A wet and rainy visit to the megalithic stones at Carnac. 4km walk around the stones - arranged or "aligned" in long rows. Thousands of upright stones dating back 5,000 years or more.
Parked up in an Aire near a historic thatched village to ride out the winds and rain. Gallettes for tea with Nicola's cheesy leeks and sauscisse de Toulouse.
A lovely quiet spot to spend the night next to the entrance to the path through the dunes to the beach. Fantastic surf and a long walk along the sand. We slept to the sound of the crashing waves,Weiterlesen
Stop overnight in the forests at the north end of Ile de Ré close to the beach by Les Portes en Ré.
Weather awful, stayed in van and had big pasta and cheesy leek sauce for Nicola’s birthday
Parked up all alone amongst the vineyards in the middle of St Emilion terroir. Will visit the cave in the morning purchase a few bottles/case.
So nice that we stayed three nights.
A day trip to Bordeaux by TGV from Libourne.
Arrived at St Jean station and walked twenty mins to the old town via the Marche de Capucins, a large covered daily fresh market.
