    Cliffs in the south

    July 8, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

A couple of days driving, stopping for long meal breaks with a view, and seeing caves and different cliffs on the way. Music is back, we're taling our time, and prioritizing the afternoon coffee and a proper parking spot before sunset. Whenever too windy, we go till we find a bit of shelter, but we are going along the coastline and the only vegetation around here are small thorny bushes that can survive the rough weather so a proper shelter is a rare thing.Read more

    Venus Bay

    June 1, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

We are glad to be back here as we really like this caravan park due to the views of the bay and watching the birds.
We ordered fish and chips for dinner, it was Whiting which was lovely tasting but a bit small as a portion we should have got an extra to share.
Watching the Pelicans and the Pacific gulls chasing after the fishermen while they gut their catch or listening to them walking on the roof of the caravan very cool.
We went for a walk to the lookout to see if we could spot any dolphins but no luck this time.

    Elliston

    October 19, 2017 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

Had a very busy week workwise, so stayed at a caravan park at Elliston on the Eyre Peninsula. Not a lot to see here, but managed to finish early one afternoon and did the The Great Ocean Tourist Drive. Lots of bays, beaches and clifftop lookouts with some large sculptures thrown in.

This area is very exposed, and has large swings in temperatures...maximum of 18° one day, followed by 32° the next when the northerlies swung in.Read more

    Venus Bay

    May 31, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

After a cold very dark night at Fountain we awoke to find that we had been the only ones to stay there overnight.
We took a trip into Coffin Bay to have another look around (we stayed here last year on our big lap trip.
Then got back on the Flinders Hwy to Venus Bay we stopped in Elliston for Diesel and some lunch bits.
We have booked into the caravan park for 4 nights, we really enjoyed it here the last time we stayed (not the lap trip just the trip across the Nullarbor we did before I quit working).

    Venus bay

    November 1, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

We drove back down to Venus bay in the arvo after Bess had finished swimming with the seals and dolphins. We had seen the bay the day before and both said, we have got to come back to this. We had four more days waiting for parts to arrive in Cummins so we could have the air con fixed. So lets go fishing!!!
It’s has a beautifully protected bay, great for kayaking, and a lovely long wharf to fish off as well. We spent most of our time fishing the rest eating our bounty. We ate king George whiting, salmon, herring and lots of squid 🦑. I did a lot of fishing from the kayak catching fish as well as squid ( getting inked in the process nasty parsties ) But I have to admit on one occasion I proudly came back with my catch only to be upstaged by Bess who had caught a much bigger squid than mine off the wharf ( hate it when that happens ). We had a great time here and it’s one of those places we must come back too.

    Magical Mystery Tour Tag 2

    February 11, 2016 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C
