								At Piel Island. We caught the 'ferry' across and walked around the island which has a pub and the ruins of a 13th century castle used by the monks from Furness Abbey to collect tolls on shipping.

						After catching the ferry back we headed north and went to Furness Abbey, home of the monks, but now only ruins. It dates back to 1123.
