Nice easy day yesterday only 15km and we have arrived in Avignon, we plan to stay for a few days to visit some of the nearby historic sites as there are good transport connections here. Had our first meal out in two months, last night delicious. Doing some local sightseeing today and maybe some laundry, the excitement of it all. The river is very quiet saw one commercial barge yesterday and we were the first visitors to the Aramon pontoon and the only transit boat here in Avignon. The Palais des Papes is an historical palace located in Avignon, Southern France. It is one of the largest and most important medieval Gothic buildings in Europe. Once a fortress and palace, the papal residence was the seat of Western Christianity during the 14th century. We didn't actually go in and in fact there isn't much inside to see, but I can confirm that it is big! And I'm sure there would have been some interesting corners inside.Read more

Che bello svegliarsi, aprire le finestre e trovarsi di fronte a un bel cielo azzurro e un bel sole splendente! La giornata inizia subito alla grande! Ci fiondiamo quindi subito per le viuzze di Avignone, facciamo colazione in una piccola boulangerie e poi ci dirigiamo senza alcun indugio verso il Palazzo dei Papi, dove ci siamo rinchiusi per ben 3 ore!Read more
