  • Seville

    29 oktober 2023, Spanje ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

Our trip to Seville was pretty short. All we had to to do was to take a 3 hour bus ride to Seville and then a 6 minute walk to our apartment. Our apartment was much more quiet in Seville compared to Granada but the Architecture wasn’t too different.

The next day we explored the town a bit, but all the shops were closed so we couldn’t do much. But it was nice to get a vibe of the place.

On our 2nd day we went to a Spanish Palace which the Spanish royalty still use. It was much smaller than the ones in France and Germany but it was still big!

The next day we didn’t really do much but on the 4th day we did the complete opposite.

On the 4th day we went to the Plaza de Espanya, where they filmed a few movies including Star Wars. It was huge. There we took some photos and looked around. We even saw some Flamenco dancing. After that we went on a churro hunt where we got lost multiple times down tiny streets because the GPS was getting lost. That night we went out for a special dinner because it was really cheap for All Hallows Day ( a Spanish public holiday) also for All Hallows day they had a band parading past our house so we could watch it from our balcony. And it had a a bunch of priests with candles and a float with a statue of Mary on it, and a whole brass instrument band.

On our second last day we booked tickets to see a Flamenco performance and it was amazing. There were three people on the stage. A dancer, singer and a guitar player. Each one of them took their talent to the extreme. The dancer was hitting the ground so hard with her feet that I’m surprised she didn’t break an ankle. The singer / clapper guy was singing so loud and clapping so hard too. And the guitarist was playing super fast. I think I liked Seville better than Granada. It seemed more relaxed and clean. They had wider streets, no cars in the old town and a bunch of street entertainment, making it the perfect city for me.

    Lagos

    5 november 2023, Portugal ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

We left Spain and went to Portugal. The bus trip was only 3 hours and our times changed by an hour. We then walked to our apartment and met a really nice guy who let us in.

On day 2 Dad went out and rented a surf board ( because there were waves around that area ) and went out to do some surfing and me Mum and Jemilla just sat on the beach and waited.

On our next day in Lagos we went down to the beach and got a drink up on a cliff. On the beach there were all these caves and tunnels that you could go into.

The next day I got a haircut at the barber. He was very quick and it only took about 10 minutes. And that afternoon we went out for a walk.

The next day we did basically nothing but go for a walk.

On our second last day we went for a 3 hour walk along the coast which was very relaxing. We saw some of the boats that went into these caves. We couldn’t go on because it was too expensive.

On our last night in Lagos we went out for dinner.
I was abit nervous becuase when we were up in our apartment we heard alot of drunk people outside but we went out pretty early so it was fine. Turned out they were just noisy people! Dinner was also really good but Jemilla’s pizza that she got she said wasn’t very good. Of course I got pasta bolognaise and Mum and Dad got perry perry chicken. I liked Lagos, it was a very relaxing stay and enjoyed it a lot. I like how the longer we stay in places the more the can get used to it.

  • Lisbon

    11 november 2023, Portugal ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

We left Lagos to go to Lisbon. None of us have ever been to Lisbon before so it should be good. We had to get up pretty early to get to Lisbon. The bus drive was very good and was only 4 hours and very clean. I’ve noticed a pattern in architecture through Portugal where there are a lot of white or bold colours and really nice tiles everywhere.

On our first full day in Lisbon we went to a industrial area made into a modern art space. There were a lot of shops, art studios and cafes. It had a very young vibe with lots of young people in their 20s to 30s. There, we also got a piece of cake that’s supposed to be the best in Lisbon and it held up. Plus I had been craving cake for ages!

The next day we went for a long walk to get a tart. We went to the shop where the tarts were invented and only 4 people know the recipe to it. It was very good and Mum was very excited. But when we went across the rod to a park to eat it , one of those big sea birds came in landed on my head and snatched Mums tart out of her hand and bit her finger in the process. So we had to get her another one. We also went to this sea side watch tower that was super old that was really cool. We couldn’t go in though.

On our 3rd day we went on a long walk to a famous square and popped into a market to look around. The streets were super busy around the square and we saw a professional sand sculpture. The underground and public transport in Lisbon was very dirty. The underground had a bunch of graffiti and for some reason the floor was super wet. But we did get tickets to the old above tram which Dad said is iconic.

On our 4th day in Lisbon we went up to this nice viewing spot that looked over Lisbon. We took the old tram over there and went into a few church’s too. The views over Lisbon were awesome because every roof was orange and close together which gave me the urge to run across them. But I held myself back.

On our last day in Lisbon we had a pretty chaotic day. We were supposed to get up at 8:00 and get on a train and go see a Castle. But instead woke up at 9, got out of the house, then realised the debit card wasn’t working for some reason. Then it took ages for us to catch the next train and missed. So then we were a hour late for the castle and they didn’t let us in because we were late and not letting us get a refund. But the town there was pretty. In my opinion I liked Lisbon but I wouldn’t visit again.

    Nazare

    19 november 2023, Portugal

We left Lagos to go to the airport to pick up a car which I was very exited about. It was only a two hour drive to Nazare which is where the biggest waves in the world are. The area of Nazare was very white but surprisingly didn’t have the surf town vibe.

The next day we got up at 6:00 to see the 6 meter waves that were set to arrive in the morning. We walked up a cliff and saw the waves and they were massive and people were taking jet skies and sliding onto the wave. A surfer got caught on the rocks and couldn’t get out because the waves kept throwing him into them. But in the end he got out with half a board in hand.

On our second day it was Dad’s birthday, so we had a big day with him going into town and looking around and going into shops.

On our last day in Nazare and Europe, we went down to the beach and I was about 2 meters away from this massive wave and it was only a shore break and it was absolutely massive. Of course I got completely satched ( but that was always gonna happen). Our stay in Europe has been an amazing experience full of different foods, cultures and awesome sights and one day I will definitely return. Plus I still have a lot of things to look forward to seeing that we’re going to England tomorrow!

  • Cotswolds/ Bradford

    23 november 2023, Engeland ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

We left Nazare early in the morning and it was already feeling colder than the last few days. We dropped our car off and got on the plane to London, it was a 3 hour flight and I was super excited to get to London. Once we landed we went and rented a car and drove to the Cotswolds. The super markets in England are very similar to Australia, a lot of the foods the same and the cereal not full of sugar.

On the next day we explored around Bradford on Avon and it was awesome. I felt like I had been taken out of a story book, plus it was cold which I was really looking forward to. In the morning we went around and explored and went into this tiny tea shop and got scones with jam and cream and tea. I don’t usually like tea but this tea was delicious. It even came out of a tea pot with sugar cubes. I really liked Bradford on Avon. It felt a-lot like home in a-lot of ways, and I wonder if I will feel the same about London

  • Warner Brothers set tour

    24 november 2023, Engeland ⋅ 🌙 4 °C

I wasn’t originally going to make one for this but there were so many photos I couldn’t fit it all into one blog with London too.

We left the Branford on Avon earlyish to take a set tour of the Harry Potter movies on our way to London. On the way we saw the English stone henge which was cool. You had to pay to get in but we drove passed and saw it anyway. The set tour was sooo cool, it had all the costumes that they wore during filming, and all the sets that were in the movies. It had a bunch of information on the making of the movies, a small cinema documentary, and It even had a replica of the Castle. It was definitely one of the highlights of the trip and I would really want to go back again.Meer informatie

  • London Nu. 1

    25 november 2023, Engeland ⋅ ☁️ 2 °C

On our first day in London we met up with Mum and Dad’s friends from Hong Kong. They took us out for Lunch and to their school Christmas market, they said it was very modern but it definitely wasn’t. It looked like a proper London boarding school. After all it was called kings college. After that we went out for Lunch with them to this really small pub and got really full. The pub had a very London vibe about it and you were allowed to bring dogs inside. We said goodbye and then at night we went into central London to go to a service at Westminster Abbey, they let us sit in the seats where all the royals sit for the coronations which was awesome and the choir was very good to listen to. Plus we got to see Big Ben lit up at night.

On our second day in London we walked for a while to get to Buckingham Palace. On the way we went into Harrods just to see all the fancy and expensive stuff. We finally got to Buckingham palace and sat on the edge of the fountain. It was pretty cool to see but for some reason I was more excited to see Big Ben. On our way out we saw some action movies being filmed and we were desperate to figure out what it was for but the security guards wouldn’t tell us. We went back into the main part of London to this Portrait gallery in place which was completely free. In there there was just a bunch of pictures of famous people and they all looked so real. Then we just looked into shops and went back home.

The next day we decided to the go the London Natural history museum and the science museum which was both completely free. In the Natural history Museum there were a bunch of dinosaur bones and sculptures as well as a few stuffed animals like lions and tigers. And the science museum basically was the full history of space and machines. The natural history Museums Architecture was really cool to, it had like monkeys engraved into the walls.
So far London had been great and one of my favourite city’s and I’m looking forward to what the next few days bring.

    London Nu. 2

    28 november 2023, Engeland ⋅ 🌙 3 °C

On our 4th day in London we left later than usual because we didn’t have as much to do. By the time we got out we only had about 2 hour of sun light left before dark ( seeing that it gets dark around 4:00 here. We went to this Modern art gallery (Tate Modern) that was… peculiar. It had some weird art there. Some of it was just a white canvas with a splotch of white and another would look like a kinder kid made it. After we walked to West End and went to a musical called “crazy for you” which was really good. We found out that tickets were much cheaper during week days which made it easy for us.

Once again like yesterday on our last day in London we left the house pretty late. We took a walk along the side of the Thames to get a better look at London tower bridge which looked pretty cool. Then we went to another church service at Saint Paul’s cathedral for a service, I think I liked the first one more though maybe on the other one it was my first time so it felt more nicer to the ears but the one at saint Paul’s was more echo-ish. Then I went to the best show I have ever seen in my life. We split up into a group of two. Mum and Jemilla went to the Royal London Ballet which they said was very mesmerising. And Dad and I went to Back to the future the Musical which was one of the best musicals I’ve ever seen. The crowd was super into it and cheered and clapped a bunch, and the singing was perfect and the effects were super cool and I’m really hoping it will come to Melbourne so I can see it again. To sum up London it was one of my favourite city’s so far and maybe my favourite place. It had the Christmas vibe going on, it was cold, and it had a bunch of shows to see and everyone was really nice.

  • Canada

    1 december 2023, Canada ⋅ 🌧 3 °C

We left London at 11:00 am and we had a lot of time on our hands because our flight left at 6pm. We got to the airport early and then waited for our flight. The flight took 8 hours but instead of it being 2:00am when we got to Canada it was only 9 pm so in the end when we got to bed it was around 5:00 am body clock time. Jen and Dunc who were Mum and Dad’s friends from when they lived in Hong Kong picked us up at the airport and we stayed at their house for the night. They had two really cute massive dogs that we got to hang out with.

On our second day in Canada we planned to get in the car and drive up to a cabin to meet up with other friends for the weekend with Jen and dunc. It was a 4 hour drive and it was in the snow. It was so cool because we had to go into the super markets too and there was a Starbucks in the super market. We also saw a bunch of new fast food places (and there were a lot of fast food places. ). In the middle of the van we had two dogs so it was pretty squishy. We even had a snow ball fight in a Wendy’s parking lot. The cabin when we got there was super cozy, it felt as if it was plucked out of a Christmas movie. It had a fireplace and tons of bedrooms and a spa.

On our next day in the cabin we tried a lot of different foods. We tried Pop tarts, peanut butter and jam which was actually pretty good and whipped cream straight in my mouth, I did gag. We then went into the sauna (which was my first time by the way) then we sprinted out onto the snow and rolled in that and ran back into the sauna because apparently that’s good for your skin? And it was freezing and super hot at the same time. We could also walk along the ice and we even made a snowman.

And on our last day in the cabin we had to get up semi early because people had to leave before a snow storm hit but we did get one more ice walk before that happened. The car ride was good and we got to go out for dinner with Jen and dunce’s parents and I got super full, I had never been more full in my entire life. I ate chicken wings and ribs but they packed a lot onto one plate.

On our last day in Canada we went to Niagara Falls. It was about an hour drive and it was cool because just over the waterfall was the border of America which we were going over the next day. We got a couple of pictures of it and when it turned dark it was all lit up which was nice to see. Then for dinner ( I know we’ve never had so much food in one country on this whole trip) we went out to this classic diner that looked super iconic and had very good food. I loved Canada the food was good, the people were awesome, and it had some very beautiful scenery and I would definetly come back here on the winter.
