      Adriversaire direction Rincon

      July 11, 2023 in Colombia ⋅ ☁️ 31 °C

    • Day 8

      Necoclí

      February 6, 2019 in Colombia ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

Today i start my trip to Capurganá

At six o'clock in the morning I was on a plane to Monteria and now I drive in a minivan to Necoclí, the next stop to get to the remote Capurganá close to the border with Panama.
The landscape reminds me a lot of Cali.
A lot of open field with isolated low trees, in between rice fields on which herons prance.

Then the number of trees increases, white trees with pink bloom, a decorated street, and to the left and right grazing cattle.
Everything is full of scooters and motorbikes, out here cars don't seem to exist.
And then you can feel the sea approaching, the trees turn into palm trees and huge banana plantations, between all the nature are a few houses and tiny villages.

The driver of the van is crazy. He overtakes at every opportunity and even if there is no opportunity, because on the other lane is a truck, my heart nearly stops several times.

He also seems to be a sort of regional postman.
During the ride, he keeps stopping and picking up small electronic items that are labeled with address labels, after a few kilometers we stop again and he hands over the boxes.
Sweet chaos, beauty, everything here is so typical  Colombian.

And then we arrive in Necoclí.
It's a tiny place. In the "center" of the small town, there's one shop next to the other. I walk to my hostel, tired from the night without sleep and the heat due to the 15 degrees difference between here and Bogotá. When I arrive everything is beautiful.
The hostel literally goes into the sea. It's cozy and i share my big room with 8 beds only with two more people.

After a little rest next to the sea, I buy fruit, vegetables and potatoes for my food today at various stalls.
Back I cook a delicious lunch and then im having a siesta.
The rest of the day I spend reading on the balustrade by the sea, playing with the dogs and cats from the hostel and enjoying the day.
The sea never stops rushing its waves towards the walls. I feel like the hostel is part of it.

This place is so typical Colombian, it hurts. It feels like being back home after too much time.
