Attempted to walk the rock .. only got 5ks was so so tired.. the others completed.. but at least I did that much..we did the sounds of silence and the outback dinner tonght it was absolutely freezing but a really great experience...love the outback!Read more

So we had a rest day today..Gordon and Kim finally got Glenn's drone working..we have spent hours getting that bloody thing up and running...we did the field of lights at night it was absolutely fab! We canapes and drinks b4 the lights .Again it was really really cold, but great. We leave tomorrow for Alice Springs.. we r picking up Dean King from Ayres Rock airport, he's hitching a ride to the finke...happy hols!!Read more

Arrived in Alice Springs last night. Picked up Dean from airport at about 12.30pm..headed off.. had a bite to eat at curtain springs. About an 15 mins from turn off to Alice, there was an aboriginal women flagging us down..we were worried we were going to get mugged lol, but stopped anyway..Glenn says to Dean you get out I'll look for anyone coming out of bushes.... then Glenn gets out for a pee, leaves me in back of car!!!! I'm like crikey they are going to mug us.. lol..anyway long story short she had run out of petrol, we get her jerry can.. head to servo,see another older aboriginal man with a full jerry can, ask him if it's for the lady out the road.. he's trying to get back to her.. so I jump out of car, Glenn and Dean pick him up and take him back.. the woman says thanks I've got paintings, Dean thinks great I'll get a painting for free, she's like no you have to pay...Dean says I've got no cash, she's like just meet me at servo and go to atm ! Lol after spending an extra hour helping them.. not even a thankyou!!!! WowRead more

Didn't do much today we were just waiting for night markets./ Street party for finke desert race. Dean came and got Glenn And they walked the prologue track...we went and did some shopping then met the others for the night markets, they were pretty average but we just strolled around.. again really really cold. The girls and I went shopping today in Alice Springs we had a great day. Found a lovely boutique..kim and I bought boots , Lee bought a great hat..we met the boys for lunch I got Glenn a great jacket, Kim got some really nice jeans...we arrived at scritineering about 5.30 and got home about 8.30 it was great to see all the buggies... saw some old ones which was good...tomorrow is prologue at 8am in the morning.Read more

Gordon , Glenn and I headed out to prologue at 8am...we were all looking forward to a nice hot coffee... watched a couple of cars then I waited in line for 1/2 an hour only to get a ticket for coffee which they said would be another 45 minutes...2 and half hours later after me going there 3 times Gordon goes there and ours are ready but only 2.. thank goodness it was Gordon because he stood his ground and got our 3 coffees, by this time we'd had enough and went back to camp. Got out to track...Glenn was reversing the car/ caravan back as a windbreak between Curly and Craig and , as usual he didn't have his window down , couldn't hear us yelling and bloodwell ran into the front of Curlys car with our caravan. Bloody idiot he will not listen and never winds his window down... so that was a very expense free camp for us....anyway we got over it and Curly and Mary were ok about it..we will pay for it when we get back..😪😪😪. The place we were parked was just full of prickles and they got everywhere.. and boy did they hurt...we were up early on race day to see the first guys come through...we watched a few and then decided it was time to cook some damper. Glenn got the fire started and Gordon dug a few holes and with Mary as our teacher we made savoury bacon..i cooked up bacon and onion then we mixed with SR flour, milk , butter and water mixed then alluded the cooked bacon abs cheese...we wrapped in foil then put into our prepared camp ovens they were so nice.. took 2 hours and 2.45 hours to cook but they were great.
We had lovely chicken burgers for tea . Curly and Mary's dog wasn't well so they had an early night as they were very worried about lilly

Ross River resort

Arrived at Ross River from Alice Springs. Great spot to camp..lots of beautiful trees and some beautiful sunsets. Rick got permission to have a fly so that was great for him and for us to see him in the air.His photos were amazing from the air!
We did a couple of great walks on one day.. one was really really hard for me.. up some really steep cliffs and very very high drop off ..it was hard but I was very happy to have completed it. Had a couple of bites somewhere out there and ended up with an infected finger so missed out on a great bike ride as I had to go to docs and get antibiotics grrr. Went to Transport hall of fame yesterday..it was a really good place to visit... off to West Macdonnell Ranges today..

Glenormiston Gorge

Left Alice for Glenormiston Gorge.. we only had 2 nights to see A B G ( another bloody gorge). We decided to cram as much in as possible so once we were unpacked we headed off to see ABG.lol...we had a look at Gosse Bluff first which was a massive crater made by a meteor 50 million years ago it was amazing.. kim and Gordon decided to climb up (they are now officially known as The Thrill Seekers (TTS). We then decided we were half way to palm Valley so spent the next 3 hours getting there by road then by extreme 4wd track.. Glenn couldn't go any further In Big Bertha so we started walking...Gordon went and got his car and drove as far in as possible ..As with All the ABG's you don't just park there's always a rock/river/track ( not easy) to get to the best bit.. by this stage it was getting late so we started to head home via Hermansberg..(an aboriginal town) that was a real eye-opener. Basically if you don't have at least 2 wrecked cars in your yard you are not part of the "in crowd"..kim was looking for a pub to watch footy lol

Yesterday we did another 2 BG's...I was bloody done.. didn't finish the last one.. so we r next headed back to Alice for supplies then off to continental the trip to Darwin...Read more
