Going Down Under

Wow what a change from NZ , good flight over with air New Zealand despite the very early start.. 3.15 am..hit Melbourne airport at the busiest time, what a culture change, shouty air port staff ,so many people after lovely quiet NZ, rush hour traffic in a taxi to our apartment for the next few days. After a little nap off our to explore, walking past Collins street for shopping, past Flinders street station,st Paul’s cathedral over the Yarra river, past the cricket ground ,heading towards the botanical gardens. Perhaps we were over enthusiastic as the temp was 29 and the distance long. We stopped at the shrine of remembrance, A had a rest & I went in & climbed to the top to look out over Melbourne. Fabulous views, & the museum inside was very interesting though I breezed through. Walking back stopped off for a wine or too, very busy with after work drinkers , boisterous… before we had a Quick Look in the cathedral,before heading up Swanston street either all its shops and getting supplies from Woolworths to take back & eat,despite the size of the shop lots of empty shelves, perhaps they don’t re stock during the day?! By this time we were tired & grumpy but had enough for supper. Lovely smell filling the streets from the shops, same smell everywhere.. such a contrast with NZ that we have to acclimatise too . Tomorrow another early start & off the ocean road & 12 apostle’s which I am looking forward to seeing.Baca selengkapnya
