• Great Barrier Reef

    25 Eylül 2021, Great Barrier Reef ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Very excited about today. Have wanted to this for a very long time. Primary school age i think. Lockdown is good because I would never chose to come if overseas was an option lol.
My hand has been forced and I’m glad.
We went with sun lovers for $200 each.
It took 2 hours to get there. Wet bumpy ride we’re pleased we took sea sickness tablets.
Once there, it was a sort of free for all.
We received our own gear and got into the water.
    Fucking freezing 🤣🤣😭
    But we pushed on.

The reef, as expected, was stunning. So many sensational fish. There was one that was rainbow - he was divine. So much coral.
I had brought a waterproof bag to put my phone into but I didn’t trust it so we hired a GoPro for the day just to be sure. I get to keep the memory card at the end of the day.
Saw 2 turtles, lots of HUGE fish that looked like they had buck teeth for lips and a baby squid.
I also wen ton the glass bottomed boat without Will and saw a massive clam, reef shark and some nemos.
We went swimming twice with a lunch break in the middle.
Currently sitting back on our boat ready to depart.
About 15 15-16 year old boys are sitting around us from a footy team amor something. All talking smack. Such a fun age. 🤣

  • Daintree rainforest

    23 Eylül 2021, Avustralya ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

    Early start. 7:30 pickup.
Sam our guide who forgot to pick up everyone so we had to go back to get them. 🙄
First stop was Mossman gorge where we did a welcome to country smoke ceremony and the guy went through some of the berries, plants and paints. I like the use of the earth. Social politics always exhausting to engage with as it’s always evolving but the culture itself, I love.
We then walked through the greenery and had the chance to go for a swim which I don’t think anyone did.
It was nice but we weren’t there for long or rather what we could explore didn’t go for long. It’s goes on for another 4hr track at the point where we were told to stop and turn around.
We then went on a Daintree river crocodile cruise. We saw 3 crocs. We saw a BIG BOI, he was approx mid 70’s. Old man croc. His name was Scarface cause he is the alpha and covered in war wounds Didn’t get the best look at him. The other 2 were eh. Not nearly as intimidating though obviously could still rip me in half in one bite.
This was my fav activity of the day.
Saw a python in a tree and some native birds too.
We met our driver at different side of river than where we started.
We then drove for ages looking for cassowaries but didn’t see any and stopped at lunch. (Could have driven past 10 we wouldn’t know we ZOOMED Past.)
Nothing special for the effort to get there lol. Suspicious meat in my cheeseburger 👀 hahah
On the way back we stopped at a beach. Pretty.
Then stopped at Madja where we went in a quick walk through the Daintree but turned around after not that long.
A few people tried eating ants. I wanted too but can’t eat something alive. Just can’t do it. Apparently they taste like lemon.

We stopped for gelato at Daintree gelato shop where we tried the mango. Very smooth.

Then went to alexandrias lookout point. Lovely.

On the way home we went across on the car ferry across the Daintree river.
So tired looking out the window we are both crashing.
Currently stuck in traffic because there has been an accident.

Went past the accident and it is bad.
I hope I am wrong but I don’t think there will be a survivor.
Took an hour to get past the crash but I will always rather be late than in the accident.

I didn’t like his driving of the bus once the sun set. Very fast trying to catch up lost time.
It’s ok. Don’t rush and take us over the side of cliff please :) :) :)

Home now and I had to lie down for a bit cause I felt ill.
I did maybe 2000 steps today. My Fitbit was sotting at 17,000 because of how bumpy the journey was.
We had Chinese for dinner next door.

Our hotel comes with a cat. Automatic 5 stars.

  • Cairns

    22 Eylül 2021, Avustralya ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

Living near the airport is amazing. $14 Uber ride. Done. 👏🏼👏🏼
BEYOND anxious this last week. Have been watching the 11am announcements religiously waiting for a snap lockdown because the QLD dearly loves to do that 😅
A few cases popped up last week or two which seem to have been contained but it could have gone south rapidly and we would not be entitled to a flight refund.
This is an impulse trip because Will had Jetstar credits because of flights he bought previously but got canned because of covid.
This time around that make it clear covid is ongoing and you are booking at your own risk.
Insurance an option but HEFTY so we took a gamble.
Currently on the plane so it seems to have worked out ok.. still stressed because if lockdown is called to start tomorrow we are still meant to follow eve if not in Brisbane because we have been there recently. So 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Made a mini scene at the bag check.
Put my headphones through but the didn’t come out the other side so the TSA people stopped the conveyer belt to look for them.
    Bloody Will had them.
Don’t touch people’s stuff without telling them at the airport. 🙄

    WHAT A STRESSFUL DAY.
When we landed we had a missed call.
Long story short - they are selling our rental property.
So we have been investigating the option of buying it ourselves and I honestly just feel sick. Too much. We get a puppy in 8 days. Where am I gonna put it.

We had dinner at the salt house and I tried an oyster.
    Revolting as expected.

Ok so ended up doing indervidual posts for our 2 activities - Daintree and Great Barrier Reef.

Loved the reef. Daintree was eh.

Cairns was dead considering it was school holidays. Most places only open for dinner.

    Lockdowns preventing interstate ppl.

Have decided not to buy our rental but have decided to buy somewhere. So starting the process. Feeling less stressed now.

I actually felt unsafe in cairns. I don’t want to walk the streets alone.
Lots of drugs and alcohol affected people about.

Liked it well enough but don’t have any overwhelming need to go again.
Delighted to have finally been though.

Woke early but we did gain an hour cause they don do daylight savings.

We went for a walk :)

We walked past rock climbing walls on our way down which I though was bloody awesome to have in the city - so many people using them too

—- only wrote to here originally.

It’s now 7 months after that I’m writing and posting.

We also went to south bank BLOODY LOVED, and had breakfast and just walked the city.

    Noice.

  • Move to Brisbane

    25 Şubat 2021, Avustralya ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

I resigned from my job giving a months notice in November - Will got the job offer in December. So, I have spent the last 2 months doing shit all being unemployed waiting for this day.
It’s actually been really unenjoyable. The not working at a soul-sucking job part is fabulous but everything else is bleh. I have felt very stuck and have just wanted to leave. Waiting is no fun.
Also the not having a job and therefor no money to do exciting things combined with covid restrictions and most friends working during the day has make me bored. Also a major point to my unhappiness has been living with Jess and Jax. Eternally grateful that they took us, cannot ever thank Jess enough - but have also loathed living there these last 4 months. (There about 10 months all up).
The amount of back and forth yelling causes me so much stress I can feel my blood pressure lol. I’ve never been able to feel my blood pressure before. Lol.
Have felt contained to our 2 rooms because I didn’t want to interact for my own mental health.
(Intention not to whinge but remind self of how delighted I am to be leaving and why. As I said, so genuinely grateful.)

We had originally planned to move to Brisbane in maybe 12-18 months but after a few answered prayers, Will got the offer and we jumped at it.
He has secured a 10K pay rise and it will be less work. Hurrah.
They are also paying for us to move which will savers thousands in the long run. 🕺🏻

However the big stress for me has been getting there. Originally it was looking very likely that we would have to do 2 week hotel quarantine to get across the border.
That thankfully got canned and borders opened up.
I think I could do it myself but I would hate to be in a box with a cranky Will for 2 weeks.
We also would have had to have paid for someone to trailer my car across the border as we were originally required to fly in.
Once borders opened our new plan was to drive across the border as usual - until Will got told he had to drive his Ute up, leaving me to be the solo driver of my car. 😬😬😬
As I have never driven past Gosford, this was unwelcomed news.

Which leads us to today 25.2.21.

I had a horrendous nights sleep. Woke up to every noise and leaf russle. 🙄
I woke up with a thumping headache and to a weather forecast of thunderstorms.

    Cue 2 separate cries.
One to Will as he said goodbye to me and one to Helen.
    I was so worried.
It was 8 am (an indication of my quality of sleep if I’m up and bright eyed at that hour.)
And I decided fuck it, try beat the storm.
Said bye to Bill and Helen - smashed 2 panadols, bought neurofen and big water, had 2 of them and got in my way.

The first leg to heatherbrae was fine. I get randomly attached to the cars driving with/near me. They become like a security blanket. I don’t like losing them or seeing them turn off the highway.
I played music stupidly loud but thankful did a very minimal amount of choreography in my head. I had some murder podcasts ready to go but music was passing the time well enough.
When I got to McDonald’s I cried. I looked over and Imagined/felt God sitting in the seat next to me keeping me safe. Made it. 😭

    NEEDED TO PEE.
A genuinely sensational wee was had.

I wasn’t danger tired tired but I was tired, and when I entered settlement city into the gps it was too far away for my mental perseverance to handle so instead I chose a rest stop closer to set the gps to.
I stopped in to get nana her 4 vegetable pasties at heatherbrae pies and then continued on until I got to the rest stop.
Got out to stretch my legs and looked up next rest point to get to.
An hour later I pulled into the next stop and did the same thing except this time I was close enough I could handle how far away port was - still an hour but an hour isn’t as scary.

    Drive drive drive.
    Made it to Port. 🎉
I have a tv and laptop in the car and Nana’s garage isn’t available so hopefully they don’t overheat or get stolen. 🙃🙃🙃
Went in to say hi to nana.
Gave her her pasties and ring box I scored her. She wasted no time putting her ring in 🤣
(Background story is after we got engaged mum and I drove up to port to show her the ring, she hardly cared about my ring but was beside herself over the light in my ring box and took it so she could look at her own jewelry sparkle in it 😂
So i told her I would try get her one, which I did ☺️)
I then went and had a 2 hour sleep cause I was exhausted.
Not much news about the rest of the day, just enjoying hanging out with nana.
She made delicious cutlets and come veggies for dinner.
It’s near enough to Easter that I am genuine SHOCKED she hasn’t tried to force feed me hot cross buns.

I was in the shower and I could hear her yelling for me - I thought she might have fallen or something so I hastily went to her still in my towel.
She wanted to show me bats. 🙄🙄
Granted, it was very cool, like a migration but don’t use that panic stricken tone 🤣
She is disappointed I missed the first bit - she said there were millions and from the tail end I did see, millions is likely.

I’m now in bed. I’ve booked us a hotel in coffs harbor tomorrow - I’ll meet Will there.
I want to see the big banana.

    26.2.21
Nana took me to get petrol to refill my car and it only cost $25 she could hardly believe it. “I’ve never heard of such a thing” 😆
She gave me another $50 in cash because she felt like I hadn’t spent enough. 😂
To pass time before I left we half talked about her dying.
I grew balls today and asked “are you ready” and she replied yep. So that will help me when it comes.
She doesn’t think she is good enough for heaven “i hope he lets me... I reckon he’ll let me in”
Went on to talk about how she feeds the birds and that is kindness lol.

Did our goodbyes and I love you’s. I think she loves it. Her face completely lights up when I go to hug her. I don’t think anyone else is overly emotional with her. I said I love you very much and she said basically at the same time I love you SO much.
I think we both know it can always be the last time. But she doesn’t bother saying with mum or anyone else. Just our thing. 😭😭
We walked down to the garage and I gave her a final cuddle. She loves it 🥰
Waved to her from the car and drove off.

Car had a bloody hissy fit. Air on switched off and started blowing super hot air, music skitzed it, gps shut off and phone wouldn’t connect.
At least it was a straight line so I wasn’t overly stressed and had time to fix the issue.
Still I was stressed Will was gonna call me and my car would startle me with a volume level 100 ringtone and make me crash lol.

Drive was about 2 hours - made it to coffs - met Will at our motel.

Will did some work - sent emails and stuff.

We then went to the big banana and got the token photo.
We then went to the local shopping centre for food. Lots and lots of shop options.

Just hung out at the motel and organized 3 house inspections for Tuesday.

    Currently watching friends. Will sleeping.

One of the motel rules is confusing. The microwave is for heating and NOT for cooking.
    ...Wot.

Not loving the random noises I can hear outside. Feeling very close to other guests.

    27.2.21

Will never woke back up last night so he was better rested than I. He had a solid 15 hours give it take. Lucky bastard.
    I felt ok though.
Psyched myself out again though and needed a hug before we got on our way.

I saw 2 WILD emus. Bonkers. Like obviously they are a native wild bird but it also never occurred to me.... 😅😅 Especially to be near a highway.
    Will saw them too.
I was so Intrigued when I looked back down I had somehow got up to 130km/ph.
Then started to have an argument in my head about the pronunciation with an American.
Then started practicing the conversation I’d have with the police officer when I got pulled over for speeding.

Honestly a miracle I am alive and writing this.

Stopped in at first rest stop but didn’t get out. Just changed gps to new location. Still doing the hour by hour thing for mental strength.

Did get out at Ballina service stop to get petrol then kept driving.
Didn’t mind today’s drive - this half is way more beautiful that the drive to port.
I did however mind the last hour.

Crossed over into QLD (got somewhat emotional) as then hit the traffic.
    Fuck off QLD.
Suddenly on 5 lane highways where no one is doin the whole “keep left unless overtaking thing”
To difficult to explain scenarios but long story short there roads made me so stressed and mad.
WHY IS THERE AN L PLATER IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE ON A 6 LANE HIGHWAY.
Constantly in the wrong lane which is normally ok but NOT HERE. Being in the wrong lane can mean you are 4 lanes away from where you need to be and have 5 seconds to to fix the problem.
Also no one lets you in OR thanks you if you let them in.

This is just the start of a stressful self discovery journey I’m sure. 🙄🙄🙄🙄

    MADE IT.
No parking on street and someone in our garage spot. 😬
So we took minimal bags inside.
Blah blah - we went to the closest woolies which happened to be in the cbd... and cost us $16 for parking hahaha youuuu beaaauuutyyyy
    Fuck off lol.
Bought like $200 worth off food so I can avoid having to drive for a few days. Will definitely be going to a different woolies next time lol.
From what I have seen Brisbane cbd is a lovely area.
Back at bnb and I set up the apartment- we left a note on the car in the garage in our spot and when we got back thankfully it was gone so we were able to take the tv and remaining stuff in my car up.
The evening adventures included cooking some vegetables (loving pumpkin and onion atm)
Then there was a fire alarm but it sounded like next door until suddenly... nope... definitely is not next door haha.
No fucks were given by Will. I made him evacuate though.
We are level 8 so had to take a few flights of stairs down where heaps of people were waiting outside. Fire engine there but gave us the all clear so back up we went.

I have spoken to more building residents today/members of public than I have spoken to in Sydney in last month lol. Bunch of Chatty Cathy’s.

    ——————————————-

I’d like to take this moment to complain about how many double round abouts there were on the way to get here.

    Apartment view is lovely.

I actually beat Will to Brisbane which surprised everyone. No one more than me 🤣
He got out and had food while I just went through the drive through at ballina.

Said bye to mum and dad 24.2.21. Cried and said I love you to both. Didn’t cry when going to Europe, but our current intentions is that this is permanent making it a bigger deal.

  • Engagement

    29 Ocak 2021, Avustralya ⋅ 🌧 22 °C

So up until today I have had suspicions.
    Clues:
-Date night was to a surprise location.
-We were at Adam Webber’s house the other day I went outside and Adam shushed Will to be quiet. What can’t I know about?? (Adam currently has ring possession- he showed us on NYE so I figured it could be relevant)
    - He was measuring my ring finger against his fingers for size comparison.
    - We moving to QLD - might want to ask so we can celebrate with family before we leave.
    - He got weirdly upset when I said I had packed all m nice clothes and asked what I was gonna wear to date night.
    - He sent me a picture of a ring asking my opinion.
    - He told me I had to be available the day after date night. I thought maybe to tell our families.
    - Told me to look nice.
    - we simply do not do big DATE NIGHT often enough to not be suspicious.

Spent the day trying to talk myself out of it. I spent 2 hours in the bath giving myself a pep talk. Did not want to end up being disappointed.

We went to meat and wine Co in the city. We had a delicious starter plate, steaks with amazing mushroom sauce and drinks.

I had noted he didn’t have bump in his pocket or wallet earlier so at the resturant I was arguing with myself in my head while trying to remain calm and tell myself it wasn’t happening this particular night. He kept using language indicative that we were going home.

We then went for a walk to get drinks. Honestly if I hadn’t had suspicions I really could have foiled these plans. Getting drinks hardly interests me. Giving him more opportunities to ask does 😂

CONSTANTLY telling myself to calm down and that it was okay if he didnt ask.

He then arrived at a door and he said “I also got a hotel room”
    CUE PROPER PANIC.
when we got to our room and I did a walk around and saw his sports bag already there I was so so so excited. BREATH ANGHARAD.
We went out on the balcony to look at a wonderful harbor bridge view. When we came back inside he said “this is to say Thankyou for coming to Brisbane with me”

AND THEN BE GOT DOWN ONE ONE KNEE AND ASKED “ and....WILL YOU MARRY ME”.

And I believe my response was “I will.” I may have said yes too. I can’t remember I was too busy being delighted that he was asking and noticing if he was on his knee.
    And cue ugly crying.
I don’t think we kissed. I cling to him like a life boat weeping.

    The ring is perfect.

    I’m fucking delighted.

    BIG SPENDER TONIGHT.
First of all he tipped $30 at dinner wtf 🤣
Our hotel is in circular quay. With a harbor bridge view with like a full kitchen and spa bath.

The ring cost $5500 - Ludicrous.

Had a bottle of moet prepared and 2 glasses waiting.

We had a spa bath together 🙊

I FaceTimed Em and Ash. I went to call mum but decided to wait until tomorrow.

Will said he has been keeping the ring at work. Checked in earlier today and dropped off his stuff. He remembered to pack me some clothes :) everything except a bra so I’ll be bouncing tomorrow hahaa.
He also went to mum and dads house because he knew dad could only keep a secret for an hour max but neither were home so he didn’t ask. I dont mind. I’m just happy the surprise wasn’t ruined.
Will said he asked mum for Lylas ring when we visited Nana over Christmas. He didn’t end up using it because it was poor quality but he got it cleaned for me and gave it back. I’m gonna maybe back earrings or a necklace.
He also gave me a certificate of authenticity - ring also has his initials carved into it ❤️

I’m so happy. It’s surreal. I have a fiancé wtf haha

Classic Will doesn’t want to take photos though 🙄
    He has promised tomorrow. :)

    Can’t wait to tell Nana.

    30.1.21
Had breakfast at city extra. Wore my ring 🙊 it’s a little big so I’ll need to resize.
We caught an Uber home then headed to the Pickering’s house. Jess had spoilt the surprise because she got suspicious about date night too lol. So yeah Helen basically yelled I knew it!!
Helen and Bill seemed genuinely happy.
We then went to mum and dads. I walked in the door and mum was like show me show me show me.
Told dad. He seemed a little startled. More time passed the happier he for about the situation.
Nana happened to call so I told her. She was very happy and made a lovely high pitched noise and asks how he did it. Said it made her day.
I can imagine her giddiness after she hung up.
We then went back to Pickering’s to tell Jess but se wasn’t there yet so we called grandma.
It went along the lines of
“Grandma, I proposed to Harry last night?”
“Huh.. what did you say??” 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤣
    She was delighted too.
Went home and eventually Jess arrived.
Flashed her my ring. She screamed I knew it and half crash tackle hugged me and cried. She often referred to me as a sister which warms my heart; I love it. I always act super awkward when it comes up though. Haha.

Told Sonali privately and had a phone chat with her before I made my Facebook announcement:)

We then had family dinner. Jess had gone and bought us a happy engagement banner and flower balloons (they looked like big pink anus’
We had a delicious Chinese dinner.
Dad bought 2 bottles of expensive champagne and we all toasted. Bill did his usual speech and dad did a quick one too. Dads happiness made me teary.
For once in his life Jaxon was so well behaved. 🙌🏼🙌🏼

    So giddy.

  • Adelaide

    22 Ekim 2020, Avustralya ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

    Day 1.

Corona virus is still in full swing so South Australia is the only border open to NSW that doesn’t involve the 14 days quarantine so it was the only travel option (actually I think NT might be open too) I’m still excited though. I’m keen to just walk around and see it properly. Last time when I went for diving I saw airport, pool, airport.
Will couldn’t get time off work but they released cheap flights and I jumped at them. Keen to go ANYWHERE.

The airport was so quiet. Only 15 or so flights for the day. 90% of shops shut.

So many odd balls on my plane.
I was at the gate and some lady went up to the counter and was like “so, where do you want me to wait”
And the jetstar lady just looked at her like????????? in one of the 100 chairs available. Are you expecting some vip experience?? Lol

They made loads of social distancing announcement but then the plane was full?? I had a middle seat booo.
I laughed out loud at the safety demo. They added as an after thought at the end “if oxygen is required, you will need to remove your mask before putting on your oxygen mask”
    Like fucking duh.
Literally no faith in humanity 🤣

Also the chick doing the safety demo was SO OUT OF TIME. It was like she is deaf and they were playing a different audio and she didn’t know.
Doing the life jacket during the seatbelt bit??

Arrived safe but had horrid turbulence.
SO MANY CHILDREN ON BOARD. There was this one group I wanted to murder though. They weren’t seated together and kept YELLING for/at each other “ TONY, TONY, HEY TONY” all freaking flight. Fk off. They were about 10. Old enough to have their shit together.

Once we arrived we had to show our border crossing requests which I had done a few days ago so I got through pretty quickly.
    I have no restrictions ✌🏼

I ordered an Uber to take me to my hotel. My driver was a chatter. 🙄 he was lovely but he was talking politics and I ceebs lol. And it was like a 20 min drive.
First impressions are that Adelaide is spacious, green and clean.

Check in was simple, went upstairs and rested a bit while I charged my phone.

I then went looking for dinner. Saw some dude doing some graffiti but it was middle of the day on a sort or mural bridge so maybe legal.
I eventually found Hindley street and I Loved the vibe!! It’s like Melbourne but without the arrogance lol.
So many food spots, bars and chill places. I ended up at a Thai place called the lunchbox it was average but they gave me complimentary chicken wings haha.
I then decided I wanted ice cream and looked for a place near by. I found a spot called 48 flavors that did peanut butter ice cream so I walked the 4km round journey to get it lol.

Adelaide is beautiful wtf. It’s seriously gorgeous. The people are a little odd though. I feel like there are a lot of questionable characters down side streets and just I suppose drunk vibing people.
A lot more aboriginals and Africans here too.
Lots of face piercings as well.
My ice cream chick was so passionate. She made n sample some and talked about the production and her opinions etc.
I ended up with a half scoop of peanut butter and a half scoop of raspberry sorbet which went lovely together. I figure kind of like a P&J sandwich. I walked my way back to the hotel. I think I feel less safe here. I’ll have to wait see if the odd people are because I’m in city centre or all of Adelaide lol. Time will tell.

Walked past this 12 year old saying “I’m not gonna sleep with him on my birthday”
Uuuuhhhhmmm. Go home little girl, where are your parents wtf.

The older buildings like court house and post office are beautiful sandstone.

Things I have noticed today are that their smoking laws are less restricted, there are a lot of kink shops, and I keep running into people. Do they not follow the walk on the left rule here? cause I have genuinely pissed a few people off lol.
Walked back to the hotel, watched some tv , smelt myself then realized I needed toothpaste and deodorant ha.
    Went to get that.
I’m keen to look around tomorrow, I just vomited up my dinner in the shower though and it’s a knob you can’t move so I’ve had to scoop it down the drain with my hand 😭😭🤢
    How good is reflux.
    Bed timeee :)

    Day 2.

Great sleep in the nude. Didn’t bring enough cloths to smell up the ones I have haha
Woke at 9, showered and headed to the zoo. It was forecast as 90% chance of rain so I put on my rain jacket.
It was a decent walk but easy enough.
The zoo was awesome. Way bigger than I expected and I saw animals I hadn’t seen/don’t see often ie not In Taronga. I saw otters, capybara, panda, cerval, Mandrill and an albino meerkat.
Lots of school groups and mum groups.
    I really enjoyed myself.

I then went over to the botanical gardens next door. A lot of it was untamed mess/beauty but I loved the rose garden and lily pads. Just a lovely lush green area.

It was nearly 1pm by now and I still hadn’t eaten cause zoo shop was shut (the eatery - I bought 2 tea towels at the gift shop Lol)
I walked to the dumpling king for lunch and ?? I expected to have dumpling because, well, the shop name? But they only have plain pork dumplings and then 45 other types of foods.
Odd name choice. Very misleading. I still ate there cause I had bothered to walk so far but it was eh.
Walked back to the hotel and am currently charging my phone before I go back out - I’ve taken a lot of pics today haha.
Will called before, he is busy at work. Just called to check in :)
    It is yet to rain.

I decided to catch an Uber to the Himeji gardens which were about 3km away. The sky looked suspicious and I didn’t want to get caught in the rain.
Cost me $10 so that was fine. My driver was so confused by me though 😂😂 he didn’t understand why I was by myself in Adelaide for 2 days “that is very strange” he said to me several times. Unsure if cause I’m a solo female (he was Indian and had been in Aus less than a year and that time has been covid so probs haven’t come across solo travelled yet), because Adelaide is unexciting in his view, or became my trip was so short.
Maybe all the reasons hahah. He was lovely though.
He dropped me off and I walked straight in. The gardens were lovely but smaller than I expected. I sat on a rock and though about God and creation for a while. ❤️
I love Chinese and Japanese gardens. Their trees are just so much cooler lol.
I then decided to get a DiDi to Rundle mall cause it would cost me all of $3.50
I just walked Down the strip and popped until a few shops.
So many goth teens. Why are 75% overweight? You do you babes but are the fishnets over your stomachs reaaaaally your best outfit option?
There was a cool statue of a pig eating out of a bin.

I saw an add for the graham norton show so that’s my evening plans. I decided to get a bottle of wine and do a face mask for after dinner. I walked past a homeless man near my hotel and did the whole awkward smile thing for the 5th time but thistime he asked if I had change. I said I didn’t and walked on but after I had bought my wine I decided to get out $20 and walk back to give to him. At the time he was talking to another lady so when I handed it to him I don’t think he really registered but I heard the other lady say “see” and then yell Thankyou after me as I walked away.
Even if he buys booze. There was me holding a bottle of wine. Who am I to talk lol.
I’ll never forget the guy I gave $2 to as a child, who nearly cried as he thanked me and immediately went to buy food.
I feel good about my good deed. :)
He had a bongo with him but had the skills of a 4 year old. Just banging it and seeing what sound it makes lol.

I’m not in my hotel room writing this to get it out of the way before my relaxing evening.
I still have to decide my itinerary for tomorrow.

I went out to dinner at an Italian Resturant. I got sat opposite a man who kept staring at me and taking to me. Lovely but my anxiety kicked in so I stuffed my face then got the remainder to go.

    Day 3.
I don’t know if it’s bed bugs or mozzies but I am itchyyyy. I have 4 HUGE bites. Like 5c coins and one that’s even bigger.
I was so paranoid when trying to sleep.
Anyways I got up and was ready to go by 9:30.
I ordered a DiDi to take me to waterfall gully. Another chatty driver but this one I couldn’t understand. I said pardon at least 8 times but I don’t think he could understand me either.
I decided to get a bottle of water and eat brekky at the Resturant down the bottom THANK GOD because I then started walking and fuck me 🤣 it just went up and up.
It was a nice walk but very generic bush. I wasn’t blown away or anything but still a nice place to be.
By the end of this walk my Fitbit recorded 145 flights of stairs 😂😂😂😂😂
I saw a brown nosed bandicoot.
I was walking with the same people and I learnt on girl was ON A FIRST DATE and she had no idea where he had gone and she was fucking feral about it 🤣🤣🤣 what a total wank. Just kept walking without her hahaha.
The look out was nice, again nothing jaw dropping but I still had a really lovely time.
The walk back down was hard in a different way. My left knee fucked up just like it did during EBC on the way down. It was so steep I was so shakey.
The waterfall at the base is nice.
I then got an Uber to Glenelg beach. Helen recommended it and the i suppose “main” strip was very manly vibe and lovely but the beach was shit lol.
ALSO I was looking for something to do so I was like ok I’ll eat some chips on the beach.
DIDNT DO CHICKEN SALT?? What unaussie BS is this.
I bought them anyway but they were terrible so I fed them to 200 seagulls. They were very enthusiastic and stalked me afterwards. Lol
I found a cold rock which I was pumped about so I got me some delicious ice cream.
Phone was dying, it was quite cold so I decided so just go wait at the airport.
I did my usual browse in the bookshop, am now writing this and will board in 30 mins.

Overall I had a fabulous time!

  • Skydiving

    28 Eylül 2020, Avustralya ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

It got cancelled the first time around so this was attempt number 2 and I was so scared.
When we arrived we had to register and I chose to pay an extra $30 for personal insurance in case of death lol. 😅
I felt the info provided before getting in the plane was very rushed and unguided. Didn’t go up feeling overly confident.

We jammed about 15 people into this tiny plane everyone straddling each other. I felt ok at the start but as we climbed higher and higher I began shaking and focusing on my breathing.
The people in the middle of the plane on the floor jumped out first. Mick was in front of me so then he went.
We had to butt slide to the plane opening.
Thank goodness I had to sit on the edge and dangle my legs over I don’t think I could have stood.
As we leant over I though ok here we go we are doing it.
My main memory of what I could see is “I see trees”.

What occupied all my thoughts on the free fall was that I was so cold, I was too cold. and that my ears hurt.
It was kinda like the pressure when scuba diving and this major STINGING sensation.
Once falling I wasn’t scared I was just wanting it to end because of how uncomfortable I was.
The free fall wasn’t tummy falling at all. It almost fet like I was on a windy boat. I was aware the floor was getting closer and that I was falling but the sensation wasn’t some mad adrenaline rush as I expected.
My dumb ass didn’t realise my dude was trying to prompt me to smile for a picture and not asking if i was ok. I just kept nodding hahah

I wasn’t scared when falling I was honestly so focused on how uncomfortable I was. I was tensed just waiting for it to be over that I forgot about the parachute. It wasn’t until after it went up i was like oh yeah. Hurray it worked haha.

Once the parachute open I immediately felt dizzy.
I told the dude I though was gonna vomit and he respomded “.....I’d prefer if you didn’t” hahahaha

I then did a vomit over myself and was in and out of consciousness the rest of the way down. He was trying to keep me awake. I remember him being like 3 minutes to go. 2 minutes to go.
He tried to get me to raise my legs but I couldn’t do it.

I was awake for landing thank goodness. I lowered my legs too early though so I landed in splits. He freaked out but I was like no all good I bend this way it’s fine 🤣

I had to go rinse my jumpsuit and leave it on the lawn. Lol.

Don’t need to do it again. I honestly don’t even remember the falling part, just the cold.

But I did it so I am proud of myself.
Another tick for the bucket list. 💪🏻

    26 Eylül 2020, Avustralya ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

Girls night started with $30 margarita sliders. Amazingggg.

Went to scary canary where Will joined us.
    Drank lots.
Em the drunk bitch vomited over our table then got naked in the bathroom as she dried her shirt wtb the hand dryer.
To nobodies suprise we got kicked out lol.
We then went to bungalow 8 having a few “shots to go” the way at clubs that were already at capacity.

I had a fantastic night. Just happiness and silliness with good friends.

    8 Ağustos 2020, Avustralya ⋅ 🌧 12 °C

    Wonderful weekend away.
We snuggled by the fire, ate bad food, walked around the property looking for wild flowers, watched movies, played Yahtzee and drank wine.

I did step on a frog though which was pretty upsetting lol.
It definitely has a terminal headache- I had gelatin on my foot afterward. BIG YUCK.

It POURED as well. I loved listening to it. The whole south coast flooded.

  • Day 6

    7 Mart 2020, Kamboçya ⋅ ☀️ 33 °C

    A great sleep 🙃
Met in the breakfast room. Gonna miss the mango. Saaaa guuuuuud.
I think all passion fruit is giving me super water poos hahah
We went up and sat by the pool for a while. Em messaged saying her deda died overnight so I was talking to her - the boys went swimming.
We went to lunch at a burger place. Joey is such a nervous nelly. Every guideline is a law and if disobeyed a jailsble offense. Chilaxxxx.
I got a kids meal because I couldn’t help but noticed he icecreamery next door 🤗
    Two scoops of heaven.

I don’t know if I had a nap now or not or if we were only at the hotel for a short while... either way we went off the the royal palace. Went with our favorite tuk tuk driver dude.
The palace was $10 each. I think this is the only place that can justify that price based on that there’s many things within the walls.
First their was the palace I remembered. We could look inside but couldn’t take photos. It looked kind of like a hallway with a throne at the end. My highlight was, as it often is, the ceiling. The paintings are always breathtaking.
There were lots of mini buildings with the same palace roof tiling vibes. Couldn’t go in them though. We walked through the complex past beautiful wall paintings, a mini Ankor Wat, and intricate gray stupas I think you’d call them. I love the carvings. We found 2 cats. All the cats here have fucked up half missing tails. It’s very odd. Almost to the point is it genetic? You can’t ALL have been abused?
We went up this garden spiral thing to find a Buddha shrine. Joey is loving this place. He has become just a mellow, guy. Love a good meditation.
We then found the place of the emerald Buddha. Couldn’t take pics but it was cool. Not super large but still cool.
We went out and I found a cat friend and this was essentially the highlight of my day....
I was just chatting to the cat and it walked inside a side museum thing and jumped onto an artifact an just began angrily meowing at me.
    Get off
    MEOW
that’s a 1000 years old, we gonna get it trouble
    MEOW
    Get off
    MEOW

    Hilarious.
Sitting next to big bold lettered DO NOT TOUCH signs 😂😂😂😂
There was also a section that had lots of past Kings thrones - carry seats.

We finished and went looking for our driver cause he agreed to wait for us. Couldn’t find him so we assumed he must have gone to get a drink so we just sat around and waited. The sun was piercing today.
He eventually turned up and he drove us to a temple - Wat Phnom.
Joey paid for our entry cause he was the one that desperately wanted to come. Entry was only $1 but the gesture was appreciated.
I liked inside. The main highlight for me with this tells was watching people put makeup on a Buddha statue. I asked a guy nearby if he spoke English because I wanted to know why but he said he didn’t. After several google searches I still do not know why.
But yeah, I watched 2 different people apply eyeliner, lipstick, powder, perfume, pretend to brush its hair, put a phone up to its ear and put a watch on its wrist etc.
    Very interesting.

We drove back to the hotel and I think I had a another sleep.

We went out to dinner at a place we know did interesting food.
    Stephen came too.
For entree we got served tarantula, mini frogs and crickets.
    Everyone was very adventurous.
Tom and Joey at a while spider. Me and Will ate a leg.
Tom, Will and Joey ate the crickets and frogs.
I ate a whole cricket and that was enough for me.
Look it didn’t taste that bad. I wasn’t immediately repulsed by the flavor but when I though about it bing a cricket I started to gag.
    But I did it. Hurrah.
The rest of the food was average but I’d rate the place high for novelty alone.
Back to the hotel and our lazy asses have decided to pack tomorrow instead.

Tom had 2 major dilemmas today.
    1. He lost his stupid Gucci man bag which had his wallet in it. I am the hero of this story and found it under his suitcase after he had already checked everywhere and was mid heart attack.
    2. The other dilemma was his safe failed and locked him out but it had his and Wills passport in it :)
That all got sorted - lucky!

    8.3.20.
Just the usual checkout business and Tuk tuk to the airport.
Sabdys dad got involved with our check in cause the bobbins were on our flight too.
    The corruption is disgusting.
We got fast tracked through check in then he took our passports and disappeared somewhere. Came back and our passports had been stamped and we were right to go. Didn’t check our photos...
We also didn’t need to remove our shoes like every other person in the airport had to.
    I’m not into it.
    So corrupt.

Bought my magnet and flew home. 💕

  • Day 5

    6 Mart 2020, Kamboçya ⋅ ⛅ 33 °C

Up at 4. This is going to be a looonnng day.
Decided not to do my makeup and wore my hair out - clean cause I washed it last night.
Wore me new nana dress and headed downstairs. We were the first ones there. Our taxi was $15.
Sabdy’s parents live in a gated community. We were met last the guards and at the end of the street was an extravagant tent joining to the side of her house.
Inside was fucked. What an extravaganza.
Pictures don’t do justice but do a better job at retelling what it looked like. Lots of tables set up and then foods and gold. Gold everything.
We went into Sabdys house and got told we could have our hair and make up done so that works out well lol.
Lots of waiting around. They asked if I wanted straight or curly. I said straight and feel u got rippedoff because everyone got an up doo. I just got my hair straightened haha.
My make up was far more natural than everyone else’s.
The groomsmen outfits are hilariously. Tom looks like a bellboy.
They had a waffle truck for breakfast.
    The tent was airconned.

So I’ve actually lost track off what happened today cause it was just the most out roof days but it went something like this...
We got given gifts to walk down the street with. Normally it would be from the groom to the brides house but as bobbin doesn’t live here we walked down the road, lined up then walked back again. Lol. I was carrying this pyramid package that because very heavy after a while. The bestmen has umbrellas held over bobbins head. People played music as we (Nessa and I) walked.
We gave our presents over to people then found a seat. We then got told to sit at the top of the tent where all the action was to take place and important people sat.
All white people must be family. Duh. 😂
    Boy did we regret this.
No English translations. No sight of Bobbin or Sabdy. I have no idea what the crap was going on. Lots of bowing.
    People filled bowls with food.
That part eventually ended and we ran away.

Some government person came. Deputy prime minster I believe. Lots of photos.
I cannot believe the amount of costume changes of mother of the bride and bride. Over 10 each at least.

There was a hair cutting ceremony that took a billion years. People pretending to cut the bride and grooms hair.
The best part about this was that it was all pretend but they still showed them the “results” with a gold mirror like they do at the salon.
    “Does it look ok?” 😂

This is where I stopped paying attention but I know there was a lot of chanting, people touched bride and groom on the head with roses and threw spaghetti flower stuff onto them and gave them red envelopes with money.
Also some Bow-y pray thing with candles

I think there was a ring exchange at the beginning.. 😅

There was a coffee cart with free drinks like ice tea and frappes.
    Insane.

This tent is honestly something else.
    Chandeliers on the ceiling.

We were starving. It was 11:30 by now and the tumm pains had arrived.
Eventually got fed but they have a fucked up rule thy if you’re table isn’t full they won’t bring you food.
Lots of fish with bones hiding.
Chicken head that no one ate.
We sat next to a Norwegian Mum and daughter. The Mum though Will was flat out hilarious. She also insisted sheep head is delicious. No thanks.
At the reception later on the daughter was like thanks so much for being so nice to my mum she rang my dad to tell him about you guys ❤️❤️❤️

Decided to go home for a nap cause it was such a long intermission.
Our tuk tuk driver didn’t know where to go but we got there lol. I like the tuk tuk community, they help each other out, they give each other direction and help break bank notes for each other. It’s really nice. All in it together.
What a wonderful nap we had. It felt like a deep sleep. Both just passed out for 2 hours.
I got up and redid my makeup and decided to rock a ponytail.
My dress is way too long but I’ll manage.

Got ready tuk tuk there with our driver friend who camps out the front of the hotel. Cost us $7. More than reasonable. About $1 per km.

We HAD to be there by 5. No idea why. Guests started to arrive 6:30 🙄

This was the most impersonal load of shit we have ever experienced.
So the food rule came back into play. They wouldn’t feed us until we could get randoms to join our table.
The father did a speech and not a single person out of the 700 guests stop to listen.
We were all shocked by the rudeness.
The whole thing was so inpersonal I couldn’t believe it. It was just a chance to flash your money as nothing else.

The 2 dads did a speech and Bobbins dad obviously did his in English - only English of the day - and it was very political as if he was being made to say it. It was all about combining our two great countries.
Almost like there were some behind the scenes political crap about trying to justify why it was ok that Sabdy was marrying a white boy.

Groomsman had to stand out the front and meet every guest. It took 3 hours and they were FERAL.
Everyone is so pissed about the lack of forewarning and getting in trouble for things that weren’t specified.
For instance Stephen got in big trouble for his suit. Now while stupid looking, no one said he had to wear a certain color.
When we arrived we went in but actually lead so we could renter and do the proper greeting crap with the bridal party. I had trouble doing the bowing to everyone cause I had to use my hands to hold up my dress.
The food was shit hahaha majority was seafood.
I did enjoy the rice and some mi go reng type noodles.
100 years later Bobbin and Sabdy joined the wedding and had to walk to the front through a tunnel of people. It would seem that tradition is if two people opposite each other hold hands, when the bride and groom reaches them they have to kiss before they can continue.
They then did a dance and cut the cake with hat looked like a samari sword lol.

The background music was like a cd. Perfect but also not good. Just background noise you’d hear in the foyer of the hotel.

The Cambodians dance was hilarious. Such small movements. No real boogie. 🕺🏻

They did have one dance though that everyone knew. Like their version of the nut bush. Haha.

Half the guests left after 30 mins.

Made Will get some photos together lol.
    In conclusion.
We all had a terrible time 😂😂
It would have made no difference if we were there or not. That statements true even for the groomsman. No purpose.
Too long, too impersonal. No translations didn’t help either.

Caught a tuk tuk home. Will felt like he was gonna vomit but thankfully didn’t. We both crashed :)
    - we left early like 9:30ish. Half the tables had already been packed away.

Sabdy made a point that the evening was for fancy dresses. The Cambodians wore the exact same style peplum dresses sooo??

  • Day 4

    5 Mart 2020, Kamboçya ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

8am and we went down stairs for our yummy brekkie before I came back upstairs and went to back to bed. Haa

We caught a tuk tuk to the central markets again so I could buy a dress. Very limited options. I bought one for $30. It’s something a mother of the bride/groom would wear.
At least I can now attend cause I have appropriate attire. Lol.
As we were walking around the markets Bobbin called Will and told us that Jordan ate street food and is so sick he can’t be best man anymore. Apparently when he told Sabdy she just gave him a look and walked away. That look would have had 1000 words in it.
Oh dear. He called cause he was looking for Joey as a possible substitution.

We then left and went to the Aeon Mall.
Weird layout - it’s like walking into coles. It has like isles but they aren’t actually in a shop with walls?
The rest of the shopping center was normal just the place we entered from.
We had pizza which was actually really well done.
We wandered around because he palace wasn’t open yet.
We decided to go home so I could get a massage :D
Got one. $15 for an hour. + $3 cause She asked for a tip.
    I did 2 dick things.
1 - I got dressed before the massage was over because she left the room and I thought that meant it was over... it did not haha.
    2. This was the worst.
The masseuse and I caught the lift back down together and she asked how old I was. I said 27. She said I was very beautiful. I then asked how old she was and she said 27 -
AND THEN I SAID “...BUT IM REALLY TALL”
What the actually fuck angharad. Couldn’t give her compliment back, you had to point out that you were way taller. Fk me.
It was like a 6 year old in a school yard ha ha I’m taller
    Wtf was that.

Oh also I have left over fake tan on cause I did a trial run at home before coming and it’s reaching the end. I had a shower and tried to scrub it all off but getting it off my back was a challenge.
She probably thinks I haven’t showered in weeks because presumably I missed patches and her rubbing would make it come off.
    It would look like dirt..

We did some ironing this arvo in prep for tomorrow. My dress is such a hassle. So much fabric 😂

We went out to dinner on a cute date - everyone else was still at the first wedding day ceremonies. We went to a Cambodian Resturant - we walked there - we haven’t done much walking this trip, it’s just so freaking humid!!
We had some lovely food. Just beefs really to play it safe with the flavors.
We got a free dessert. It was sweet potato covered in coconut cream and some other desserty syrup. What an odd bloody combo.
We then walked home - past the awesome lit up place.
I met up with Tom and Joey up at the pool once back to talk about their day and organize tomorrow. We are gonna go together tomorrow which means the taxi is arriving at us at 4:30am. 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃 Joey is coming in case he has to step in for Jordan.
They said today was boring. A lot of waiting around.
Organized for tomorrow - we are taking everything with us (both outfits) and went to bed. Naturally the first time this trip I’m not tired is the time I need to go to bed early 😪🙄😬

  • Day 3

    4 Mart 2020, Kamboçya ⋅ ⛅ 34 °C

    So tired eek.
Thankfully everyone is dead too so we didn’t get moving this morning until 12. Tom got a foot massage and apparently the lady was beside herself with his size asking how much he weighed and just totally flabbergasted hahaha
We jumped on one of the tuk tuks waiting outside our hotel. We negotiated $18 for a return trip to the killing fields. It was a bloody long way or at least it felt like it cause we were going through little communities. Asia just looks all the same, dusty, piles of bricks everywhere, shop fronts selling junk and small children out and about in farmland.
The killing fields are how I remover but also different. I feel like last time I walk the circuit the other way??
Anyway, the audio guide was excellent. Informative it not too much.
    Each station was very interesting.
The first few were this is where the truck stopped as prisoners got out, they is where the chemical shed stood etc. the next majority were the different mass graves. Bone and cloth still beneath the soil - cleaned up every few months before fresh ones rise to the surface.
It was a solemn walk. Everyone in total silence. There was a grace for women and children. Most naked. A tree next to it had been covered in bright bracelet things. This tree was wee guards held babies by their feet and smashed their heads against the tree before throwing them into the grave.
There was another tree called the magic tree where they had speaker phones attached to hide the moans of victims to keep it all a secret.
I think the most impactuous thing I heard today was music. This music was played from the tree, it was the last thing the victims heard before being slaughtered.
The big monument in the middles houses a lot of the skeletons. They are categorized into sections with sticker codes. Gender, age and cause of death.
We went to a tiny museum attached next door which had the Khmer uniforms and murder weapons.
We also watched a movie which was awful - a year 5 PowerPoint presentation at best. They should update..
We caught our tuk tuk back and got stuck in a mad traffic jam and then suddenly it was like the flood gates open and everyone just started moving again.
We went to kfc for lunch as if was next to the mumu place we planned to go to which was closed. Nothing special.
We went back to hotel, I went upstairs and hung my legs in the pool. I got bored so I went down stairs for an unsuccessful nap.
Our phones have been dinging all afternoon cause everyone is so confused by the wedding Andre are trying to sort out information. Me and Will are ignoring at the moment cause we have chosen not to go to the 1st day ceremony. Having 3 ceremonies that are so different from each other seems to beyond everyone capability to understand lol.
I need to go shopping tomorrow for a different dress for the morning ceremonies tho.

We went to a sports bar for dinner. I had ice cream cause I wasn’t really hungry. Will had nothing. Tom and Joey enjoyed their food though.
We then played a game of pool. It was 50c per game. We decided to get rid of some of our Riel.
So stupid. It’s 1000 Riel for 25c. They have notes of 100 Riel so 2.5c worth. Painful to add up.

Jordan sent through a pic of us on a tuk tuk from yesterday. I like it :)
Back at the hotel now. It’s 8pm. Happy to have more down time. I think it’s the heat that is taking it it of me.

I think my main observations of the day are that I am yet to see a person missing a limb and the road safety has drastically improved. 99% have helmets on an 80% have one the one person the bike.
Max I have seen is 3.
2 adults with a child squashed between. But only like 2 of them.
So so so different to last time!!

Also, I did not like that the mass graves had money in them or more over, I didn’t like that it was only even 100 riel (2.5c) which seems more like an insult to me as 99% visiting are tourists with money. If you can pay the entry fee you have more than 2c. It seemed inappropriate.

  • Day 2

    3 Mart 2020, Kamboçya ⋅ ⛅ 33 °C

Workers started early this morning. 😪
Very loud. They are drilling the road so literally the loudest possible tool - a jackhammer. I feel rested enough; It was an odd sleep though? Not as deep as I would have liked.
We went down to meet Tom and Joey for breakfast which we are currently under the impression is included.
Great spread! I ate so much mango and the french toast was note worthy good.

Tom needed to get fitted for his traditional wedding stuff so we went with him to the shop. We have agreed we will just pay $4 per tuk tuk. Probably more than we should pay for some of the local journeys but it’s $1 each. More than reasonable.
It was a bit of saga getting this fitting done.
First off we went to the wrong shop and had to call Bobbin to clarify the shop (there was 3 with the same name all next to each other) . He sent us to the right one but then no one spoke English 🙃🙃 so then we had to call Sabdy to talk to them for us. We had played charades for 10 minutes with no success. Sabdy legit said 2 words to them and then all 3 workers let out an OHHHHH if sudden understanding. Bloody hell.
When they saw Tom their eyes nearly popped out of their heads. Genuine concern they don’t have enough fabric/time. 😂
The lady literally shooed is our the show.
Hey, at least she gave sign language a go. A skill I’ve learnt Asians struggle with.
We then walked to the Tuol Sleng Genocide museum or S21. We were meeting up with Steven, Jordan & Vanessa so we popped in to a local shop for a drink. I got my coconut - yum!
It would be super cheap here if our dollar was such a piece of shit at the moment. It the lowest it’s been since 2008 or some shit. Standard. I travel and the dollar goes bad.😬 This time coronavirus is to blame. Alas.
We met up and all walked in together. We chose not to get the audio guide.
The building use to be a school before converted to a prison.
    There were several buildings.
Building A was large rooms with metal beds in them. Most of them had a photo on the wall of a victim in the bed. The rooms were massive and presumably multipurpose. There were 3 levels.
There was a sign with the prison rules.
I remember the rules from last time. They were just as horrifying this time.
You may not cry when being whipped or electrocuted.
They had the bars and pots on display from where the prisoners would be hung up, half drowned then the process repeated.

Building B had photos of the victims and some of their clothes. Also some horrendous torture photos of the methods and instruments.

Building C were the jail cells I suppose you would call them. Some brick and some wood. Some still with drops of blood.

Building D was more photos and skulls of victims.

Maybe not 100% accurate. I was more focused at looking at the displays than taking note of order and building letter.
    It was sobering.
For me a highlight was meeting one of two remaining survivors, Bou Meng.
12,000 went in. 7 came out.
He showed me some of his scars, and a photo of his wife who was killed. I bought his book and he insisted I get a photo with him. I didn’t know whether to smile or not?
I told him I’m so sorry it happened.

The group then went walking and found a cafe to hang out in and have some drinks. We got told to shut up by a person trying to do work. Will and Tom are so bad for each other lol.
We then got tuk tuks to the national museum which frankly was not worth the $10USD entry each. Lots of Buddhist statues and not much else. The actually building itself and garden were beautiful though and had some awesome fish in the ponds .

Next Tuk tuk was to the central markets. Our driver spoke great English so we exchange numbers for if we need a driver. He couldn’t remember his number because “ ahh I’ve had too many beers” oh that’s great... hahaha jeez.
We had a look around and all bought some stuff. Tom bought the stupidest Gucci man bag thing. It’s ugly and some bejeweled watch that looks fake AF.
Will bought a wallet, Joey a statue and I bought 2 shirts and a necklace.
I’d like to go back cause I was just so tired and couldn’t really engage.
We started a fight with the tuk tuk drivers. Tom promised one dude and another dude chucked a toddler tantrum.
Cambodia, Thai and Vietnamese all have awful accents/high choppy, whiny voices.
Back home and I had a nap while the boys went for a swim. So damn tired.

Will booked a Resturant. It was traditional Cambodian food - super fancy. Tom accidentally ordered a $60USD steak. The table was in hysterics at this mistake.
He did get it changed in time. Shame. Would have been hilarious.
I had saramam beef <— definitely not correct spelling.
    So good!!
We then went to the casino. We walked past these night eatery places with the flashing (Christmas) lights everywhere. Good vibes.

The casino was both weird and generic.
First to get in they took out temperature in an attempt to stop the virus spreading. Fair enough. They had awful entertainment. It was like eisteddfod standard and so cheesy! The audience was like 4 people. Awks.

Will bought a round for everyone and then pissed of with Tom and Steven to gamble. I spent the nugget mostly talking to Jordan and Nessa.

The casino had the COOLEST room which was like old school china buildings with a painted blue sky roof which was a major trip. BLOODY LOVED IT. Couldn’t take photos unfortunately. I got one up my nostrils tho.
Prostitutes were casually hanging out at the bar waiting.

I’m crashing so I’m now home. So is everyone but Tom and Will who are celebrating Bobbins bucks.... with out Bobbin. 😂

  • Day 1

    2 Mart 2020, Kamboçya ⋅ ⛅ 32 °C

Drove over to Mum and Dads to drop the car off - they are going to take it for a service while we are away.
We picked up Joey at Epping station and dad drove to the airport.
We are flying with Qantas - they only have the self serve check in which is BS.
Some lady was coughing in the tsa area. People were giving her dirty looks lol.
A lot of people with masks on but not as many as I thought.
FYI: Coronavirus is causing world anxiety at the minute.
Had maccas for breakfast (Tom was already in his 3rd beer), went to our gate, sat with Sabdys maid of honor and eventually jumped on the plane. They have all of Big Bang season 12 which I’m excited it’s watch.
The seat next to be in empty; delightful.
I always like when the seatbelt fits. Makes you feel normal sized not obese.
Very sleepy but having the usual problem of havubv nowhere to put my neck. My wrist is also hurting supporting it so poo.
Need to have my cyst removed when back.
Reminder of change of flight saga: they cancelled our connecting flight from Singapore and did NOT email me to tell me. It is by luck we found out through Tom who made an off handed comment when playing Xbox with Will.
They had put us on a new flight but it left Singapore at 1pm and our first flight wasn’t arriving until 4pm.....
So I spent an hour on the phone with Expedia and they fixed it - we are now flying through Bangkok instead. I’m just flabbergasted by the whole thing not because it was cancelled but because they dis the mention it!?!?!

Urgently hanging out in Thailand. We have a 5 hour lay over.
So far we are outraged by the lack of WiFi but also the price of food. NOT ONLY THIS —— but we bought 2 meals from Burger King which were fenced but changed to our phone anyway. SEVENTY dollars.
    Fuck off.
they gave us a meal and we will have to dispute their her transaction when home - don’t want to do it now in case they cancel our card lol.

We have been sitting on chairs playing games of ‘would you rather’ have found WiFi but I think it’s off a plane nearby not the airport.
Nadia (maid of honor) by some miracle found us.
This airport is MASSIVE and yet so unbelievably boring. And like no seating?
We got a cute little group pic in front of our connecting flight sign.
Lots of face masks now. Lots!
Our plane is empty 😂 youuuuuuu beautyyyyyyy.
We are all tired and delusional. Joey had a coconut while we were waiting - best coconut I’ve ever had. Keen to eat more once we get there!
I’ve needed to pee so many times. Always feels like it’s gonna be 7L and ends up being 5 drops. 🙄
It’s Toms birthday today. He is miserable about spending his day in an airport.

There is only max 20-30 people on our plane. Had great flight. 1 hour so just up and down. Yew.

Just started our decent into Phnom Penh. Keen to get there and go to bed. DELIGHTED that we arrive at night and not our usual 7am where we hav to wait hours to check in. Bloody cheering.

Customs was quick cause there was no one to process 😅
I had pre arranged an airport transfer so our dude was waiting for us and drove to the hotel.
Checked in and went straight to lie down haha.
Our room is stuffy but hopefully once the air con kicks in it will be niiice.

  • Aus open

    24 Ocak 2020, Avustralya ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

    24.1.20

Mum and dad picked us up at 8:45.
We were meant to fly out at 11 but our plane got delayed because of a late arrival and weather.
We were in the Qantas terminal which had a crappy food court in comparison but I still found hungry jacks so I was happy haha. 🙃
Psycho lady infront of me complained about her $1 slushee being melted and got 2 free drinks about it but continued making such a fuss that she set up and online hungry jack account just to make a formal complaint.
    Like get a bloody life. It’s a $1 slushie.
    Some people 🙄🙄.

We all sat separately on the plane - it had screens though so I watched some family guy and had a nap.

Dad had preorganied a shuttle. Total hassle to find. For starters, dad is 86% dead and missed half the instructions given to him but main problem was we were looking for conXion. As it would happen we needed to find a star bus with a teeny tiny sticker that said conXion.

Hotel is nice. We got a 2 bedroom apartment. You need an actual key rather than swipe card to open the door which is a little old school haha.

We all had a 2 hour nap, had TGIFridays for dinner then walked to the tennis. While we were eating we had a scare. Some dudes gas bottle was leaking and he was running with it and put it in the most isolated spot he could find (right near u) and ran away. People scattered. I was waiting for it to blow. Everyone was sort of leaning away and standing back.
Some dude used a fire extinguisher which was pointless but it was a big fantastic scene taking place lol.

Definitely in Melbourne. Had to walk through a climate change protest to get to the stadium and the stadium has “all gender” toilets.
The Tennis ticket lady was a lune just yelling at everyone. Taking her job waaayyyyy too seriously.

Match one was Osaka Vs Gauff.
I was going for Gauff. Osaka won last year and Gauff is only 15 so good bloody on her.
Delighted to say Gauff won. I think most of the crowd was going for her - everyone likes the underdog.
I left half way through to get a drink and wasn’t allowed back in cause I left my ticket inside.
I had to do a sneaky past the luney ticket lady - badass haha.

Dude behind us was so annoying he said WOW legit every point.

There was a thing Emirates set up - you put your seat number into the website and the camera would find you and take your photo. Will reckons it looks like he has a hernia hahah.

Next match was Federer vs Millman. Originally didn’t know who to go for. The GOAT or fellow countryman?
I ended up going for Millman. He should have won but didn’t. It was a wicked 5 setter though and the first game I’ve seen that did the 10 point tiebreak for the 5th set. The crowd was having some seriously loyalty dilemmas. Match didn’t finish until 1:30. Exhausted. Such a big day.

    25.1.2

Super tired but agreed to meet Bronte and Bea for brekkie. We walked there. Nice foods. So good to see them. Bronte hd to go but we walked with Bea to the market. She is so touchy but I love it. It moves you feel really Loved. She bought me some donuts 🥰

Walked home and we all went back to bed.
Very relaxing day just watching the tennis on the tv and dozing on the lounge.
For dinner we went to the meat and wine Co. the. Over to the crown casino to lose some money :) played some pokies - more chili, got 2 free features but no chili 😟😟 haha
As we were leaving I called out to dad and some old bag lost her shit at me. I told her to calm down and she told me to fuck off, me and my dirty legs 😂 gave her the finger and walked off. She was still bad mouthing me as I walked away. Wish I was in more confrontational sometimes.
Back home now watching more tennis.

    26.1.20

Bourke street found an alley way with some cafes for breakfast. We were basically sitting in the kitchen and the Chef was a machine! just bang bang bang.

Walked to the closest cinema and bought tickets.
Had 1.5 hours to kill so me and Will browsed the shops.
We saw 1917 which was good. I liked it more for his filmography or whatever you call it - basically it’s one continuous shot. Dad kept up a running commentary though. Such a pest 😂😂
On our walk back we walked past a bazillion twits protesting Australia Day with signs like “abolish Australia” ?? Like what’s the plan after that darl? Protest cause you are passionate not a puppet or cause it’s the in thing to do.
Melbourne is seriously a wonderland. The percentage of weird fucks is like about 50%. Already feeling dumber and kinda disgusted. Dad ad Will agree. All for inderviduality but what the actual fuck Melbourne.

We then went back to the hotel, got the tickets (ive learnt this trip dad has troubles making decisions for himself. Happened several times with different things but one example was he had a jumper in his hand, noticed Will didn’t so said he wasn’t gonna bring one either. I then said I was gonna bring one and he was then so on the fence it was unbelievable. How can a 58 year old man be so unable to make a decision for himself about this 😂 like he must normally just follow but because we picked different he didn’t know which was right. )
Anyway off to the tennis via maccas. To my HORROR dad had shitty toilet paper on his back. No idea how he managed that but I didn’t want to embarrass him to I just ripped it off and put it In the bin. Never have I wanted hand sanitizer so bad.
Got to the tennis early - bought a magnet at the gift shop 🙃 then passed times watching some mixed doubles. So boring. I just thought it was very amateur. The real highlight for me was participating in a Mexican wave that disrupted the game and a child - is guess 8 or nine screaming Aussie Aussie Aussie and the crowd responding with such enthusiasm and then once realizing it was a child come real patriotism happened and everyone applauded her. ❤️❤️❤️💕💕💕

Apersol spritz was the drink of the tournament so i got one and it was gross. Note to self: do not buy.

First match was Ash Barty Vs A. Riske. Crowd was much better this.
Lots of funny guys making songs about “everybarty” in lots of different ways but my favourite was I’m a “barty girl” plays a point then some lone “you can brush my hair.. undress me everywhere.. “ all about the timing 👌🏻👌🏻
Dad is deaf and I had to repeat most of the crowd comments for him.
    Barty won yewwww.
Up next was Federer again. I went and bought a towel cause my magnet is off the 2020 towel design but it’s not obvious and I was worried I’d forget so if I bought a towel too then I’d remember😅😂😂
We only watched the first 2 set. I think everyone was pretty out tennised and wary of an early morning. We walked home and watched the end on the tv.

    27.1.20

Nothing exciting today except an Uber to the airport cause the shuttle service dad organized is a joke. Wanted to pick us up hours earlier than necessary because they had others to pick up. I don’t want to spend 3 hours on a bus when it’s a 20 minute drive. Fk em.
    Plane didn’t crash - always a bonus.

Home 🎉 has a great trip!

  • Christmas eve/day - Boxing day

    27 Aralık 2019, Avustralya ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

    Chrissy Evez
    Spent day predominately at M&D’s.
Did presents, had a nap then read the cat book before me and mum walked to church. Wasn’t on... lol walked back home.

Got up at stupid o’clock to be at Jess’ by 6:45 to watch Jax open his presents.
He wasn’t as excited as I expected. Still happy but not in awe.
Jess is rocking this mum thing though.
Left and I had a nap back at home.
Will refused to open his pressies so they remained in under the tree as we headed to Moss street.
My gifts from him are a pussy cat dolls ticket and shoes but nothing physical to open today.

Went to Lunch - we were on nibbles. Did secret Santa - Helen got me and oodie which is great And I’ll use in winter - I got Jess a therapy blanket cause I looooovvveeeeee mine.

Mum and dad rocked up and we spent the day eating.
And trying to avoid politics but Bill simply cannot help himself.

    26th -
    Drove to port.

Nana told me to buy her 4 pasties on the way. She is so excited haha.
    Hung with nana had nap
    Met Micah and John
Took dogs to settlement point saw pod of stingrays
Throw ball to honey and bear (Micah’s dogs)

Watched some aboriginal video Lynley made with Richard’s cousin from England who is a bee pollen dude. She showed her extensive collection of art too.

Went to dinner with Micah John and Brielle.
Brielle is the first young right winged person I’ve met.
    My Steak sandwich was fab.
Will and John Hated their steaks.

Lynley didn’t know we were staying with her. awkward.
Elise, Jeremy and kids are staying at Nana’s FOR A MONTH. Stay with your parents for fucks sake.
Watching nana handle the kids destroy her house is comical but also ridiculous. Dick move.

    27.12
Holy cow Nana can crap on.
Took her shopping to the grocers and IGA.

She made me a mango smoothie and went to out a egg in it. No Thankyou..

We popped over to the koala hospital. They didn’t had the horrendous burn victims from the recent fires on display. Mainly already fixed ones. Nana gave me 50$ to give them. They have done such wonderful work this bushfire season.

Went to dinner with Joey Hamerton* at an Indian place then gelato. 🤤🤤

I love this woman. Her imagination is wild.

Today’s ridiculous stories are that she is so sentimental she had a cup sent back to England and my personal favourite - she once threw a 100th birthday party for a cup she named Ruby. She told the neighbors she was throwing the party for Ruby and invited them.
When she walked out holding a cup Kevin (man who use to live next door) said “stupid woman! I missed the news for this” 😂😂😂
I can just imagine Pupa sitting their in total infatuation. His love for her despite her ridiculous was beautiful.

    9 Kasım 2019, Avustralya ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

Drove up yesterday and had a night of chatting.

Currently waiting for our bus to take us to our HORSE AND CARRIAGE.
There are only 4 of us because 2 people dropped out.

I stepped onto the carriage and to my utter DELIGHT there was a dog on board.
My gasp would have been audible 100m away.
Our horses name was Bonnie and the dogs was Heidi, who was a chihuahua. I love her 😭😭😭
clip clip clip clip off we went to the first place - the McGuigan winery.
I am in disbelief. I liked 80% of the wines. And I mean actually enjoyed not just class them as drinkable.
Our server lady was called Margot and I think she had just the right level of passion. It wasn’t too much passion that it became unrelatable but she still definitely knew her shit.
We were there for ages and because he were such a small group we tried like 10 wines. I have learnt today I like dessert wines.
I ended up buying 3 different bottles of things - as did Jess.
Clip clip to the next winery we went through the back roads of the vineyards which was pretty.
The Tamburlaine winery is all organic and next door.
We had our own private seating area. Our host lady was lovely but the wines were bloody shit except for the dessert wines again. Loving the muscrat dessert wines at both places.
I’m very glad for the tin we could put what we didn’t want to drink into.
    I hate the dry ones.
No one bought anything here - we then went
went to lunch - on the way Cass, Jess and I all had a turn driving the carriage (let’s be honest the horse did everything itself) but still was super responsive - I clicked my tounge as a joke and it started to trot. Oops haha. Jess wasn’t wearing a bra. Bad planning Jessica .😂
Wonderful little Heidi just sat in her box. The greatest dog.
We ate at a Thai/Japanese place. Very good food actually.
We then went to a cheese tasting place. Some truly delicious cheeses but I didn’t buy any cause I just felt if I was honest with myself I wouldn’t use them. We tried about 5. Helen and Jess bought the cow feta with garlic and sun dried tomatoes - my favourite one we tried so I’m hoping they use it for a family dinner one night haha.
The shop had lots of sauces and jams etc which all look terrific and some were super random flavours like passion fruit butter. You could spend a fortune in there.
Next door was a chocolate shop we also went into and all came out with something lol.
I got peanut butter rocky road and PB fudge.
We did also get like a little sampler thing there too.
We then popped back to the Roche Estate which is where we had lunch and went to the Tempus two cellar. This one had the worst atmosphere of the lot. The other places hosts all had opinions and could say I like this one or I personally don’t lik this one. The vibe I got from this place was that if our lady said she didn’t like a wine she would get the can. Very business, very fake feeling. In saying that I liked their dessert wine here - everything was starting to taste the same though lolz.
Next our final wine tasting - a place within the hunter valley gardens. Name to come.
Wines were a no but we did chocolate sampling with them that when combined was bloody delicous. I ended up buying the lime chocolate. So randomly YUM.
We also tried caramel vodka, mango and butterscotch liquor and their version of baileys all really good - I wanted to buy the mango and caramel but again couldn’t justify it. I did buy the lime chocolate though.
These place suck you in cause they don’t sell the stuff they give you in store so it’s a now or never situation.
You can order but it’s a 6 bottle minimum I believe.
Everywhere we stopped everyone was so excited about Bonnie the horse.
I think Jess had a great time and that’s the main thing.
I had a bloody terrific day too!
We got dropped back at the hotel (crowne plaza) at 4:45ish and went to our VILLA. For a while we all just chilled out on our phones having down time. It’s a big bloody day.

I made up a cheese/meats/biscuit plates which we chomped down.

We played board games all night. We played articulate, spot it, pictionary, the chocolate game and X rated charades.

Had a fabulous time. So many laughs.
Articulate is definitely one of my favourites if not favourite game.
Pictionary wasn’t thaaaaat fun cause it was too easy.
Spot it was great - definitely going to buy - it fucks with your brain. Great way to keep it sharp I reckon. Hard to explain. It’s kinda like snap but with pictures?

The chocolate game was fucked - at first we were all trying to be as quick as possible to get the chocolate. By the end we were all being purposely slow cause we felt sick and didn’t want to eat anymore. We ended up with 3 squares left. We just couldn’t eat anymore.

Charades wasn’t as good as expected. Would be hilarious if drunk and people didn’t give a fuck and just acted it full out.
Helen acted out multiple orgasms though and I can’t unsee it OR unhear it.
Jess got it on film too. Just wow.

Just lots of laughs and comfort - me and cass set up our doonas and blankets on the floor.

Will is currently looking after Jaxon and is done.
“It feels like I have been working”
I am sympathetic but at the same time I’m like well yeah? That’s what every house wife in the history of the universe has said. Raising kids isn’t a paid job but it’s a bloody job. Exhausting little things, children. Also why childcare is a hard industry even if not academic.
    Anyway;
Just got back from doing a mad vom. Ate too much cheese I reckon hahaha.

I have had a truly terrific day!

Thrilled to see the little lady again.
I gave her here present - Yak wool socks and Nepalese tea bags.
We went to little fish for her party - she wanted to be late so she could make an entrance 😂 she didn say it outright but she made this desire clear.
She bloody loved walking in lol.
I gave everyone an awkward hug - Micah got a big genuine one.
Will didn’t come because - originally he was coming but then in Feb we got the whole “she has 3 months to live” notice meaning there wasn’t going to be a party so he made other plans.
It was Toms bucks party so a bloody good reason.
It was good food and good company.
Elise has photographer friend she organized to tak picture which was lovely.
We all got some wonderful pics with Nan.
I’m sure she felt famous and was soaking in the attention haha.
Beyond pleased with the photo of me and Nana together. I love it.
Afterwards we went to Lynley’s got dips and breads etc.
One by one people left until it was just Micah, John, Lynley and I. We chatted for hours. When I got home Nana was asleep. She had a terrific day. Se said she felt so happy and full which was lovely to hear. She said she was responsible for all these people and thought it was wonderful.
    Thanks for having sex nan?

We didn’t do a sappy goodbye when we parted this time. I didn’t need her too. We know we love each other.

Will let me sleep til 11 😍
Feeling fresh and ready for the day 😬

We packed, I seriously don’t know why I’m so bad at organizing my life when it comes to packing, I also think I’m getting worse.
Will is always done first and he gets annoyed and i want to yell at him cause I always have an extra bag than him - the “us” bag.
He did at least help this morning.

We got a taxi to little India (hotel stores our bags for us)
We got directed by some people to walk up an alley. It was so cluttered and yet amazing. If I wasn’t with Will I could have spent HOURS in there. But because he hates fun we just walked through :(

We found an Indian resturant and it was bloody delicious - we ordered way to much though.
    Great slogan too 😂

We then walked to the Merlion by the bay.
So hot we got some drinks and I found a magnet (couldn’t leave without one 🤗🤗)
Got some pics, Will has been even less willing than usual to get in some pics this trip.

    I really like the bay.
It’s very hazy though, not crisp at all.
    Probably pollution.
We found a shopping center and passed time in the aircon cause I was dying and my shirt was wet down my back.
There was this cool water feature thing on the roof that isn’t continuous but on a time loop so it wasn’t going the whole time - makes it more exciting to witness.

Caught a taxi back to the hotel, caught the shuttle and checked in.
It was all done by us and not airport staff - an unnecessarily painful experience. Why take people’s jobs? It was NOT more convenient for us to have to scan out passports 6 times, prints bag tags, print boarding passes, have our bags weighed and photo matched to a computer. Took us about 20 minutes to just drop our bags cause the computer kept being like you are the wrong person when i tried to do Wills for him which basically means if my mum had to do it herself (useless human meaning she couldn’t) she literally could not cause she couldn’t ask for help cause the computer would have a problem and be like “the person doing the scanning is not the person in the passport - bag denied.
    What a bloody hassle!

Ate Burger King - they have Avocado/banana flavored coke 🤢🤢
We found a random butterfly sanctuary nearby which I loved. They were asleep so they were easy to find and have a close look at their wing patterns.
We then went to our gate.

Currently on the plane home with 2 hours to go.
I am sitting next to the most annoying man who has some serious ADHD issues.
Climbing the seat, squatting in the seat, standing behind the seat to watch the tv (we back row) and just a total fidget bum.
I know it’s ADHD cause everything he is doing i do I just manage it better 😂😂

Have watched friends. That’s it lol.

    Got 13 minutes to go.
Not feeling fab so keen to get off.
We have a lot of kids on the plane and they all did a great job - have only just started crying and it’s probs cause their ears hurt.

Customs did a terrible job. Our shoes are covered in mud and yak poop - we declared them and they were like they are fine...
didn’t even ask what country we have been in? (I hadn’t yet handed over the declaration form)
    Didn’t even spray them?
    Ok then.

    Glad to be home.

Cried during take off - genuinely scared. Even though Will thought I was ridiculous he hugged me.
I fly a lot so it really is so stupid of me.
We did manage to snag the exit row yewwww.
Got in some sleep but hardly any quality.
Entire plane was stressed about connections but im pretty sure they all made it cause literally half of our plane was scheduled to get on their next plane together so it was worth waiting for them.
Customs was genuinely terrible for such a big airport - everyone was Indian and needed visas so it took so long - make a desperate visa line 🙄
Went to get Maccas but they don’t have an all day menu here 😭
Our hotel does a free shuttle from the airport - it was hard to find but we got there - terrible signage. Seriously, airports need to pick up their game. I was super shitty.
At least the shuttle was free and we were the only ones.
Got dropped off. It was a 3 hour wait until check in but she did at least move it from 2pm to 12.
    Highly appreciated.
Late check out tomorrow too woo.
We walked around and it IS HUMID. and stupidly glarey. Have to walk with my eyes half shut.
Found a Starbucks to pass time in and I had a caramel hot chocolate. Nothing will beat white .
Then we went to maccas - we had been waiting for the lunch menu which starts at 11 not 10:30.
Today’s lesson was I learnt that I don’t like angus meat patties nearly as much.

Back to hotel and checked in. We were meant to have a 2 hour nap. 5 hours later we woke up.
I was fucking furious that Will had switched off the alarm. It was 5pm. Felt like we really wasted the day but luckily the Gardens by the bay was also a night activity so that’s were we headed.
Not only are taxis still used by everyone - they are reasonably priced!!
We got one to the gardens and paid the big entry fee.
We got access to 2 domes. I did enjoyed it but didn’t LOVE it. People like Helen (Trek Helen not Wills mum) could spend a week in there and would froth at the mouth upon entry.
I expected more flowers - there were still heaps but I think the first dome was more plants than flowers.
It still had cool ones I hadn’t seen before and awesome bark sculptures hidden in trees like big cats, owls, snakes and a dragon etc.
The second dome had the bug famous waterfall.
I liked this dome better as it had more to do. You catch a lift to the top and walk back down going though different sections such as a global warming video and crystals.

We walked around and saw the big flower things but chose not to do the skywalk.
We left and walked through the city towards Chinatown. Will having $5 a day for WiFi with Vodafone is very convenient. (Wasn’t an option in Nepal)
Its a very clean city, as expected.
The people here are 65% Asian and 35% caucasian.
Their English sucks balls though!! Considering English is their first language?? It’s not like they hav an accent I can’t understand, it’s like they have trouble making the sounds and talk slowly.
We walked around the water which i would like to see in daylight - a lot of people going for jogs. Though it’s dark it is stil so so hot.
Found China town - the streets need to widen their footpaths/remove the food tables and poles. You have to walk in a zigzag around obstacles or on the roads.
Found a resturant that had recognizable items.
I keep having fucking coriander disasters. THE. WORST.
Food was ok. Again, the satay chicken skewers were the highlight.
I got some ice cream - I asked for 2 scoops and for unknown reasons the dude charged me for 2 but gave me 4 - 2 in 2 separate cups. It was hard to juggle and I dropped a big chunk of ice cream on the floor.
Gonna get arrested - they don’t like sticky stuff in their footpaths 😅😅

Got a taxi home - I cannot believe how many taxis there are and not only that, they are ALL occupied. It took us ages to get one!!

Happy with our hotel, we had a bath together 🙃 wish Will fit better and we could do it more often hahah. - Will fell asleep in record speed. I was awake for hours but at least I knew I could sleep in if needed!

    25 Eylül 2019, Nepal ⋅ 🌧 22 °C

    So, didn’t sleep.
At around 4:30 I had a little tanti and had to detach the charger from the wall cause the blue light was well and truly pissing me off.

Got up at 7:30 to shave Wills back 😪
Had breakfast at 8 and had checked out by 9.
We waited in the foyer for Kay for about 40 minutes but she didn’t come. So we dumped our bags at reception and off we went to the museum.
Such a random route again. Google maps isn’t overly accurate here.
Will is so done with being hassled on the street.
    Just piss off lol.
“Where you from?” Fk off lol.
Took us about 40 mins to get there and it took us through “the suburbs”
We walked through the army barracks. Again, their immaculate uniforms do not match the conditions they live in.

The front of the museum looks as if a car has gone crashing through it.

The photos on the brochure they gave us to do not overly look the same as the condition it’s currently in.
Will reckons the earthquake effected things but it isn’t like the buildings have fallen down, they are dirty.

First 2 buildings had statues of Buddha. Boring lol.
Also everything was very recent - mostly 18th, 19th and 20th century. And mainly 20th - lame cause grandparents where alive? Hardly a precious piece of history transported through the ages.
The museum is also really dirty - 6 ladies gas bagging at the front - one of them could be pulling weeds, another could be dusting.

3rd building was better but still eh.
Can’t reaaally complain cause it was only $2 to enter..
anyway, it had some taxidermy stuff - an amateurs work for sure. It was quite comical - glad there were signs cause it wasn’t immediately obvious what each animal was 😅
Had some fossil stuff and and elephant skull.
It also had dolls from different countries and mirrors you have in a fun house. Not sure of the relevance but ok.
    The guard was asleep.

We then got a taxi home cause weather was miserable.
We got dropped off near by - had some lunch then went to the hotel.
I WAS ALLOWED TO BUY ONE MORE PAIR OF PANTS 🥳😬🤗
Dropped Will off at the hotel and went to do my thing. He is stressful to shop with - no patience.
    Love my new purchase.
I fell asleep in the foyer for a little bit.
We had like 4 hours to kill before we were going to the airport.

Dawa collected us and gave us ANOTHER bloody scarf thing. Could have at least given us a different colour (was white again) 😅😂
    The traffic was abysmal.

When we went in we were too early and check in hadn’t even started. We had to wait about 40 minutes and then got told our flight was delayed *sigh* but we could drop our bags.
We went upstairs to immigration where some lovely man leant me his own.
The whole attach a pen to string thing doesn’t seem to work here 🙄
    No Pens anywhere lol.
After we got stamped we went up to a restaurant Kay told us to go to cause it had proper toilets:
    Food was randomly good
    Satay was amazing.
The worker man charged my phone for me up at the bar section.
For whatever reason the dude opened up the window and the FREEZING cold air from outside came in - suddenly became thankful for my scarf lol.
As we continued through customs I bought a book. It’s pretty shitty but has some photos of the places we went and stayed on the trail.
This airport has domestic vibes rather than international. Not high tech at all!
We sat around waiting for our plane - I was under an air con vent that kept dripping on me 🙄
We didn’t leave til until 12:30
Not sure how delayed cause I’m still not sure if it was originally scheduled for 9:50 of 10:15 lol. Depends what itinerary/screen or email you look at.
Their board said 9:50 as did one of my emails but my app said 10:15 and their new scheduled departure time had a delay of 55 mins - I.e 11:10 Which would support a 10:15 flight?? 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️
    So confused haha.

Anyway, finally got on our way. I cried during take off. I was really scared. Haven’t cried since returning from South Africa.
    Random.

    24 Eylül 2019, Nepal ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

Oops. It was nearly 1pm when we both woke.

    I was starving, Will wasn’t.
So off we trotted to KFC. Will said he didn’t want KFC and I said it didn’t matter if he wasn’t eating 🙃
    Delicious.

Very impressed with Nepal’s lack of plastic bags and straws. They exist but most places do paper.

    We went walking.
I’ve said it 22 time but this place is fucking mental.
    Toot toot. Beep beep.
We went into an area that’s not real touristy I don’t think. I enjoyed watching people go about their daily business.
Selling fruits and veg, spices, electronics, repairs, meats etc. I particularly like the people on the floor with fresh produce. I think that would be the most stressful type of business cause it has an expiry date - also more effort to farm and lug to store.
Lots of tiny temples everywhere (could fit 2 people max)
    I bought some stuff hehe.
I bought 4X prayer flags to hand around our future outdoor table.
I bought a yak yak yak shirt got me to match Jax and I bought 2 pairs of pants. Couldn’t believe Wills willingness to let me buy them lol. Walked back to the hotel and they were filming something in the lobby. Looked super low budget 😅 the camera however was worth more than an average Nepali persons 30 year salary.
We watched a while and had a drink the foyer before heading back to our room. Have been talking to Jess and she has put in an offer for a house. Very happy for her!!

We went to dinner at a lovely garden spot.
Loved our waiter - he got like a 500 rupee tip lol.

We are currently back at the hotel packing - Will is so ready to go. Lol
We found one of our rented down jackets - could he sworn we handed it in lol - must remember to do that tomorrow cause they have been looking for it 😅😅😅😂

    23 Eylül 2019, Nepal ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

Got woken up by the phone at 9 to ask if we were coming to breakfast. Lol. No thankyou.

But alas now we were awake so we showered and got on our way - ran into Kay in the foyer - another team had to get helicopters up to Lukla. 😅😅😅
We asked Dawa to help us get a taxi.
    450 rupees to Boudhanath Stupa.
I could live her 10 years and not adjust to the roads.
Literally no rules and yet no one crashes. There precision is amazing. They sit with in 1cm of the next car - but never ever hit!!
    Incredible.
Today is dusty as all hell. Wish we brought our buffs.
So we arrived and it cost 400 each to enter.
It’s bigger than I expected - we went upstairs to a rooftop place to have breakfast and get a better angle of it all.
We watched as the prepared the Stupa. There is a big festival next month where they slaughter a lot of goats. Thrilled we will miss it.
They were throwing orange paint onto the white round top bit, adding prayer flags and orange lei things.
After we ate we did a full lap walk around it then headed off to the Pashupatinath temple. About a 2km walk away.
    Seriously though - so dusty!!!

We eventually found it. Signage not good - all in script.
We found an entrance - 1000 each to enter.
I knew we weren’t allowed to enter the temples cause we aren’t Hindu but we could go to the river and man what an experience!!!!!!

So along the river they do public cremations.
We saw an old lady lying on a bunch of wood and People walking in circles around her before setting underneath her on fire.
We watched for a while then walked over to the other side of the bridge and sat.
About 6 people were being cremated at the one time.
Once the fire is basically done they push what’s left into the river - people bathe in the river.
    Eek.

They were setting up another wood pile - we waited a while and a horn began to blow. 100 people walked in carrying a body covered in orange.
The woman came in at the end, they were the only ones showing grief.
I felt fine to take photos previously because A. We were told we could and B. No one was mourning.
As soon as I saw people mourning I stopped filming.
There is no correct way to grieve but I thought it was a bit much.
They were WAILING and had to be carried away.
It seemed like an act which makes me uncomfortable. I do hope they find peace though.

It took them ages to put the person onto the wood and start the fire.
We had been watching for an hour before we left. I found the whole thing fascinating.
The lady we first watched had no finished burning by the end of the hour.

They use buckets to wash the area of ash. They need bigger buckets. Took them 100 goes.

    It’s something I probably won’t see again.

On the side of the river we were everyone was doin their Hindu rituals. Would take a year to explain it all. No idea what they were doing but it’s complicated AF.
They made paste, poured white water and made paints. They had foods and dyes and rice.

Monkeys stole a lot of people’s bananas lol.

We then got a taxi back home. We didn’t want to really explore the temples. I was in shorts and I knew we couldn’t get in most places anyway. I saw everything I wanted/needed to see.

We had a rest then met up with George downstairs and went to dinner.
He is such a crack pot.
    Dancing down the street.

We went shopping with him after as he wanted to get souvenirs for his grandkids/family.
I bought a present for nan while out.
And might have nicked a pair of socks cause I got ripped off.. 🙃
I bought shoes - paid 1000 then exchanged for socks but didn’t get refunded the difference so i pocketed a second pair.
Don’t feel bad. 500 per pair is still more than they are worth. George also bought half of the shop so the store dude had a good night.
They are yak wool. I also bought Nana a postcard of a yak just in case she didn’t know what one was lol.
We said our goodbyes to George in the lobby - he had written us a card. I will miss him. What a wonderful man.
