Fiji was beautiful but not quite what we expected! The island was gorgeous but it was a significant drive from port to any of the activities. We chose to do a day at a resort to be able to experience the Fiji waters. The resort was like out of a postcard and it would be beautiful to stay on a property like that, but to get around the island and do anything else was hard.

At the resort we swam and had a traditional Fijian lunch. Then after words it was time to head back to port. One of the interesting things about Fiji is we saw all 3 prisons and they have a program where when you get out of jail they give you a plot of land to help start your life afterwards.

Overall while we enjoyed Fiji it isn’t necessarily somewhere that is on a must hit again list for me. It was beautiful and amazing, but the travel time from the US is so long and i think there are many other areas to go and see in this region of the world.Read more

Traveler It was a few kinds of meat, potato salad and a few other salads, and rolls! Similar to a Hawaiian meal. Super good!

Traveler I agree with Hannah - the prison/land system is interesting and unusual. For a somewhat small island, that seems like quite a few prisons.

Suva, Fiji

We have been in Suva in 2017, so we decided to take a short, 4 hours tour today. The weather forecast was rain and more rain, but when we docked it was sunny and really warm.
The big tour bus was very comfortable and practically empty. Upon entering bus, we were presented with Fiji water.
First stop was just an overlook with our ship .
Our second stop was produce market. Huge area with all kind of fruit and veggies. The prices are very low.
We then passed a government building. In 2017 we stopped and walked around. Now it’s not permitted. We took a photo of the guard from the bus.
The next stop was Fiji museum. Located in the heart of Suva’s Thurston Gardens, the Fiji Museum holds a remarkable collection, which includes archaeological material dating back 3,700 years and cultural objects representing both Fiji’s indigenous inhabitants and the other communities that have settled in the island group over the past 200 years.
We stopped at the restaurant for light lunch and then the last stop was shopping mall (unnecessary stop).

Tauchen in der Südsee und Suva Trip

Suva ist die Hauptstadt Fidschis und dorthin ging heute meine Tour, während Marc tauchen war.
Nach zwei Stunden Busfahrt erreichten wir Suva und die in der Tour enthaltene Sightseeing fiel leider sehr kurz aus und ohne Stopps an den Sehenswürdigkeiten.😔 Nach einem kurzen Besuch des Fiji Museums ging es zur Shopping-Mall und danach zwei Stunden wieder zurück....unser Guide verkürzte uns die Fahrt, holte die Gitarre raus und sang uns Fiji-Lieder vor.🎶🎵🎼🎤🎸

Zumindest habe ich einen Eindruck von der Hauptstadt mit den ca. 85.000 Einwohnern
bekommen....schön am Meer gelegen und von viel Grün umgeben, gibt es hier neben alten Kolonialbauten, Parks, Märkten, auch moderne Shoppingmalls...bis zu vier Etagen hoch....und sogar ein Kino.😊
Marc war schon zurück, als ich am späten Nachmittag ankam und war sehr zufrieden mit seinen Tauchgängen, auch wenn sie mit 300 FJD für zwei Tauchgänge sehr teuer waren.💶💵💴🙄😏😊😎
Er erzählte mir, dass er viele verschiedene Korallen🐋🐬🐟🐠🐡🐙🐚 gesehen hätte, die alle gesund waren....und das Meer sehr sauber war...kein Plastikmüll.😊👌 Morgen geht es weiter mit Fidschi kennenlernen.....und da wir morgen schon sehr früh abgeholt werden, ging es für uns heute früh in die Koje.😴🛏⏰🌜🌙🌖🌟🌠Read more

Alex.khn Hallo ihr beiden 🤗 kann Marc empfehlen in beqa island das Shark Diving Aqua Track zu machen. Also Ausgangspunkt ist Pacific Harbour. Liegt zwischen Nadi und Suva, ein relativ schönes Örtchen. Jeden Mittwoch geht's da runter, und mit ein bißchen Glück kann man auch Tiger Sharks sehen. Für mir war das ein unvergessliches Erlebnis 🦈🦈🦈 😊😊😊

489days Reise um die Welt Hallo Alex. 😊🤗 Lieben Dank für deinen Tipp. Wir hatten auf Fidschi nur fünf Tage und sind mittlerweile schon auf Tonga. Wenn wir nach Fidschi zurückgehen, sind wir auf Yasawa Islands. Aber, wir wissen noch, dass war doch das Tauchen, wo du die tollen und sehr beeindruckenden Bilder von den Haken eingestellt hattest.😊🦈 Liebe Grüße von Vava'u Kerstin und Marc 🤗😊

Traveler Segeln ist was tolles, vor allem in solcher Umgebung, mit gefällt das Zelt in dem ihr wahrscheinlich übernachtet

Auf der Fähre

Diese Fähre und ich, das war von Anfang an keine gute Beziehung. 😁
Boarding ist um 16:00, Start eigentlich um 18:00, 19:30 sind dann endlich alle an Bord.
Mein Koffer steht lose im Autodeck rum, alle sagen, dass sei total sicher und in Ordnung.
Die erste Klasse ist prinzipiell genau wie die zweite nur viel kälter. Anfangs erfreue ich mich noch an den witzigen Stempeln.
Die Fahrt dauert 20h, es ist stürmisch und es ist kaum möglich sich auf dem Schiff fortzubewegen.
Irgendwann schlafe ich auch auf dem Boden wie alle.
Ich bin so unendlich froh als wir Taveuni erreichen und es ist vollkommen klar, dass ich dieses Schiff nie wieder betreten werde. 😁Read more
