Hüt hei mir üs ufä Wäg richtig Hobart gmacht. Ungerwägs hei mir nu bim Lake St. Clair aaghautä zum chli am See entlang z loufä. Mir hei üs entschiidä, dass mir bis zur Platypus Bay göh, ir hoffnig, dass mir öbbä sonä Platypus gseh. Aber leider hei mir wieder kenä gseh 😏

Aber süsch isches gliich schön gsi, nur leider het z Wätter nid so mitgmacht gha. Trotzem rägä hets aber gliich viu Wanderer ungerwägs gha, wüu dr Lake St. Clair isch di letscht Station vom Overland Track.

Nachemnä feinä Kaffee☕ si mir wieder wiitergfahrä u si vou gspannt, was Hobart de so aues z bietä het 😊Read more

Lake St. Clair

Der Lake St. Claire ist einer der Wanderorte hier auf Tasmanien, vorallem für Fernwanderer. Diese fangen am Craddle Mountain an und laufen dann 6 Tage mit Rucksack und Zelt durch den Nationalpark bis zum See. Einige sehen wir hier ankommen und ich sehe ihnen mit neidischen Blicken zu. Sowas würde ich ja auch gerne mal probieren 😁
Wir haben uns eine Wanderung bis zu zwei kleineren Seen in der Nähe ausgesucht. 4-5h sagen die Hinweißschilder. Am Besucherzentrum wartet eine heiße Dusche, wenn wir wieder kommen. Diese macht allerdings schon um 16Uhr zu. Das führte dazu, dass diese Wanderung eher zu einer Ausdauer Sporteinheit wurde. Was man nicht so alles schafft für eine kostenlose heiße Dusche.
Der Hinweg war aber auch nicht so super, dort war einfach nur viel Wald und keinerlei Ausblick. Dafür gab es auf dem Rückweg mehr zu sehen. Berge und der Wald war nach jeder Ecke wieder etwas anders.
Am Lake St. Claire soll man auch Platypus (Schnabeltiere) beobachten können. Hier hatten wir diesmal kein Glück. Nur ein Echidna hat sich wieder gezeigt 😍

Den Abend haben wir an einem Stellplatz an einem anderen See in der Nähe verbracht. Dick eingekuschelt haben wir uns mit Chips und dem Harry Potter Hörbuch in den Windschatten unseres Campers verzogen ☺️Read more

Larmairremener tabelti & Platypus Bay

On the way to Lake Saint Clair i finally saw some cockatoos on a field beside the road and also one wallabie! And close to Lake Saint Clair even an Echnida!! That one is a funny and cute looking little animal. Unfortunately it's pretty fast, as I stopped the car I looked in the back mirror and saw it running off into the bushes. So I didn't even got out of the car to look where it is. To bad, but I saw one!!! I will try to get a picture next time.
I arrived at the Lake Saint Clair Visitor Center at 1:15pm. I asked the friendly stuff for a nice 1-2 hours walk and they recommend two to my. I decided to do the Larmairremener tabelti and Platypus Bay Walk. I started to walk to the Platypus Bay first with a big hope to see some Wombats and maybe even a Platypus. But I am not very lucky at the moment with the wildlife. There no animals around. Too bad. Though it was a really nice walk and the Platypus Bay remember me of Jurassic Park somehow. Don't know, the area made me look for dinosaurs to step out of the forest. Totally crazy.
Then I did the other track, it's a aboriginal walking track with some signs with the history of the local tribes on.
Also really nice walk through the bush. Hard to describe. It started to rain a little bit. But it was just some short shower of very light rain and the wind started picking up a little bit.
For the way back I decided to take the path on the beach. Here it looked even more like Jurassic Park.Read more

There I stayed on a free walk-in campsite on the beautiful lake. Just a few to many mozzis around!
In the monig I headed for "Mt. Rufus"(1416m) which gave, on this sunny day, magnificent view all around! Even I could get a glimps on "Frenchmans Cap" in the far distance.
Then I decided to carry on to the "Walls of Jerusalem".

Nach einer Nacht am See, bin ich heute auf den "Mt. Rufus"(1416m) hochgegangen. Wo ich einen super Rundblick hatte, bei schönem Wetter heute! Ich konnte sogar einen Blick auf "Frenchmans Cap" erhaschen.
Und nach den letzten Information über den "Overland track"(der hier endet), musste ich mich entscheiden, zu warten und mit dem Bus zum Startpunkt zu fahren oder weiter zu reisen. Da der Wetterbericht eher schlecht als recht ist (sogar Schnee ist vorhergesagt) habe ich mich entschlossen die Zeit zu nutzen und mache mich auf den Weg Richtung "The Walls of Jerusalem".Read more
