gaudi and casa batllo, they were super funky and cool to look at. You can pay to go inside but it was so expensive so i didn't bother. After that, me, spencer, leila and zach all went out for tapas and then walked to see the sagrada familia basilica and the park guell. Annoyingly the  Park had sold out (how can a park sell out ?!?!) so we couldn't go in. It was fine though because right behind the park was a huge hill which we walked up to watch the sunset, it was really nice but super cold, not as good as the athens one. At night we went to another club which was pretty rubbish, zach and I left early. Barcelona was so good I wish we had more time!Читать далее

  • Amsterdam

    4 марта 2024 г., Нидерланды ⋅ ☀️ 11 °C

We got about 45min of sleep before our flight so by the time we arrived in Amsterdam we were seriously feeling the fatigue. There was about 3 hours to wait before we could check in to the hostel so we spent the afternoon roaming around the redlight district and the canals. The buildings in Amsterdam are stunning and the canals are lined with trees and criss crossed with small arched bridges which made walking around feel very calm and cosy. I was slightly surprised to find that some of the areas close to the red light district have a bit of a bali feel. I knew there would be weed shops and brothels everywhere but I guess I was expecting the advertising for them to be a little more tasteful than it was. For the first night we went to a dj event hosted by a label called ilian tape. The music was like cinematic, industrial, minimalist type dub/garage and it was the coolest set I've ever seen! Like it was kinda blowing our minds how unique, artistic and creative it was. Someone needs to give mia koden a residency at the louvre coz thats where a show like hers belongs! The following day we woke quite late and went to vondelpark for a look around. Everywhere in Amsterdam is mega crowded and vondelpark was no exception. It was pretty nice walking through all the nice grassy areas and lakes but unfortunately all the trees in the park are deciduous, so none of them had any leaves which detracted from the parks lushness a fair bit. We were feeling pretty giddy all day from too many bad sleeps so we had an early night that night. The next morning we checked out of the hostel and went to the moco museum. Moco is a pop art gallery and had stuff from Banksy, andy warhol, basquiat and takashi mirakami which we were pretty keen to see. I liked the Banksy stuff the most out of those guys but there were a bunch of animated videos by an artist called Six n Five which were my favourites. Our bus to paris was at 1150pm so we spent the rest of the day roaming around and stopping to have beers in various places while we slowly made our way to the bus station. Amsterdam was nice but it's too crowded and the Bali vibes kinda killed it, the canals and the fact that everyone rides bikes instead of driving is cool though.Читать далее

  • Paris pt1

    5 марта 2024 г., Франция ⋅ ☁️ 8 °C

Paris is so nice!! I have no idea what everyone's been complaining about everything's clean, nothing smells, there're no crazy or homeless people and I've felt totally safe the entire time. We caught an overnight bus here from Amsterdam and arrived at 7am. We quickly dropped our stuff off at the hostel and then got breakfast at a bakery. I got a raisin snail and a pain de chocolat which were both super flakey and buttery, I was so happy. We ate our pastries outside a Cafe and chilled there for a good 30 minutes while we settled in. While we were eating I noticed a lot of the girls here wear their blush really weird, they're all going for a super rosey cheek look but it kinda looks like a little kid did it for them ahaha. After breakfast we went into the city center to check out the museum d'orsay. We chose this over the Louvre because it has lots of Vincent van gogh and also I was pretty keen on going to the place they went in doctor who that time. Honestly we were probably a bit too sleep deprived for the museum, it was a bit of a slog to get through it all but it was worth it for the van gogh stuff coz that was sick. For lunch we got some baguettes and more pain de chocolats and then went to see the eiffel tower. I think its time I finally accept that I'm scared of heights because walking up the eiffel tower stairs was terrifying. We didn't take the lift all the way to the top because it was super expensive but the view from halfway was still awesome. After the eiffel tower we walked to the Arc de triamphe and then went home for a quick nap. For dinner we went to a super busy restaurant that our salt mine friend in krakow recommended. We had to line up for an hour to get in and they made us share the table with two strangers but the food was really nice. The highlights of the meal were definitely the snails and red wine which were both soo delicious. The snails tasted exactly like gnocchi, I'm going to try and see if I can get them in Perth coz they'd be a great vegetarian option to put in pasta or salads. The restaurant didn't sell frog legs so after we finished our snails and wine we went to another one that did. The second restaurant was pretty fancy and super expensive but we were a bit drunk at this point so money was no object. The frogs legs were outstanding, even better than the snails, they were so buttery and garlicy and just fell off the bone. One thing that's been a constant gripe for us on this trip is that restaurants never give us enough bread with our food but this one kept refilling our basket which made us super happy. We were so grateful for the bread we decided to stay a while and order some french cheeses for dessert, which was exquisite. At this point in the night we were really feeling the Paris spirit and were super in love with the city so we went to see the eiffel tower and Arc de triamphe again. We were super lucky because we got to the eiffel tower only 10 minutes before they shut the lights off for the night! It was such a nice view seeing the Paris lights behind the tower im so happy we decided to make the journey :).
The next morning we went to the same bakery as the day before but got baguettes which tasted amazing and then quickly checked out the sacred heart basilica before heading off to the airport. Also have to mention I got a hot chocolate at a Cafe while we waited for the shuttle to the airport and it cost me $10!?!?!

    8 марта 2024 г., Англия ⋅ ☀️ 10 °C

Lowkey one of the best airbnbs we've had! We're gonna get pretty bored here I reckon the cities an hour away

  • Have had some sound nights out like

    18 марта 2024 г., Англия ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

So our second night here was a Saturday and even tho we were super knackered after all those sleepless nights travelling we felt obligated to make the most of the London night-life so we went out to an event. The night was dreadful because we really dragged our feet getting organised so we had to catch a bus into central London instead of the tube. It took over 2 hours to get to the venue and spencer forgot his ID so i spent the whole journey angrily thinking i was going to have to go in by myself. We arrived at 2am and thankfully they let spencer in. The DJs were alright but I was just progressively getting sicker and sicker as the night went on and by the time we left I was experiencing every kind of flu symptom you could imagine. It took ages to get back to Croydon becuase the buses were rerouted for a burst water main but maps wasn't showing it. I didn't get to bed until about 6. The next week was pretty chill, I was sick and we were both worn out so we didn't really do much. We did meet up with our mate Sam Buckley for a pub crawl around Croydon which was really fun. He's been living here for a few months so he was able to give us a few recs. The best thing he put us onto was Moster Munch which are like pickle flavoured hot cheetos, im obsessed with them now and have had a packet every day! This Friday we went back into London for another event but this time it was absolutely sick! We learned from last weeks terrible experience and left nice and early to get the faster train, we also brought a few big energy drink cans filled with vodka to have along the way which really helped. The event was at fabric which is a very famous london club that some people say has the best sound system in the whole world. It was the 20 year anniversary of hyperdub which is a London label that one of my favourite producers Burial is signed to. The founder of the label Kode9 was doing the show and his set was awesome, he played Archangel which I've never heard in a club before. Everyone was loving it, the people were so cool and the venue was dope. It's definitely close between this set and Mia Kodens from Amsterdam for best show of the trip. Yesterday was St Patrick's day so we met up with Sam again to check out a couple more pubs. This time we went to Brixton and Crawford, the pub we went to in Brixton was a place called Wetherspoons, which is a chain that serves pints for 2 pounds and doesn't play music because the owner doesn't believe pubs should have music ahaha. I loved Wetherspoons, it was half the price of all the other places and the vibes in there were class. Crawford was aight, Sam expected us to be real impressed with the 3D shop fronts but i was way more impressed with the sweet chilli monster munch I was eating ahaha. Even thought we've done barely anything London's been sick, I could definitely see myself living here :).Читать далее

  • Saw the london sights

    20 марта 2024 г., Англия ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

It took us a while to get around to it but we finally made the trip into London while it was daytime and checked out the city. We saw the Thames, London Bridge, tower Bridge, the shard, the eye, the big Ben, Buckingham palace and a bunch of black taxis. London reminds me a lot of Perth, there're a surprisingly small amount of skyscrapers in the cbd and all the older landmarky type buildings in the city are just like the old buildings in Perth. I think the big Ben was my favourite, walking along the bridge towards it felt like a real quintessentially London experience with all the red double decker buses, the bells chiming and Westminster abbey being all regal in the background. I was very underwhelmed with Buckingham palace however, it's so bland and the shade of the concrete on the front wall is darker than the sides which just made it look so unkempt, it's like they did a renovation and then just gave up instead of finishing it. The silly guards💂‍♂️ were there stomping on the spot n stuff but they were wearing black uniforms instead of the cool red ones.

Yesterday we went to Wimbledon which was sensational. Neither of us were particularly interested in seeing the museum so we only walked around the outside of the tennis club. It was a lovely facility and bigger than I was expecting but the main observation we made was that the place is insanely over staffed, they had so many security guards and groundsmen all just standing around doing nothing, it was so over the top and I loved it!
The whole area surrounding the club was just so pristine and perfectly presented. It was to the point that even the driveways of the houses were catching my attention by being too clean, like I dont know how they do it but it was the first time I've ever walked past a driveway and just thought "wow that's a suuuper clean driveway", I was completely bowled over ahaha. The streets were all covered with beautiful trees and lush green bushes, and the houses were covered in vines and had mossy roofs which was so cool. All the font yards were so immaculate and had insanely lush lawns which usually puts me in a bit of a mood because it's very water wastey but England is really rainy so maybe these people are alright. (My phone ran out of battery so no pics :/ )

In the evening we went out for dinner and some drinks with Sam's parents which was fun :).

  • Weekend in leeds

    24 марта 2024 г., Англия ⋅ ⛅ 12 °C

We went to leeds this weekend to stay with our friend leila from barcelona. Leila lives in a really nice 3 story share house with 6 other girls who were all super cool. We arrived early Friday night and there was a house party on that night so we did some pre drinks at the house and then went to that. The party was so cracker, everyone under the age of 25 in the UK wants to be a dj so the music was super sick and they had big speakers and lights all set up in the house so it felt like a proper rave. After the party a heap of people came back to the house and we all just sat up drinking and talking. A bunch of the girls had ex's at the party so there was heaps of drama and they were all talking so much shit in their British accents which was funny. The next morning we were quite groggy and left the house at about lunchtime with no real idea of what to do. We ended up spending the day just cruising around the city centre popping in at random bars. We went to a rooftop bar, a wetherspoons which was super super busy and to a board game bar where we ended up paying like 10 pounds an hour just to play uno ahahah. At night we went to a garage event set up by a random dj collective in the attic of a student bar. I was so stoked we went to that coz I was starting to get worried I'd be leaving the UK without getting to see any proper good garage. That finished at about 12 but we were all kinda on a level at that point so we went to another event at a place called wire and then went home at around 4. Considering how groggy we were in the morning it was so great we managed to turn it around and have such an action packed fun day :). On Sunday it was beautiful and sunny so we went for a walk through a really nice (and very muddy) park and then had a Sunday roast at a classic pub. I got a nut roast which was delicious and it came with Yorkshire pudding so I got to have Yorkshire pudding in Yorkshire!! Easily top 5 roasts I've ever had, it was so good to have a good hearty meal like that for a change, it's been ages. We left soon after that which was a bit of a sad goodbye but that's just coz we'd had such a good time :).Читать далее

  • End of an era

    27 марта 2024 г., Англия ⋅ ☁️ 9 °C

The last few days in London after leeds were a little sombre, it had dawned on us that we were officially splitting up and it was definitely a bit of a bummer to be saying goodbye after such an amazing year of adventures.
Yesterday we went to check out all the monopoly places we'd seen stops for on the tube but hadn't visited yet. We went to Trafalgar square, piccadilly circus (it's just a square not an actual circus), bond street and Leicester square, plus covent gardens but that's not in monopoly. It was a rainy but fun explore. For the evening we went out for one last trip to the pub with Sam, we played pool and drank guinness but didn't stay out too late because I had to go home and pack.

This year has been the best ever and I'm so grateful spencer decided to join me. I just had a little scroll through some of my old posts on here and its honestly unreal how many amazing things we got to do and see. Spencer was a perfect travel partner and I'm going to miss him very much. I can't wait to be able to look back and talk about our euro adventures for years to come :)

  • Room tour

    28 марта 2024 г., Сингапур ⋅ ☁️ 30 °C
  • Singapore pt1

    30 марта 2024 г., Сингапур ⋅ ☁️ 29 °C

For the last 6 days I've been in singpore hanging out with Christie which has been so much fun! For our first two days, i was quite jet-lagged and pretty lethargic so we mostly just slept in and went shopping. The singapore shopping experience was a little mixed, it was good fun to wander around the crazy big malls and check out all the cool stuff but I struggled to find much to buy because they don't really stock things in my size. We also found it pretty hard to get from mall to mall because the streets don't have any crosswalks, you have to use underground tunnels intead. We found trying to navigate the tunnels so disorientating and half the time we would walk through only to find ourselves further down the street on the same side of the road still argh. The highlight of shopping was getting kaya toast from the food court. Kaya is a Singaporean sweet coconut jam type spread which tastes soo good, it was so amazing we bought some jars to bring back and have in Perth.

We stayed at the shangri-la hotel which was really fancy. Every night they provided bottomless champagne and cocktails as well as some really tasty canapes which all came free with our super expensive room. The problem was that in order to access the drinks you need to sit in the bar/dining area but it had a dress code and during the first day and a half we kept getting turned away for not being "business and smart elegant" enough. This was a bit concerning because neither of us packed nice clothes and we paid so much extra for the extras bundle to get the champagne so on the second night we went all out: I washed my cons (ruined a few of the hotels hand towels in the process), ironed a bunch of clothes and then tried on outfits for each other until we felt we looked good enough. We were proper nervous walking up to the waiter but to our relief we got let in. We stayed at the bar knocking back champagnes for several hours until they closed. We were planning on going out but ended up just going up to our room and playing some music, it was mint.

The next day we ventured out further into the city to have a look at the Marina Bay sands boat hotel and the big metal trees at gardens by the bay. We didn't go up to the bar at the top of the boat hotel coz we were mostly keen on swimming in the pool up there but learned you can't unless youre a guest, it was still cool to see the building tho. The gardens were also really cool, we did the treetop walk and then went to the flower dome and the cloud dome. The cloud dome was my favourite, it had a huge waterfall in there and was pretty much just a gigantic pillar completely covered in really lush green plants and vibrant flowers.

For lunch we went to a Hawkers market which is like a food court with lots of different street food stalls. The street food scene in singapore is bonkers and a few of the stalls in the markets even have michelin stars! I think the fact that food stalls have a chance to get a star here is so awesome because it makes all the vendors so motivated and the quality of everything we tried was amazing. Most of the stores are super specialised and only sell one or two dishes that they've really mastered so you have to walk around the market getting all the food you need from different places. Its pretty obvious to see which stalls have a star because they have wayy bigger lines, that also means there're a bunch of stores trying to copy them by doing the same dishes and having the same shop logo ect.. Despite this, there's still a really diverse and vast selection of foods to try. Going to Hawkers markets kinda became the main thing we did on the trip, we went to a different one every day but the first was the best, we got a michelin hainanese chicken rice, Laksa, dumplings, some fried bananas and a coconut :)). The coconuts were great we got one every time!

Our fancy dinner for the trip was at a place called candlenut, which is a restaurant that serves super amazing peranakan food. It has a michelin star too but a proper legit restaurant one. We got the set menu which meant we got small serves of heaps of things. I've been trying to think what dish was my favourite but they were all so uniquely tasty I can't decide! It was an amazing night and probably the best food I've ever eaten!

The next day we went to a famous Singaporean hotel called Raffles. I'm not sure why it's famous but it definitely felt very iconic and rich with history. We went because the bar at Raffles invented the Singapore sling cocktail and we wanted to try it. The bar at Raffles was unique in two ways: one was that the floor is covered in peanut shells and two was that they charge $50 for 1 cocktail!!! Im a bit embarrassed to admit we got caught up in the hype and got one each anyway. They were better than the hotels version but not mind blowing. The place as a whole was super cool though and I'm very glad we went to check it out. After that we went out for chilli crab at a place called Jumbo which was very tasty. I brought home a bunch of leftovers and then forgot about them which I'm very sad about.

For our last activity we went to the botanical Gardens. We didn't explore the whole place coz we were rushing to have time to go to another Hawkers market before our flights, but the highlight for me was the cool room filled with orchids. The room is meant to simulate the climate of high altitude rainforests, all the plants were so colourful and lush like you'd expect from a rainforest but it was also nice and cool instead of hot, wet and sticky. The air in the cool room was so nice it's was like breathing a cool floral soup. I really wanna experience a real high altitude rainforest now.

Chrsities flight was a few hours before mine so after i said goodbye i went to check out the waterfall at the airport which was really cool.
